Red Fans Anne

Hello there! Well, I got some packing done yesterday, but I definitely have a lot more to do, so I'll be working on that today. I'll also be working out, and visiting my grandmother, and later on, my parents.
Tomorrow after work Bob and I will meeting with an architect for the first time, about plans for a stick built home. We gave up on the modular home idea, because the only modular home company anywhere by us (and it's 1.5 hours away) is impossible to get ahold of. We're sick of waiting for them to get back to us. Ugh, trying to get a house is so ridiculousy frustrating. First it was frustrating looking at houses, then it was frustrating trying to get info on a modular home, and now we'll see how this new direction goes.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva red fans Anne dress. This dress is soooo comfortable! It's made out of stretch cotton. I hope TD releases more stretch cotton dresses soon! The straps are adjustable via buttons in the back, and that's always a bonus for me. When I have the option to do it like this, I shorten the straps. I haven't worn this dress in awhile, because in the cooler months I wear this print in the Virginia shirt dress that I also have. I love the cornflower shade of blue that's in the print. It's not as common in prints as other lighter, darker, or brighter shades of blue.

Mum's The Word

Hello there! Today is a yucky, cool, rainy day out. The past three weekends it's rained all weekend, or most of the weekend. It's supposed to warm up here starting  this Tuesday, but we leave Wednesday, ha. Hopefully it'll be really nice out when we get back, too. Isn't it crazy the way that time works?? For some long our Nashville trip seemed soooo far way, and now here it is, only 4 days away!! I'm so excited to explore a new city.
Bob and I are just staying home today. He's doing a lot of cooking, and I've been cleaning, and doing laundry. I'll also work out and do some reading and outfit pictures, oh, and do some packing! I've barely packed so far. I need to plan out my outfits more, too!
On Thursday I met up with three friends that I used to work with at a previous job. We get together once a month at a nearby restaurant. It was nice to catch up with them. My plans didn't work out last night, so I just went to Target, and then stayed in with Bob. Tomorrow (Mother's Day) we'll be seeing my grandmother, and depending on when my parents get home from their trip, I'll be seeing them, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my trusty Bernie Dexter mums Kelly dress. I've had it for almost a year now, and it's gotten A LOT of wear. I wear it to work a lot. I think the print is simply gorgeous, and since it's a Kelly, it's so easy to wear, and very comfortable. I did pair it with different accessories this time. I usually wore the coral bangles with it, but I also added in this seafoam green Splendette bangles that match the green in the dress quite well. I had also never worn these light green earrings with the dress before, but was happy to find that they also matched. I usually wear the dress with my pink BAIT Iones, but switched this time to these coral BAIT Hansels.

Candy Shop

Hello there! One week from today Bob and I will be heading to Nashville! I'm sooo excited.
I love exploring cities I've never been to before. My sister lives there, but she'll be in Europe with her fiance while we are in Nashville. She just got engaged last Friday! We'll be staying at their apartment for two nights while we are in Nashville, which'll be nice, since we'll save some money that way. She's also letting us use her car, so we'll also save money that way, although obviously when we go to bars we'll use an Uber.
I'll be seeing my friend Sara (of the blog http://www.inanutshellblog.com/) and her boyfriend while we're there, so that just adds to my excitement! They are also coming there for the Boogie. I haven't seen her in a year, since Viva Las Vegas last year. I met her IRL about a year and a half ago, at the New England Shake Up (it's held in Massachusetts).
We had been online friends, thanks to our blogs and Instagram.
I have more plans than normal the next few days. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for a drink after work, Friday Bob and I are going to a friend's house, Sunday we'll be seeing my grandmother, and if my parents get home early enough (they've been on vacation), I'll be seeing them too, Monday Bob and I are meeting with an architect (about building a house), and Tuesday night I'm going to a board meeting at work. I'll be busier than I'd like to be, that's for sure.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Unique Vintage candy shop skirt. I scored it during a sale they had, where certain skirts were $40, and then I used a $5 coupon, so I got the skirt for $35! I had adored this print since it came out a few months ago. It came out at the same time that the gumball skirt did, which I just got for $25 at Viva. There's so many colors in this skirt, so it's super easy to pair shirts, shoes, and jewelry with it. I think next time I'll wear my mint Sabrina top with the skirt, instead of the white one I'm wearing here. I also couldn't resist pairing the skirt with my Modcloth cupcake sandals! These sandals are too cute. They're really comfortable, too.

