Hawaiian Dream

Hello there! This weekend's been another pretty quiet one for me. Bob worked at our house all day yesterday, with his friend and dad. Acually, they worked on building our garage, which is going to be a longer process than Bob originally thought. Most of our siding is up on our house now, though.
Last night Bob and I went out for drinks in town. Next weekend will be more eventful, as we're going to a labor day bbq on Sunday, and Saturday I'm going to a flea market. I haven't been to a flea market since I was a child, and I'm really hoping this one is good.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Hawaiian Dream Claire dress. This dress is made out of stretch rayon, and is super comfortable. I have this style in another print, too. I don't find this style to be too flattering on me as is, so I belt it and wear a petticoat with it.
This is the first time I'm pairing this Enid Collins purse with it, and I love the combination.
I'm going to bring this dress to Europe with me, to wear to tiki bars in London. They picked such a stunning vintage print to do a reproduction of; this is definitely one of my all time favorite tropical/tiki prints I've ever seen.

French Quarter

Hello there! This week wasn't too eventful; Monday night we went to dinner for my grandmother's birthday, and yesterday I ran errands and cleaned, and also went over to our house, and swept for an hour and a half. I'm a little sore today from doing that. Our siding is going up on Tuesday, finally. It'll look more like a real house then.
Today we'll just be hanging at home, and tomorrow I'll be meeting up with two friends I used to work with, that I haven't seen in a year or so. One of them moved to Florida, and one to Pennsylvania, so I don't get to see them much anymore.
Bob has been plotting out our trip next month. He's hand drawn little maps for the cities we're going to, so that we can figure out which places are by each other, so we can hit them at the same time. It's nice to see him get excited about this trip, since he's definitely not one to show excitement!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress, that I got a couple of years or so ago. This print will always be special to me, as the French Quarter is my favorite place I've ever been! I'm hoping Bob and I can get back there soon for a long weekend; we haven't been together in three years; the last time I went was two years ago, with my mom.

Elsa

Hello there! It's been a fairly quiet weekend around here. Bob and I went to dinner on Friday, and yesterday he was busy all day and night, between working at our house, cooking, and running errands. Yesterday I went to an antique mall I hadn't been to in a few months, and I spent just $16, which was great. I got two small glasses and a set of vintage Coney Island postcards. The graphics on vintage postcards are so wonderful, and I've recently started looking for them. I especially love vacation/desination ones as well as Christmas ones.
I've been watching the last season of "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix. I think the show isn't as good as it was the first couple of seasons, but I'm still invested in it, although Bob isn't interested in it anymore. Bob and I also started the thid season of "Glow" on Netflix Friday night, when it was released.
Our planning mode for our trip in a month(!!) is in full swing now. Bob is also really into planning it, which is great! We've been watching and taking notes on the Ireland and England episodes of "The Layover" and "Parts Unknown"; Anthony Bourdain shows. I also have a lot of places saved in my Trip Advisor accont for the countries we're going to, plus I've written down recommendations I've gotten from people.
It's going to be tough when we've over there, trying to hit everything we want to hit, but we don't want to make the trip too booked/rushed, plus you always find more places to see once you're actually there, and also we get recommendations from locals once we're over there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Elsa dress that I got back in the winter. It's definitely not my usual color palette, and doesn't have my usual full skirt, but I still adore this dress. It's very 40's, but I often mix decades. In these pictures I'm wearing vintage 50's sunglasses, and a vintage 60's Enid Collins purse. I wore this outfit to dinner with Bob on Friday. I got this purse along with another beautiful EC purse on eBay a few months ago, for such a great price. I think it was about $40 for both, at the Buy it Now price! I couldn't believe my luck.

