Hello there! Well, the HUGE snowstorm they were predicting this weekend didn't live up to the expectations, at all. I think we got maybe two inches. It's going to be in the 40's today, but ZERO degreees overnight, UGH...which means when I leave for work tomorrow it's going to be ZERO, which I am so not looking forward to. I never start my car and let it warm up, but I think I'll be doing that Monday and Tuesday during this artic blast we'll be getting.
There's nothing really new going on with me; this weekend's been a quiet one. My mom stopped over to visit yesterday, and I ran an errand, and just cleaned and did laundry, worked out, and relaxed. Next Saturday night Bob and I are going to my parent's house for dinner, with my grandparents, and aunt and uncle.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress, that I got three years ago on Poshmark. It's near and dear to my heart, because New Orleans is my FAVORITE city! I've been missing it a lot lately; Bob and I haven't been in over two years, although my mom and I went about fifteen months ago.
When Bob and I went last, it was only for a couple of days too; I'd love to go back with him soon for four days, that's the perfect amount of time there for us. I doubt we'll be getting back there too soon though, because we're going to Vegas in three months, and also planning on going to Ireland, England, and maybe Scotland around September! We haven't booked anything yet for Europe, but I need to start looking into things soon. So exciting! I just KNOW I'm going to absolutely love Ireland; I've only heard great things about it, and there's no better sound to my ears than the Irish accent, and I can't wait to be surrounded by that accent and the beautiful landscape.

Hello there! Tomorrow my mom and I are going antiquing together in Adamstown, PA, along with her doggy, Heidi. Heidi sleeps on my feet the whole way out and back, and keeps them nice and warm! She's a Sheltie, so she has LOTS of beautiful, warm fur. She's obsessed with my mom, and never wants to leave her side. I'm very excited to go to Adamstown, as it's the BEST place to go antiquing, and I haven't been in six months! I used to hate going there as a child, when my parents dragged my sister and me, and now it's one of my favorite places. Isn't that funny the way things work??
Today Bob and I are just staying in, which is nice, after all of the family holiday get togethers as of late. Yesterday I was happily surprised to get out of work really early, at 11:30, and I then I met my mother, sister, and grandparents for lunch, and after that my sister stopped over my apartment. Monday we'll be going to Bob's favorite restaurant for an early dinner, and then out for a drink, and Tuesday we'll be going to his dad's for an early dinner.
My Christmas was good; I got a lot of great things! The biggest gift was a Heywood Wakefield corner cupboard that my parents gave us. I can't wait to use it in our house, to displays some of antiques on. I have almost no room to display things in our apartment now.
Since that was such a big gift, my parents just gave me a few small things, like a vintage Christmas rug, vintage Holt Howard Santa salt and pepper shakers, some ornaments, etc.
Bob really impressed me; he picked everything out on his own, and got me a set of vintage Shiny Brites that I REALLY love. They're pretty colorful, and most of them are indent ornaments, which are my favorites. He didn't even know that, he just lucked out!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Pinup Girl Clothing Birdie dress. I have one other Birdie, but it's 3/4 sleeve. I love the Birdie style. To me, it's pretty quintessential 50's.
I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve, when Bob and I went to church, and my aunt and uncle's house. The colors in it are obviously perfect for Christmas. I got it second hand a few months or so ago for a great price, and hadn't worn it out yet.

Hello there! It's been such a dreary, rainy, cool weekend. It cooled WAY down...it was in the 90's and VERY humid Monday-Thursday, and then Thursday on my commute home I got stuck in an awful thunderstorm, with on and off torrential rain. The storm brought in a cold front, and it cooled way down. The high is 60 today! I really wanted to take walks today & yesterday, but was unable to, due to the rain.
Yesterday I did cleaning and laundry, Bob and I found a new used car for me(!), and we also went out for a couple of drinks. I had such a long, busy, stressful week at work, and it was such a relief when the work week ended. It's also a HUGE relief that we found a car for me!!
Mine broke down twice on interstates in the past couple of months, so I had had it with that car. Now that I have such a long commute, I can't have that big risk of breaking down again. Breaking down on a highway is really scary, too. I even had to borrow my grandmother's car all weeke to get to work. I got a used Honda Acura, which is supposed to be an outstanding car.
This week upcoming week Bob and I will be going to Panera with my parents and grandmother for dinner, and then on Saturday night we're going out to dinner with my extended family for my other grandmother's birthday. I also have to take my new car for inspection, which is oh, so much fun.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress that I bought a couple of years ago on Poshmark. I adore this French Quarter print. I'm a sucker for beautiful landscape/city prints, and have a few of them. I also love pairing this big, chunky fruit necklace with this dress. The necklace is reproduction, and I also got it a couple of years back.

