Christmas Cocktails

Hello there! I had a great four day weekend, and hope you all did, too. It was the perfect mixture of doing fun things, seeing family, and getting to do plenty of relaxing at home, too. It certainly went by very fast, and now Christmas is four weeks from today!
I went to an antique show on Saturday with my mom. She asked me the night before, and I wasn't sure at first, since I've been doing a lot of antiquing lately and obviously spending money doing that, and the Oldwick show is this coming Saturday, too. But, I ended up going, and I'm glad I did! I had never been to this show before, and my mom hadn't been in many years. It was about forty minutes from where I live, and I met my mom halfway, and then we carpooled from there.
It was a decent size show, with a few good antique holiday vendors. I saw some vendors I have seen at other shows, and also some I've never seen before. I bought three things myself: a $10 fruit print tablecloth in great condition, a snowman blowmold for $15, and a plastic Santa on a reindeer, in the original box, and it still lights up! I really wanted this amazing, gorgeous, huge pastel tree topper, but didn't want to spend the money, and I also had seen two multi colored ornaments I really liked it. I showed them to my mom, and luckily she bought them for me for Christmas! I'm so glad she did, because if we left without that tree topper, I really would've been kicking myself.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore on Saturday. I love breaking out my Christmas outfits! I wait all year to do this, ha. I really love this Heart of Haute cheery cocktail skirt that I got a year ago. Isn't this Erstwilder Christmas lights print too cute?!
I obviously love how bright it is! I got TONS of compliments on my outfit at the show, which is nice, but I'm trying concentrate on all the goodies I'm looking at, ha! I don't mind people telling me they love my outfit and what not, but I don't want to have to chat too long, and have them ask too many questions about my style!

Orlando

Hello there! I had a good, quiet Thanksgiving at Bob's aunt & uncle's house, with yummy food. It was the first Thanksgiving I didn't spend with my family, but I did see some of them on Wednesday night. Today I went to antiquing with my mom, about forty minutes from where I live. I got one plastic Santa for $13, but that was it. I was glad I didn't find anything else that I had to have, because a week from tomorrow I'm going to the Oldwick antique show, which I found a lot at last year, and have a feeling I'll see a lot that I want this year, too.
I don't have a lot going on this weekend, which I'm glad about. I'm running a couple of errands tomorrow, and I got my cleaning and laundry done today. I also made my first batch of Christmas cookies today, and decorated the tree. I've been watching Christmas movies lately, and I'll be watching "Love Actually" either tonight or tomorrow, one of my favorites.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva Orlando dress that I just got through the TD swap & sell Facebook group I'm in. It's definitely on the fancy side, so it's not a dress I'll be wearing to work or for errands! But, I liked that it's has a high cut neck, because most of my fancier dresses are low cut, so it's nice to have this option, too. It would be gorgeous for Christmas, and I probably will wear it either Christmas Eve or on Christmas.
I'm wearing a petticoat in these pictures. I got my first one last weekend while antiquing, and I love how it looks with some of my dresses, including this one. You can't beat a beautiful red dress, in my opinion! The zipper is quite tricky on this dress; it gets stuck on the top seam in the back of the dress, so much so that Bob can't even get it go up, so I have to flip the dress around to the front and zip it that way, and then flip it back, and very gingerly try and get my arms through the arm holes. It's not because the dress is too tight on me either; Trashy Diva is known for having this problem with many of its dresses, which is super annoying.

Mid Century Dream

Hello there! Yay, I'm so glad my long weekend has begun! We got out of work early today. at 12:30. Tonight Bob and I are going to my parent's for dinner, and my aunt, uncle, cousin, and grandparents will also be there. My aunt, uncle, & cousin are in from Texas, and tomorrow Bob and I will be going to his aunt and uncle's house. Friday morning my mom and I are going to antique mall and a couple of other little shops, about fourty minutes from me.
Unfortunately, Bob has to work on Friday; he never gets off on Black Friday.
Last night I went to Panera with a friend I hadn't seen since July. We've been getting together about every three or four months for awhile now. It's always nice to see her and get to catch up. I worked with her a horrendeous job, about seven years ago. I lasted less than four months there ha, before I quit with no notice, something I do not typically do. Even though the job was so terrible, I'm just glad I met her and have stayed in touch with her all of this time.
I'll definitely be doing some Black Friday/Cyber Minday shopping between now and Monday. I did place a couple of orders earlier in the week: a purse from Pinup Girl Clothing, and a Bernie dress. I also ordered some new Splendette bangles today (the new release went live this morning), and my mom's going to pay me back for some of them, and give them to me for Christmas. It was better that way, than placing two separate orders, and playing twice for international shipping!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter Go Retro Drive in dress, that I got back in May. I've worn it to work a lot since, and I just love the mid century modern print! I love this color combo too; it's a bit unusual. I'm not into brown, but I don't mind it here with all the other bright colors surrounding it.