Wildflowers

Hello there! This weekend hasn't been too exciting, just been hanging out at home, and ran a few errands this morning. Bob's still so busy working on the house, that he doesn't have the time or energy to do anything else. I painted our front and back doors coral this past week.
I had never painted anything before, but they turned out pretty nice.
On Tuesday night Bob and I went to my parent's house for dinner. My aunt and cousin from Texas were there, who I only get to see a couple of times a year, and my grandparents were over. At the end of October we're having a 60th anniversary party for my grandparents, so my Texas kin will be up again then.
We finished booking everything for our Europe trip this week, which is a great feeling! Both our passports have come in, too. I just need to buy power adapters and snacks for our trip, but I think we're otherwise set! I even know what dresses I'm bringing, but that's not surprising.
I'm also packing a bathing suit, but I don't know if I'll actually be able to go into the water, as I looked up water temperatures for September, and it'll be chilly! We're staying right on the water in two of our hotels.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva Wildflowers Circle Day Dress. I already had this print in another style, but the day dress will be easier to wear to work, because it's more covered up than my Trixie is. This print is so big and beautiful. I love the fit on this dress too; I think it's quite flattering. The skirt has so much material in it! It's perfect for twirling. I'll definitely be bringing this one to Europe with me.

Love Me Tender

Hello there! We're still in quite the heat wave here, although luckily the humidity has dropped a lot, otherwise, it'd be unbearable outside. This Saturday's going to be the warmest day; it's supposed to be 97 degrees. I'm really enjoying summer, and wish it could stay forever. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't understand how seasons work, and they think that summer ends August 31st....we still have over two months left of summer. The first day of fall isn't until September 23!
Bob's been working SO much on our house lately. He goes there most nights after work, and most Saturdays all day. He loves working on it, but the drawback is it leaves him with hardly any down time. It's also frustrating when I want to go somewhere on a Saturday, especially because it's so nice out, but he can't go with me. I've really been itching to go Asbury Park for a day trip, and to go in the ocean, and I'm hoping we get to go one Saturday very soon!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress. I got this Love Me Tender Elizabeth dress for a great price during their recent sale. It's a lot of black for me to wear, but the pink rose print is just so stunning! I ahd thought abut buying it for a year or so, but never took the plunge.

Vintage Dream Of A Dress

Hello there! I'm loving this long weekend; I actually have a four day weekend, which is even better! So far it's been a good one. Friday I cleaned and did laundry, took a walk, and just stayed in at night and watched a movie. Saturday I went to Adamstown by myself (my mom was going to come, but ended up going out to Ohio with my dad instead), and last night Bob and I went out to dinner, and then stopped at a bar for a drink. Tomorrow we're going to his family's bbq.
I usually go to Adamstown twice a year, and I don't always find much, but it's still fun to go and look. It's about an hour & 45 minutes from me, but it's worth it. It's know as the antique  capital of the U.S., because of how many antique malls and shops there are there. My parents have been going there for about thirty years now. I didn't spend too much money yesterday, but still got a few items I really like, which is the perfect combination! I got a Lustroware cookie cansister (plastic) that  had wanted for awhile, and will look great in our red and turquoise kitchen in our house, an ice cream carton with Bing Crosby on it, a drinking glass with atomic stars on it, and some vintage postcards.
By the way, we closed on our construction loan for our house on Friday, FINALLY!!!! It's taken such an unbelievably long time, and the process has been fraught with frustration for us, but especially for Bob, who has been the one dealing with the bank and contractors. He works in the construction industry, which is the main reason why he is dealing with the contractors himself.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage dress that I got from Etsy. I haven't been buying many dresses lately, but this one really spoke to me. It has a zip front!!! I LOVE zip fronts; they're so much easier than a back or side zip, and buttons usually mean gaping, which I hate. Front zips on vintage dresses seem to be rare, too. When I saw the measurement sfor the dress, I crossed my fingers it'd fit me, since my measurements are an inch or two bigger than the dress, but it fits like a glove. I just adore that beautiful floral print, and I really love pink and turquoise together.