Vegas, Part II

Hello there! Well, I'm finally posting about the second part of my Vegas trip! So when I last posed about my trip, I wrote about Wednesday night - Friday. Saturday was the car show; and is the "biggest" Viva day. We got over to the car show early, a little after it opened. We first went to the vendors, which is what we always do; wouldn't want things to start to sell out before we get to them. I found a few items: a $25 Unique Vintage gumball skirt I had been eyeing online since it came out months ago, a Brighter Bakelite beautiful bright blue bangle, a couple of hair flower pieces, and a big Lux De Ville purse which was normally priced at $95, but I scored for $40! I didn't get too many things, but I was happy with my haul.
After we hit the vendors, we went over and looked at all the cars. It does get really crowded at the vendors and where the cars are, so that is one annoyance. We had lunch at the car show too, I just got a burger from a food vendor. I met Katy, woman who runs the Etsy shop Luxulite, Jesse, the man who runs Brighter Bakelite, and Micheline Pitt! They were all SO sweet. I was really glad I got to meet them. I got a picture with all of them, too.
Other than the shopping, the big highlight of the day was watching Reverend Horton Heat perform. Bob was most excited to see RHH, out of everything at Viva. Bob had a couple of his CDs, but we hadn't seen him live before. I hadn't been as into his music previously, but after seeing him perform, I was more into it! It was an AMAZING show! I was really impressed, and loved the whole show. I'd love to see him perform again, and I wish he was playing at the Boogie! I was really happy that Bob loved the show too, because he's so patient when I shop and do all the things I want to do at Viva, so I wanted him to really get to enjoy something.
Before RHH, Brenda Lee had been performing. I had wanted to catch her whole performance, but it didn't work out, and we only saw her last song, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". The reason I missed the rest of it was because I went to a Trashy Diva meet up at the car show, where I met some girls from the TD Facebook group I'm in.
We talked for a little while, and took some pictures by the Viva car.
Bob and I were at the car show all day, and  I think we left around 7:00 p.m. to go back to our hotel room to "freshen up".  We went out again to Frankie's that night.
On Sunday morning, Bob and I took a walk on the strip. We walked down to the Wynn hotel, which we had never checked out before. But, I wanted to go there because I had seen pictures of a beautiful hot air ballon and carousel they have in the hotel, which are made out of flowers! They were both sooo gorgeous, and they had other beautiful decorations there, too. After we check out the Wynn, we went across the street to Sugar Factory, and I got a birthday cake milkshake to go. It was really good!
We finally got to hang out with my friend Lisa on Sunday. She had been in Vegas since Thursday, but was there with a few people, and us meeting up didn't end up working out until Sunday.  She met us at the Baliwick Pub in the afternoon (at the Orleans). Bob and I had had an early dinner there, and then moved over to the bar. There was a band playing on the stage there, too. Lisa showed up with her friend, and we hung out at the bar there for awhile. After that, Bob and I went back to our hotel room to get ready to go out that night with Lisa. We went to Frankie's with her first, and met two really nice women who were at the bar. They were in Vegas for Viva, too, and the one woman recognized me from Instagram. I talked to them for a long time, until they left.
We went to the Double Down Saloon next. The three of us had never been there before. The same people who own Frankie's also own DDS. It's a total dive bar, but we all like dive bars, and prefer them actually. I was pretty tired by this point, and didn't want to be out long.
We saw one band play, and then part of another band's performance before we left. Lisa ended up staying there once we left, because wshe was enjoying the music. I thought both bands were really good and was surprised, ha.  They were very different in sound though.
The first one sounded like indie rock, and the second was heavy rock, a bit too heavy for me, but the woman who sang in the second band had a really amazing voice.
Monday we took it easy. It had pretty much been a blur the past three days, and we were really looking forward to slowing down. We checked out the Arts District of Vegas, which we had never been to before. They have a few antique shops there, and I got a marbled green lucite bangle at one of them. The one shop I waned to check out most of all was unfortunately closed that day. There were some other shops we walked by that were also closed, but we went in about four shops.
We went out to dinner that night to celebrate Bob's 33rd birthday. We just went to Caros & Charlie's in our hotel (a chain Mexican restaurant). After that we went to a few places.
We went to Sugar Factory and sat at the bar. I had one drink there. Their drinks are so expensive (mine was $16!), but I knew that before, as I've been to a couple of their restaurants before. We then went to Senor Frogs, another Mexican chain restaurant.
We sat at the bar there, too. I had a drink, and Bob had a drink and more food. They are also on the pricier side, but most places in Vegas are pricey for drinks. I just hate paying $9 or $10 for a Vodka cran. It really irks me! We stopped in Casino Royale on the way back to our hotel. It's a really divey, small casino that Bob likes. He did some gambling there. Our last stop before bed was the Margaritaville bar in our hotel. We ended up talking to a woman from Austrlia for a long time, probably about an hour or so. She was easy to talk to. She was traveling alone. She had first gone to San Francisco, and after Vegas was going to NYC for 9(!!!) days! I'd be nervous to travel alone like that and wouldn't do it. One of the main reasons I wouldn't is because I'm shy, but for someone as outgoing as this woman, it'd be a different story.
We left Vegas on Tuesday. We had a great time. We won't be going to Viva next year. Bob says he needs a break from it ha, and I'm okay with it.