Hello there! I got out of work at 12:20 today, and I'm now off until Tuesday the 2nd. I've never had off for the entire time between Christmas & New Year's before! It's a great feeling. I mean last year I only worked one day ha, but before that, at all my previous jobs, I only had off for Christmas day & New Year's day. My mom and sister are also off the entire ten days. Unforunately, Bob is only off Christmas & New Year's day.
3 MORE DAYS now! So dang soon! My excitement is mounting. I don't think I'll ever not get excited for Christmas. I know my mom still gets very excited, ha.
Tonight I'll be working out and just taking it easy, and relaxing at home. I just have a couple more gifts to wrap, and I'll be watcing "Polar Express", too. I haven't seen that movie in years. I also may re-watch "White Christmas" tonight; I already watched it a few weeks ago, but it's my favorite!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress that I so adore. This is a very rare, sought after TD print, and I scored it on Poshmark two years ago. I was at the right place at the right time! It was a bigger size than I normally wear, so my mom took the waist in for me, and then it was perfect! The print is such a gorgeous piece depicting the French Quarter in New Orleans in the 1800's or early 1900's.
I don't know how soon I'll be going back to NOLA, but I'm always eager to visit again! The next trip Bob and I are taking together is to Nashville, at the end of May. Only 5 months to go....ugh.

Hello there! Yay, the weekend is here once again. It was a pretty busy at week, again. Next week is a short week though, so I have that to look forward to! Tomorrow Bob and I are going to the Allentown Antique Toy Show, and my parents, and mom's cousin & her husband will also be there. The antique show also has antique holiday items, so I'm excited to go! It's the first antique show of the season for us. Our next one is two weeks away, in Lancaster.
After the show we're going to a nearby mall, so I can see if they have any good Christmas ornaments at Boscov's, and I'm also going to see if the Hot Topic has the Lisa Frank sweatshirt I'm after. Yes, I said Lisa Frank. Hot Topic carries a few LF shirts & sweatshirts, and the sweatshirt I wanted is sold out online. I NEVER go to malls, in fact that last time I think I went to one was a year ago when we went to the same one after the toy show.
Now that it's November, Christmas is definitely big time on my mind! I can't wait to decorate my apartment, and I'll be way more excited to decorate our house next year! I'll have so much more room to display everything then. My Christmas decorations, especially my Christmas antiques, makes me so happy.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Retrospec'd Elizabeth dress in the Santorini print. It's not available on their website anymore, but Catnip Reproduction Vintage Clothing had one left in my size. I had first seen it probably over a year ago, but was never that into it. When I came across it again recently, it caught my eye this time. Isn't it funny how that happens?? Anyway, I'm so glad I got it! It fits perfectly, is flattering, and is a great print!
This print is an exact reproduction of a vintage print. I love that Retrospec'd does that, and they so often select amazing prints that I love!
I don't have any blue or green shoes that match this dress exactly, but these royal blue ones, as well the green pair I wore in my last post are both pretty close. If you've been following me at all, you know how I love to match!