X Marks The Spot

Hello there! This weekend is a thee day weekend for me; as I took off on Friday, and next weekend I have a lovely FOUR day weekend!! We have off for Memorial Day, and then we also have off Friday, because we had an unused snow day, so they gave it back to the students and staff, which is awesome. I've also been having a busier/been doing more socializing this weekend than usual. It started with Thursday night, when I met a couple of friends for dinner, and then Friday I went over to a friend's place, and yesterday Bob and I went to my parents' house for dinner, along with my grandparents and aunt and uncle.
It seems like it's always all or nothing for me, that I'll go a little while without getting together with friends or seeing much family, and then all in one weekend, I'll do a lot.
Yesterday was an absolutely stunning day. It was 75 and very sunny, but not humid. A rare perfect day in New Jersey. In the afternoon, Bob and I went out for drinks, and we sat at a bar that kept the door open, and it was really nice. I'm REALLY loving getting to where my dresses without ANY layers on! In the mornings I do have a jacket on, and I go back and forth between three different ones, depending on how cold it is. But, by lunchtime, I don't need any layers.
We booked our long weekend getaway in June for our fith anniversary; we're going to Wildwood and Cape May, and staying in Wildwood at the fabulously 50's Caribbean Motel. Cape May is only 15 minutes from Wildwood. While Cape May is more beautiful than Wildwood, with lovely Victorian homes, it does not have the 50's feel and 50's motels of Wildwood, so that's why we stay in Wildwood.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Pirate Treasure Trixie dress. I got it over a year ago, and I've worn it so much since then. It's a go to dress for me in warmer months.
I just adore the print on it, and have to pair it with my fishy necklace, naturally. This new Splendette shade of tropical punch (bangles) matches the coral in the dress spot on.

Wildflowers

Hello there! Spring is in full force here; the flowers are blooming, and we've been getting our share of warm, sunny days. It's so nice that the sun stays out until around 7:30 p.m. now.
I love that! It was a gorgeous sunny 75 degree day yesterday, so I couldn't stay home all day. I took a drive to go to a couple of antique shops I hadn't been to in a few months. I found a super cute tablecloth for a good price, and a vintage bright red dish with a clear lid that's similar to Pyrex, but a different brand.
Bob and I are staying at home today, trying to get everything in place before we leave on Tueday(!!!). It's so crazy and exiting that it's SO close now! Since I'm an organizer by nature, I have written out an itinerary for us; mostly just to make sure we get to go to every plce we want to go while we're out there. It's difficult to plan things when you're going on a trip to attend a festival, but also want go to other places outside of the festival events. We'll definitely be busy, that's for sure!
I've been wearing a lot of florals lately, and am able to wear my lighter fabric dresses now that it's warmed up. In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Wildflowers Trixie dress that I got a couple of years ago, and have gotten TONS of wear out of. It's so comfortable and colorful.

Atomic Swag

Hello there! This weekend has been beautiful so far; warm and sunny, and I'm loving it! I couldn't stay at home all day yesterday, because of how out it was, so I went out for a couple of hours; I took a little drive to a couple of antique shops. I spent $23, and got a super cute vintage apron with flower carts on it, a repro starburst print kitchen towel, and a vintage bottle of lemon extract in the original box. That's the best kind of antiquing day; when I only spend a little bit of money, and get some things I really love.
Next Saturday Bob and I will be going to the post office to start the process of getting our passports!! I wanted to do it way in advance of us going to the UK and Ireland. We are planning on going on our trip around middle or end of September; we haven't booked anything yet.
Our Vegas trip is just over a week(!!!) away now, and I'm so beyond ready to go! I've started packing, and buying items we needed for the trip. Now that it's so close, I really hope time flies during the next week.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Atomic Swags t-shirt that I bought from Sourpuss Clothing. I LOVE the kitschy space print, and the color combo of bright red and turquoise, which is one of my all time favorite color combos. I previously didn't own any t-shirts, except the ones I work out and sleep in. The tote bag I picked up in Nashville matches perfectly!

