Orange & Lime

Hello there! I can't believe it's the end of July. I'm trying to savor every day, as summer is my favorite season. Of course it's also the one that goes by the fastest! But, despite what others may say, we still have TWO more months of summer! It doesn't end until September 22. One of my pet peeves is when people rush the seasons, except for winter, ha! I'm all about rushing every winter, always. For example, I hear so many people who think summer ends September 1, or the first day of school...NOPE! Haha that's just one of my many pet peeves.
Things have been a little stressful as of late; Bob is having issues with our car insurance; they want to total his car, and only give him a fraction of what it's worth, and my car, which I just got fixed, is now acting up again (different problems). I may be looking into buying another (used) car soon, but it's not ideal, with us having more expenses as of late, and in the near future
with building our house, and our vacation coming up very (!!!) soon.
Tomorrow Bob and I are heading to Lancaster for Retrofest; it'll be our second time going. There were such good vendors last year, so I'm really looking forward to it. It's a little over two hours each way.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva 1940's Cranes dress that I got two years ago, paired with my new Remix Vintage Shoes wedges. Believe it or not, before acquing these wedges, I did't own any orange or lime shoes. I love this color combination, and they match this dress pretty perfectly! They also match a couple of my other dresses, and they'll match the upcoming TD print, which is going to be released soon. I can't wait for it; it has ALL the colors in it!! It couldn't be more perfect for me. Someone called it the Lisa Frank print, so that's why I've been calling it, too. Does it surprise you that I was obsessed with Lisa Frank when I was in elementary school, and kind of still am?? I still have some of my items!

Another Paris Print

Hello there! I'm so glad that it's Friday. Today was another very hot week, but the humidity finally went down yesterday. Tomorrow night Bob's friend and his fiance are coming over for dinner that Bob's cooking, and I made cookies for dessert. Other than that, it'll be a pretty quiet weekend. Next Saturday is Retro Fest in Lancaster, PA, and I'm so EXCITED for it!!
There were so many amazing vendors last year. It'll be fun, but not for my wallet!
The excitement is mounting for our coming vacation. I counted down for soooo long (we booked it in the beginning of February!), and it's crazy that it's now only two and a half weeks away. I just know I'm going to LOVE Tiki Oasis AND San Diego! I've been working on a rough itinerary for us, and there's so much to do, besides Tiki O.
We're going to go to Coronado too, which is a beach town that borders on San Diego. We plan on going to the beach for two of the days we're there. I've never been to San Diego, but I've been to California a few times, and I love it there (I've been to northern and central California). Bob's never been on the west coast, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he thinks of it!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Bernie Dexter Paris print Mari dress. I hadn't ordered from Bernie in six months, but I love this print. It's a print she used to carry in different dress styles, but I'm so glad she brought it back in the Mari. One day I'll actually get to go to Paris, and not sure just wear Paris prints! This dress ran quite small in the bust, and the store manager called to ask me if I'd rather size up, so I ended up doing that, and I'm glad that I did.
This vintage enamel flower brooch matches so well, and I got it from an antique mall last month for only $2! You really can't beat that deal. It's not in perfect condition, but pretty darn close.