Hello there! I took a bit of a break from blogging because of the death of my mother-in-law. She passed away almost two weeks ago, and the wake was last Sunday, and the funeral was this past Monday. Her death wasn't sudden; she had an awful auto immune disease called Schleroderma. I had never heard of it before she was diagnosed, and most people I know have never heard of it, either. The last couple of months she was physically unable to swallow because of the disease, so we knew her death would be coming soon.
But, despite knowing for a little while that it was coming, it is of course still devastating, especially for Bob, his brother, and father. The four of them saw each other very often; my Bob's brother lives at home, and Bob, his brother, and father all work together. We are glad she's no longer suffering, but there is now a hole in our lives.
I had never lost someone this close before; I have never even lost a grandparent. I still have three grandparents who are alive, and the other died before I was born. I also can not recall ever being at a funeral. So, I was nervous about how everything was going to go; the wake, the funeral, all the family functions that went on last weekend and last Monday. I'm a classic introvert, and get drained from a lot of socialization. But, I knew I had to be there through everything, for Bob.
All six of Bob's mother's surving siblings came up from West Viriginia (one sister had predeased her); as well as Bob's dad's brother and wife who live in Georgia. I had never even met some of the uncles from West Virginia before.
Well, we got through it. I've felt so bad for my husband the past few months, seeing how painful it was for him to see her declining; we both felt so powerless about it. He's doing okay right now. The funeral service at the funeral home was the hardest part of everything for me, and I think for my husband, as well. I'm a very emotional person, very sensitive, and empathetic as well. Needless to say, I cried a lot. I didn't go to work Monday or Tuesday, and neither did Bob.
I'm a private person with most people, except for those I am closest to, and I didn't want to talk about it on Instagram, and debated writing about it here. But, in the end, I chose to just write about it here.
Wednesday was my first day back, and was also my first full work day sine June, since my job's summer hours are now over. The teachers came back to work today, and the kids will be there on Tuesday. It always comes so fast.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette. I've had it for a year and a half, and still feel so lucky that I managed to score it off of Poshmark, for a great price. It was big in the waist, but my mom took it in for me.

Hello there! It's a beautiful, sunny day out, and Bob and I are leaving in the early afternoon to head to Bethlehem for an early dinner & drinks, and to go to the Moravian Bookstore. Other than that, I'll just be doing some cleaning and laundry, and relaxing at home. Tomorrow I'll be going to church with my mom and sister, and going to my grandparent's house for Easter.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Banned Apparel skirt that I bought from Viva Dulce Marina. Banned first started showing pictures of this skirt about two months ago, and I was very excited for its release. I love this fun 1950's drive-in/diner print, and the use of bright shades of orange, pink & blue in it. Not many skirts or dresses have much orange in them. Speaking of orange, Oblong Box Shop finally released their furniture skirt and tiki drink skirt last night, and I ordered both of them right away. The furniture skirt has an orange background. I like the tiki drink skirt even more though, and can't wait to receive them both. I'll definitetly have to bring the tiki drink skirt to Vegas!

Hello there, and happy spring!! I'm so glad it has arrived! Even though the weather here has gotten cooler than it was last week, I'm just happy it's officially spring, as the season I hate is officially over! Winer always seems to drag on endlessly, and summer always flies by, at least for me.
Last night I watched "Brooklyn" and "Carol" On Demand. Wow, I LOVED "Brooklyn". It definitely lived up to the hype. I'm just so in love with Ireland/all thing Irish as it is, and this movie just really got to me. I knew it would make me cry, ha. I love the actress, Saoirse Ronan. She was also in "Atonement" and "The Lovely Bones", both of which I've seen. I really didn't know what her decision would be (whether to stay in Ireland or go back to Brooklyn), but I liked the way the movie ended. "Carol" I wasn't so crazy about. I love Cate Blanchett, and both movies were set int he 50's, so I enjoyed seeing the wardrobes and decor, but "Carol" moved slowly, and didn't have a good ending. Today we're going to watch "The Big Short" On Demand. That movie should be more of Bob's speed, ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter cherry blossoms dress. It's the perfect dress for the first day of spring. I had also wetset my hair the night before I took these pictures, and I think my hair turned out decently. Sometimes it turns out crappy, and I ended up just straightening my hair to take out the bad curls.

Hello there! Bob and I had a good time in Bethlehem yesterday. I bought an Easter ornament at the Moravian Bookstore. I was hoping they'd have more Easter things there, but they had hardly anything; maybe they're still waiting on Easter stock to arrive, as it's still a little ways away. Luckily, we got to Brew Works before it got really busy (there always seems to be a wait at dinnertime Friday & Saturday there). I really enjoy going to Bethlehem. It's only an hour away, and it's really pretty there. It's an old German town.
I've been having a very lucky past couple weeks or so, as I scored another one of my unicorns recently. The dress I'm wearing in the pictures below is the Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress. I have the French Quarter print skirt, but I wanted the dress instead. Also, the skirt was always very tight on me. I happened to pop on Poshmark a few days ago (I almost never go on), and they usually have almost no TD on their site, but this time, they had this dress! It's a bigger size than I am in TD, but since I knew the French Quarter line ran so small, I snagged it. It's a little big in the waist, but not super huge. I can even zip it by myself (which is impossible with most of my other TD dresses)! I like the dress so much better than the skirt. The Annette style is one of my favorites; I have 4 now in this style. I'm trying to trade my skirt now for one of two other hard to find TD prints, but if that doesn't happen, I'll just sell it. I know it'll sell right away too, as it's one of the most sought after TD prints. I couldn't believe my luck, that I found this dress righ after I found my rockets dress! This was also a great price, and in like new condition.