Showgirl Royalty

Hello there! I've had a pretty nice three day weekend thus far. In spite or not doing a ton of things, it stills flies by, of course. Yesterday was the MOST perfect, gorgeous spring day!! It got up to 74 degrees, and was very sunny. I was happy to be out and about for a few hours, driving with my windows down and sun roof open. I met friends for lunch, and then went to an antique mall, where I found a couple of items. I could've bought more, but restrained myself.
Friday night Bob and I went out to dinner to a place we had never been to before, about fifteen minutes away. It was okay, but we probably won't go back anytime soon. It's nice to try new place sometimes though, despite the fact that I'm a creature of habit.
Tomorrow is April(!!!), and it'll be two weeks until we leave for our Vegas vacation. March went by really fast, so I'm hoping the trend continues, and that the next two weeks fly by. I'm beyond ready to go away.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Trashy Diva dress, that I got early in the month. I really love this gorgeous 1940's reproduction print, which is called Showgirl Royalty. The style I'm wearing is called the 1940's. I have I believe five TD 1940's dresses now. I really love wearing this style, even though it doesn't have the big, full circle skirt that dominates my closet.
The Enid Collins purse in the pictures is my latest EC. I love how the background color is blue, instead of the typical tan/off-white color, or black. This purse is in mint condition, which is very rare for EC purses; there's almost always at least wear to the handles (and even sometimes one or both handles will have broken), but this beautiful purse appears to be unused.

Beautiful Butterflies

Helo there! It's a beautiful, sunny SPRING day out! I'm SO glad that spring has finally arrived. It's still pretty cold in the morings, but the daily highs have slowly been inching up, which makes me a very happy girl. I don't know about you, but when springtime rolls around, my mood/general outlook definitely improves. It also smells really nice outside now, so I love having our windows open. I haven't noticed any flowers blooming yet, but hopefulyl very soon!
This weeked has been relatively quiet. Bob and I went out to dinner Friday night with his brother and father, to a local Italian restaurant that we frequent. I got a personal plain pizza, which is what I always get there, and it's so yummy. They did burn it a bit this time though, which I'm not a fan of burnt anything, but it wasn't too badly burnt that it ruined it. Yesterday Bob worked on a shed he's building on our property, and then he met a friend for dinner. I just stayed home, and did super fun things like cleaning, laundry, and working out!
Oh, and I also started watching a Netflix show about the dissapearance of Madeleine McClain. I'm a little over halfway through. I'm a sucker for true crime stories.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Bernie Dexter butterfly Kelly dress. I've never owned a dress with butterflies, and I love this print. The colors are amazing. Butterflies are so gorgeous, aren't they?? I think this is a very appropriate dress for spring, too!

Pennsylvania Trip

Hello there! Yesterday I spent the whole day shopping with my mom in Pennsylvania. We went to an antique mall, an antique show, a holiday shop, went to lunch, and picked up my Heywood Wakefield coffee table from a dealer's mother's house (where he stores the pieces he restores). The coffee table spins, which is really neat! My parents are going to drop it off to us this week, and we're going to put it in our apartment now, instead of waiting to put it in our house we're building. It was a fun day, plus the sun was shining the whole time, and it wasn't bitterly cold out!
I bought some Easter bunnies (newly made out of antique molds), my mom bought me a gorgeous pink feather tree, which I already put up, a $3 vintage "Good Housekeeping" Christmas magazine (from 1949),  a vintage Christmas pop-up children's book (from 1951), a small vintage plastic bunny, and an Easter card from the 20's. I have a few feather trees now, but this pink one is definitely my favorite!
Friday night I went over my friend's apartment to visit, and today Bob and I will just be hanging out at home. I'm glad the clocks went ahead last night! I won't be getting blinded by sun glare on my commutes anymore, which is great; that was getting old. Spring really is just around the corner now!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter landscape print Kelly dress. I got this back in September, and have worn it every week or every other week since then! It's truly a staple in my closet. The print is absolutely stunning, and I love pairing it with pops of red.

SO cute! I wanted to buy it, but resisted

I wanted this blue tree, too!