Retro Market

Hello there! Bob and I had a good day out in Pennsylvania yesterday, in spite of the rain and traffic we encountered. It's just over a two hour drive to Lancaster for us, and we got there a little after 10 a.m. We went to the Retro Market antique show, and it was the very first one they'd had. The same people who put on Retro Fest in July (which we went to this past July), also put on the Retro Market. I hope they'll continue to put on both shows!
I had a lot of success yesterday. My best finds were two adorable vintage dresses for a total of $40! Vintage clothes shopping is not an easy feat, especially if you're not tiny, as the medium to larger sizes are harder to find. The red dress I got fits me pretty well, just a little big in the waist, and the gingham dress I got is very big in the waist, so I'm going to see if my mom can take it in for me, and for now, I'll just be belting it. I got my first vintage purse at the show, and it's a cheery shade of yellow. I got that for $15, and a blue flower enamel brooch for $8.
I also got a small fruit lithograph print that I'll hang on the wall. As for my Christmas-y finds at the show: I got a plastic Santa Claus cookie jar, a new book on vintage Christmas with the CUTEST graphics, a dish towel with a super cute, bright, bell print, and a smallChristmas gift for my mom.
The show was on the small side, but that's okay, because I got enough great finds! I also saw Joann there, a woman I met at the July show, after following each other on Instagram.
My dad happened to ask us Friday night when we saw him, if we'd be stopping in Adamstown on the way there or back. I totally forgot it's right on the route to Lancaster!
So, Bob wasn't excited ha, but he was very sweet and let me go to two antique malls in Adamstown on the way back. It was a long day for him, with all the shopping, driving in the annoying rain, and the traffic.
I found a few small items in Adamstown: a Christmas apron that I LOVE, a board game with adorable graphics, a really cute Scotch tape container, and my very first petticoat! Can you believe I never had a petticoat before?! I got it for $13, too, ha. I got really good deals yesterday! I definitely won't be wearing the petticoat to work, but I will start wearing it on weekends.
I'm really glad we went, and I'm looking forward to going to Retro Fest again, this July!
There's so much amazing antiquing out in that area of Pennsylvania,a nd I love going.
My mom and I are probably going to Adamstown over Christmas break. It's better when my mom brings me, instead of Bob, because she has more fun, ha.
Oh, and I got TONS of compliments on my outfit yesterday! First when I got to the show, I was walking around with my coat on (which also could be worn as a dress), and people thought I was wearing it as a dress, and were complimenting my outfit. I got hot later on, took of the coat, and then was getting compliments on my reindeer skirt outfit, and a couple people asked if I had changed my outfit, ha! Nope, just took off my coat.

Look at this whopper of a tree!!

Field Flowers

Hello there! Ah, what a crappy Monday it's been...it was raining, cold, and dreary all day, and it's always rough going back to work after a long weekend! It seems the last of the warm weather is probably gone until spring, unfortunately. We had an Indian summer, and it's hard to say goodbye to it, that's for sure.
Tonight I'm just taking it easy, tomorrow I am leaving work early, for a doctor's appointment, Wednesday night I'm going to a board meeting at work, Friday I'll be going to Panera for dinner with my dad, grandmother, and Bob, and Saturday is the Retro Market in Lancaster, which I have been looking forward to for months, and am so excited for!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress, in their new field flowers print in the Vivian style. This is my second Vivian, and I love this style. I think it's one of the more flattering Retrospec'd styles on me, and it's also really comfortable, and easy to wear. I think this big flower print is absolutely gorgeous, and I already got a few compliments on it. As soon as I saw it online, I fell in love with it, but I didn't want to pay for the shipping from Australia (Retrospec'd is an Australian brand, and their dresses are made there, as well). So, I contacted an American shop that carries the brand, and who I have bought from many times before, A Classic Paradise. Luckily, they ordered it, and it did take about three weeks to get it into my hands, but it was definitely worth the wait!