Hello there! Well, it finally stopped snowing, after getting two feet dumped on us. We went from not getting over half an inch of snow this winter, to this; pretty amazing. This has to be one of our worst snowstorms of all time as well, in fact I'm pretty sure we officially had a blizzard, which is crazy. I only remember us having one other blizzard (in '96). I know my sister (in Nashville) got around 8 inches, which her boyfriend thought was a record for Nashville. The weather forecasters usually get the forecast wrong, they hype it all up, with not enough results, but in this case, they underestimated. Bob was barely home yesterday, and will probably be gone most of the day and evening today. I can't leave, because I don't have a shovel here, and can't get my car out.
I really didn't think the mail would come yesterday, considering how bad it was out, but it did come. My new fruit purse and sprinkles duvet cover and pillowcases arrived, as seen below. I had to wash & dry the cover and pillowcases immediately, & put them on my bed! The set is so darn cute. Luckily, Bob doesn't mind my aesthetic, ha!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Modcloth rainbow stripe skirt. I'm glad it was brighter in person that my computer monitor showed. I used to show at Modcloth A LOT, but the past year or so, they hadn't been selling hardly anything I was interested in. They hardly had any bright, fun novelty prints. This skirt is perfect though, and I also got a rainbow dress and pair of BAIT shoes recently. The skirt and dress I got are from their new inhouse Modcloth brand line.

Hello there! Last night Bob & I watched "The Big Lebowski". I had seen it once before (Bob owns it), but not in years. I just love the Cohen brothers, they are probably my favorite directors/writers. Their movie "Fargo" is one of my all time favs. Steve Buscemi is in both of those movies, and he's my favourite actor. We've been watching the TV show "Fargo", and t's been getting better as the season goes on. It's one of the few shows on TV that we like.
Today I'm cleaning, doing laundry, and working out, and tonight we're going to my parent's house for dinner. Bob's parents are coming as well. I'll be seeing my parents again in a few days, for Thanksgiving at my grandparent's house. The four day weekend is creeping closer! Bob only has off on Thursday. I'm very much looking forward to Friday, to relax, decorate, and shop online. I may decorate a bit this weekend, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Oblong Box Shop Moais in Space skirt. I have this skirt in the puffer fish print, too. I had debated ordering one for months, and then I finally decided to try it, and ordered this one first. I love both of them! They don't wrinkle at all, and are nice and full, with adorable prints. Let's be real, there's nothing I love more than a good novelty print, is there?

Hello there! I'm so glad the three day weekend is finally here. I know it'll go wayyy too fast, but, I'm trying to savor every moment of it. Today I'm going to clean, do laundry, work out, go to Target, go to a BBQ at my parent's with Bob, and maybe go for a walk-in hair cut. I am in dire need of one, and I just need to go and do it. I'm excited to have a cheeseburger tonight! I haven't had one in a longgg time.
So many websites are having great Memorial Day sales! I'm especially eyeing a couple of items on the PUG site. I'm waiting to my place my order/s, until I see if I win an eBay auction that ends on Sunday. That'll determine how much more money I want to spend on other items, ha. There's actually another item on eBay I really want as well, but I have there's a lot more bids on it than the other one, and I think it'll go too high for me, unfortunately.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new dress. It's Collectif brand, and it's from Red Velvet Vintage. I spotted it on Red Velvet's Instagram, and they sent me a Paypal Invoice for it. I hadn't seen it on their website, so I had asked them if I could order it, and luckily I could. They only had one left in this size! I wasn't sure if it'd fit my chest, since it's a size small, and I had never ordered this brand before. But, the ladies at Red Velvet told me that since there's smocking in the back, there's extra room, and a lot of girls have sized down. I'm so glad I did get a small, becaise there's even some extra room in the chest and waist, and I almost never have extra room in the bust. I'm so glad I found it on a U.S. website, and didn't have to pay shpping from overseas. I just adore the print on the dress! It's so cute and kitsch. It'll be just perfect to wear in NYC next month, at tiki bars.
