Lupe

Hello there! Today my mom stopped by for a couple of hours, and she brought her doggy, too. Yesterday Bob and I were at his dad's house for a bbq to celebrate Bob and his brother's birthdays. The day started off really nice; about 70 and sunny, but aound 6:00 p.m., it got very windy and cooled down a lot, and started raining a little later. So, everyone moved inside around 6:00. I made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing for the bbq, and it was I believe my first time ever making a cake from scratch! I've made brownies and many batches of cookies, but I don't think I ever made a cake. I made the cake my mom makes for family birthdays, and it came out perfect.
It's going to hit 80 degrees this week, and I'm SO excited!! It's been such a long wait. Wednesday-Friday are supposed to be in the low 80's, and the weather is looking perfect for my sister's wedding on Saturday, too. Let's hope it stays that way. Thursday I'm getting my nails done with my mom and sister, and Friday is the rehersal & rehersal dinner.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Turquoise Birds Lupe dress. I wear this dress A LOT when it's warm out, and wore it on Saturday. It's very light, so it's only ideal for warmer weather. I love this print so much, and I have it in a sarong, too. It's a very rare and sought after TD print, so I'm very lucky to own one dress, let alone two.

Wildflowers

Hello there! The trip I went on to Charleston last Thursday-Sunday was a lot of fun, but the time spent in Charleston just flew by. My friend and I drove down Thursday and it took us fourteen hours to get there, and it took the same amount of time on the ride home on Sunday. So, we were really only in Charleston Thursday night-Saturday night. The weather was great! It was sunny while we were there, and in the 70's. We even went on the beach on Saturday afternoon, and I went in the water up to my calves (water was 65 degrees).
I had never been to the Folly Beach section of Charleston before, and I loved it. We stayed pretty much right on the beach; just had to walk a couple of minutes to be on the sand. Folly Beach is about a 25 minute drive from King Street. King Street is the main street in Charleston, filled with restaurants, shopping, and bars. My friend and I walked up and down King Street on Friday morning/afternoon for a few hours, which was nice. Otherwise, we were with the rest of the bachelorette party during Friday & Saturday. My friend and I ate lunch on Friday at Jestine's, which is a famous traditional southern cooking style restaurant there, and we had both been there before. I just got a grilled cheese sandwich, but my friend got the fried chicken. My sandwich was good though, ha.
One mont from today Bob and I are flying to Nashville! I hope it hurries up. I'm SO excited to go, because we had such a blast last year. This year my sister and her soon to be husband will be in Nashville while we're there, so we'll be seeing them, as well as attending the Boogie. The Boogie starts on Thursday, so Tuesday night and all Wednesday Bob and I will be hitting up all the places we want to go to (especially restaurants!), so we can mainly stay at the Boogie the rest of our trip. We'll be going to Monell's, which is a very famous traditional southern style cooking restaurant, and we've never been before. Bob is especially looking forward to going there to eat. We're definitely going to Loveless Wednesday, as well. It's always a MUST for me, and will be my third time going.
Bob's birthday was Wednesday, and Friday after work we went out to a local brew pub for dinner and drinks. This coming Saturday we'll be at his dad's house for a joint birthday bbq for Bob and his brother.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved and much work Trashy Diva Wildflowers Trixie dress, which I got a year ago. I wear it sooo much when the weather is nice. I wore it on the car ride down to Charleston, actually, and am definitely taking it to the Boogie. I love the primary color combo in the dress, and the beautiful flower print, plus the dress is super comfy (love stretchy side panels!!).
The necklace and brooch I'm wearing are new, I just got them from Luxulite. They go so well with the dress!