Red Fans Virginia

Hello there! I don't have too much going on today; I'll be running a couple of errands with Bob, working out, and doing a lot of relaxing at home. One of the errands we are running is going to a local mall to return a shirt I received in the mail recently. I haven't been to this mall in sooo long, probably a couple of years. It's funny, because I used to go almost every week!
Thursday morning I had a doctor's appointment, and in the evening I went out with friends for drinks. Yesterday I cleaned, did laundry, worked out, and did a lot of reading and Netflix/TV watching, ha. I also put out some more Christmas decorations, and took down some Halloween ones.
When I have long weekends like this, I don't like to be too busy. I do really love these long weekends though, and am excited that I only have to work a full week at work next week, and then have a 2.5 day work week the following week!
Christmas is a month and a half from today, not that I'm counting! I started doing a little Christmas shopping earlier this week. I normally start in November. I'm proud that I thought of some ideas for people on my own; it's usually pretty hard for me to come up with things.
I the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva red fans Virginia dress that I got a year ago when I was in New Orleans. The material has stretch to it, and is so comfortable. TD has only released two prints in this style so far, but I'm really hoping for more. I wear this dress a lot in the cooler weather. Speaking of cooler weather, it's currently 23 degrees out, and I'm really not looking forward to running errands when it's this damn cold out, ugh!

Part II Of My October Trip

Hello there! I have a four day weekend, which starts today! The school is closed today & tomorrow for teacher's convention. Last year I was in California during teacher's convention, so I'm excited to be at home, and doing a lot of relaxing this long weekend. I have a doctor's appointment today, and am hanging out with friends tonight.
Well, I'm finally getting around to blogging about the second part of my trip with my mom to New Orleans & Nashville! In my first post about the trip, I talked about the first part in New Orleans. In this post I'm going to talk about Nashville. We flew from New Orleans to Nashville on Thursday morning. The flight got in on time, and was quite a short flight, I think it was just over an hour. My mom and I took an Uber from the airport to my sister's apartment, where we picked up her car to use while she was at work (she rides her bike to work).
We had lunch at Nashville Palace, which is my favorite bar in Nashville; it's where a lot of the Nashville Boogie was held. There was a guy singing and playing guitar while we were there.

I think they have live music all day and night, every day/night. We also went to three antique malls, and I got a newly made canvas print of vintage kitchenware, and I also got one last year from the sale booth at that antique mall, and I also got a cheap bracelet. The woman running the antique mall where I got the print from recognized me from May. I thought that was neat! Her co-worker, who was probably about 15 years old, told me she liked my accent. Ha! I don't hear that too often. I love some southern accents (I think some are just TOO thick), and I do love Nashville and New Orleans accents.
When my sister got out of work we headed over there to hang out with her for a bit, before we went back to the house we were staying in (Air Bnb type thing), which was about ten minutes from her. Friday morning we headed out to Loveless Cafe, which is about half an hour away, but still is in Nashville. Bob and I went there in May, and loved it. It's quite famous, and has been around for a long time. I got the same meal as last time ha, I got a chicken salad sandwhich. They have amazing biscuits too, which are unlimited. On the way back to my sister's, we stopped at Pharmacy Burger, and we sat at the bar and I got an orange phosphate drink (it's orange soda and cream), and my mom got a milkshake.
My sister got out of work early, and we headed back to her place. We did some shopping nearby, and then headed to the airport to pick up my aunt & cousin who were coming in for the weekend, and live in Texas. We had dinner with them at a German restaurant in a mall. I just got a sald, and it was good. We dropped my mom and aunt off at the Grand Ole Opry afterwards; they were catching a show there. My sister, 15 year old cousin, and me headed over to Nashville Palace, and heard some live music, and my sister and I had a couple of drinks. We sat out on the porch in the comfortable nighttime weather. It was nice to catch up with my cousin; we usually see her only a couple of times a year.
On Saturday we headed to Franklin, a cute little town about half an hour from my sister's place. Bob and I also went there in May. We did some shopping and went out to lunch.
I didn't buy anything there. In the afternoon we left there, and they dropped me off at the airport. I LOVE the Nashville airport; it's tiny, and so fast and easy to get through. The airport by me, Newark, is unfortunately the opposite of that.