Vintage Stripes

Hello there! Today it's finally rainng; we've been without rain for a good while here, and it's been very hot for awhile, as well. Last night my parents came over for dinner. Bob cooked pasta, and made bread, and tomato soup. Of course my parents and I loved everything; as he's such a good cook. I also cleaned and did laundry yesterday, and watched some Netflix. Bob and I finished "The Sinner" last night; that was a pretty good show. I had never heard of it before. We also started "Glow" last night, and just watched the first episode. I'm definitely interested in seeing more of it. It's a nice break from the type of shows I usually watch; I watch a lot of crime/mystery/thriller shows (true crime and non true), which "The Sinner" fits into the mystery/thriller genre.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage dress that I picked up in New Hope last weekend. Our day didn't start out so good, as we got into a minor car accident on the way to New Hope, when a car stopped short in front of us, and Bob rearended them. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the damage to the car we hit was very minimal, and both cars were driveable. Bob's car was much more damaged, unfortunately, so he was not happy. But, we proceeded to New Hope, as planned.
I got the vintage dress from a really neat shop there called Love Saves the Day. They have a good amount of vintage clothing there, plus some random housewares and knickknacks, new and old. I spotted this dress on the rack, and loved the colors. I pulled it off the rack, praying to the vintage gods that it would fit me, and it fit perfectly! The dress is all I purchased in New Hope, and Bob got a vintage shirt that I really like, at a different vintage clothing shop there.
In the pictures below is my vintage Enid Collins bag. I only have one so far, but I think a lot of her purses were really neat. I love the beautiful flower pattern and the colors in this one!

BBQ Dress

Hello there! It's been a crazy hot and humid week, and while today's temperature is in the 80's, it's still very humid, unfortunately. This weekend is supposed to be nice though, and will be perfect when we go to New Hope tomorrow; it's supposed to be sunny and 80, which is going to feel great. We'll be leaving in the morning, and getting back in the early evening.
There's a couple of vintage clothing stores will be hitting while we're there, so fingers crossed I find something! We'll also be eating lunch and having drinks at an outside bar that we haven't tried before, and defnitely getting ice cream. There's also bakery there that looks really good, and I've been in many times, but never actually got anything, ha. So maybe I'll pick something up tomorrow, finally.
We went to Bob's aunt and uncle's house for 4th of July, and had a good time, despite the weather. When we first got there, it was insanely hot and humid, and then after a short time, started to rain, so we went inside for the remainder of the time. The power even went out for a few minutes. Oh, and when they went to start the grill, they saw an animal had chewed through the line! So, someone ran out to replace it.
Tonight we're heading to my parents' house for my mom's birthday. My grandparents and aunt and uncle will also be there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter bbq dress that I got about three years ago. I'm still crazy about this print! I wore this outfit on 4th of July, so of course I had to also wear my burger earrings. I'm nothing if not thematic!

Bella

Hello there! We are very much in the middle of a heat wave right now, today being the hottest day thus far, and it's not supposed to cool down much until Friday. The high today was 97! I was going to go to the pool, but just ended up staying here in the air conditioning all day. Yesterday Bob and I were in the city all day, with friends, and it was just as hot.
Bob and I hadn't been to the city in three years, despite not living that far away from it.
Bob does not like going, and there are definitely things I don't enjoy about it either, but this time the travel was better, as we drove farther out then we have before, so we only had a ten minute, $4 train ride each way, which is much improved from the $30, hour and 40 minute ride each way that we used to do! We had fun spending the day with our friends, eating and drinking; is there really anything else to do in the city, ha??
Tomorrow night I'm meeting a friend for dinner at Panera, and on 4th of July Bob and I are going to his aunt and uncle's house for a bbq. Friday night we''ll be going to my parents' to have cake for my mom's birthday, and after that Bob and I are meeting my friend for a drink. Saturday we'll be FINALLY getting back to New Hope!! I can't wait; it's been a year since we were there, and we usually go two or three times a year. The weather is supposed to be good too, 80 and sunny, fingers crossed it stays that way.
I've been watching "Bates Motel" the past few days, and am on season three now. I had never seen it before. I'm definitely hooked. It would be hard to find two people crazier than the mother and son in the show!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Pinup Girl Clothing Bella Donna dress in the Italian Landscape print. It's so rare to find a dress with a bright yellow background. I got this dress a few months ago through a Facebook swap & sell group, and I did a blog post back then featuring this dress.
I also have a Retrospec'd dress with a gorgeous Italian canal print. Someday I'll get to Italy! Hopefully next summer, fingers crossed. Ireland and Italy are my top two destinations I want to get to, and although I've been to Germany once before, I do really want to go back there, this time with Bob.