Vintage Floral

Hello there! Friday evening Bob and I went to a local pub for some food & drinks, and last night we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant for his dad's birthday. Today we're staying in. I've started packing for the Charleston trip; I leave in four days, which is crazy!! It's going to feel so amazing to be in 70+ degree weather. My parents are in southern California right now, where it's been around 100 degrees!
Tomorrow after work I'm meeting my friend at Panera, and other than that, I'll be having a short, but busy week at work trying to get everything done I need to before I leave, finishing up packing, and working out.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage floral shirt dress that I got from Etsy last week. I just adore the colors in this print! Such pretty pastel shades. The dress is definitely shorter than what I prefer, much like my last vintage dress purchase that I recently blogged about, but it's not TOO short for me. I wouldn't go shorter than this, though. I was hoping my BAIT lilac shoes would match the purple in the dress, and they do.
The dress came with this pretty blue belt, and the dress fits me pretty well, it's a little big in the waist, but otherwise fine. I love finding great vintage Etsy shops. I much prefer to shop small.

Feelin' Fruity

Hello there! Well, I went back to work today after being off the last week. It sure went fast, naturally. I had some plans, but not a lot, which is just the way I like it over a break. I saw my family, Bob's family, some friends, ran errands, and went to the dentist. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I really do NOT like going to the dentist's, even just for a cleaning. I don't like the sounds, and keeping my mouth open for so long, and even getting a cleaning hurts a bit at times, depending on how hard the hygienist scrapes.
Monday I went antiquing with my mom in Adamstown, and I got a couple of small items, including a bright enamel flower brooch that I love! It was only $7, and the petals are bright orange and yellow. It's in good condition too; it's hard to find those enamel flower brooches in perfect condition, as the enamel starts to chip over time.
Tomorow night Bob and I are going out for a couple of drinks to a nearby brew pub, and then on Saturday night we're going out to eat with his family for his dad's birthday. Bob's birthday is in two weeks, and I have NO idea what to get him, as usual! It'll probably end up being a gift card, as per usual, ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Modcloth fruity dress that I got a couple of years or so ago. It's made of very light material, so I don't wear it the late fall through winter at all. Isn't such a fun, colorful print, and I love to wear it! I tried victory rolls again; as you can see in the first picture. I have this roller tool that I use, and it definitely does help, but I still need more practice!

Birdie

Hello there! Happy April! Well, my spring break started a couple of days ago, and it's going fast so far! Yesterday I met up for lunch with three friends/former co-workers. We went to a place I had never been before, about half an hour from me. It was a nice/scenic drive over there, and we had a good time. We were getting together once a month, but one of my friends moved a few months ago, and he's now about 45 minutes away from the town we used to meet in, and he'd also be driving in traffic to meet us after work. So, he hadn't met up with us after work in months.
I went to Target after meeting up with them, and then went back home. Last night I worked out and watched "The Heiress" with Bob. Well, he fell asleep when it was almost over, ha. It was good, and had a really good ending! I really wasn't sure how the movie would end, but I was happy with how it did go.
Today I went to church with my mom and grandparents in the morning, and in the early afternoon Bob and I went to his aunt and uncle's house for an early Easter dinner. My mom gave me an Easter basket, and there was some candy in it, and also two antique Easter eggs; one made out of tin, and one of paper mache. I love them!
Bob and I are watching "Easter Parade" tonight on TCM, and I can't wait! I think I may have seen it when I was little, but not since. It's a musical starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire; I love old musicals.
I'm supposed to be going antiquing with my mom in Adamstown tomorrow, and have been really looking forward to it; but, OF COURSE it's now supposed to snow!!! I am so TIRED of this, and sick of my plans getting ruined, ugh! Fingers crossed that we just get a dusting, and can still go.
Bob's uncle told us that Revered Horton Heat is playing a local place by us in June! We had no idea! (He's a big rockabilly act.) We are so excited to go; and it's on our wedding anniversary! How perfect, right?? It is on a Thursday night though, which is annoying, as I'll have to either come in late the next day, or take off. Either way, we're definitely going!
Isn't my PUG Birdie dress so perfect for Easter?! These colors!! I've worn it on Easter before, and had it for three or four years now.