Carnival Trixie

Hello there! I'm so glad that it's May! The best weather months/my favorite weather months in NJ are definitely May-September. Bob and I have been planning to go to New Hope for the day this Saturday, but of course the weather prediction is rain for the day...I'm hoping that'll change between now & then, though. If it does end up raining, we'll probably go to Bethlehem instead, since we don't have to walk much there at all. Either way, I'm looking forward to being out for the day!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva carnival print Trixie dress. I already did a post recently about this print in the Annette style. This is my first Trixie dress, ever.
I had a coupon for TD that I got at Viva, so I placed an order for this dress, along with two others. I ended up not keeping the others; I wasn't in love with them on me. But, this was the one that I loved AND loved on me!
I very rarely buy prints in multiple styles, in fact, I think currently this is my only double TD print. This one is more comfy than my Annette, because it has stretchy side panels, so it's not as tight on me as my Annette. I wore this one to work today, and I'm going to reserve my Annette for non-work occassions. I have some extra room in the waist in this one, but it fits my bust well, so I couldn't have sized down on this one. I had emailed TD's customer service before placing my order, to ask them which size I should get, and I followed their advice.
I had to pair my Erstwilder balloon brooch with this dress, as there are balloons in the print!
I can never resist a good theme, ha.

A Dress Fit For A BBQ

Hello there! Yesterday I was at a bbq all day at Bob's parents' house for his and his brother's birthdays. It was the first bbq this year, and the weather was gorgeous yesterday!! We've had so many cloudy and/or rainy days lately, but yesterday the sun was out, and it was about 80 degrees, and breezy. We got there around 2:00 p.m., and got home at 11:00 p.m. More people showed up there than I thought would, and Bob had a lot of fun. He doesn't get to see his friends too much, so I was happy for him that he got to see a few of them yesterday (some of his extended family came, too).
Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch at Panera (we were supposed to meet Friday night, but we rescheduled for today), working out, going to Home Goods, which I haven't been to in months, and just reading, watching TV at home.
I'm really looking forward to next Saturday, when I'm going to New Hope for the day, with Bob. We haven't been there in quite awhile.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter bbq dress that I've had for two years.
It truly is one of my favorite Bernie prints. I usually wear it from around April - September, so I haven't worn it since last August or September. I was so happy to break it out again!
It's such a fun, retro print that really is perfect for a bbq. I'm also wearing my favorite fruit necklace. I got this about a year and a half ago at an antique mall, although it's not an antique, ha. It was made by a French designer, Marion Godart.

Watermelon Skirt

Hello there! Well, it's still very gloomy around here; it hasn't been sunny this week at all.
I can't wait to see & feel the sun again. But, I am endlessly glad and thankful that winter is OVER, and that trees and flowers are blooming everywhere!
I'm not doing much tonight or tomorrow night, but Friday night I'm meeting my friend for a drink, and Saturday I'll be going to Bob's parents' house for the bbq him & his brother are having for their birthdays.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Unique Vintage watermelon skirt that I got a year ago, and have posted about before. I haven't worn in quite awhile, and I can't wait to break it out now that it's springtime! I also just happily discovered that my long sleeve pink cardigan matches this skirt quite well. I'm not a big fan of UV; I've had issues before with a pre-order item & their customer service, and also their shipping takes FOREVER. So, I rarely buy from them now. But, I did just order their candy shop print skirt, because it was on sale, plus I had a coupon, ha (paid under $40!). It's the same style of skirt as this one, but with the most adorable, bright candy shop print! I've admired it on others for awhile, but didn't want to pay full price for it, so I'm glad it finally went on sale (the sale was temporary, just over last weekend).

Sundae Kelly

Hello there! Well, it's hard to believe that my spring break is almost over with! I go back to work tomorrow. It's a hard transition after having a week and a half off. It always is, no matter how much I like or don't like a job, but of course the fact that I like my job makes it a lot less hard to go back! Snce I've gotten back from vacation, I haven't done too much outside of the apartment. But, I've certainly enjoyed all the relaxing I've gotten to do! I did go out last night to a local bar with Bob, and my friend met us there later. Bob wanted to go out for his birthday. We did celebrate in Vegas too, just the two of us. Also, this coming Saturday him and his brother are having a joint birthday bbq at his parents' house. So, he's having lots of celebrations this year, ha! I'm looking forward to the bbq, the first of the season.
Today I went to Panera for lunch with my mom and grandmother. I love Panera, and hadn't eaten at one in a little while. My grandmother loves to go there too, and she recently moved back here from California. Other than that, I worked out earlier and did some reading. I'm currently reading "The Zookeeper's Wife". It's a true story that takes place in Poland during WWII. I want to see the movie too, which just came out. I'm not doing much else today. Preparing myself mentally to go back to work tomorrow, ha!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter ice cream sundae Kelly dress, which I posted about once before. I've had it a couple of months. But, my BAIT Remmys are new!
I got them from Zulilly recently. It was my first purchase ever from Zulilly. I've heard some items take awhile to ship, but luckily these shipped immediately. I had liked the look of the Remmy style since they first came out a couple of years or so ago, but I never made the plunge to buy them. I'm glad I did! I love how they look with my dresses, and they seem comfortable so far.

Vegas, Part I

Hello there! I'm going to post about the first part of my Vegas trip. We got to our hotel toom Wednesday night around midnight. We had booked a non-smoking room, but when we got there, they said they had no non-smoking rooms left, and they placed us in a smoking room. I wasn't happy about it at all, but we didn't have a choice. This has never happened to us before anywhere. We were staying at the Flamingo, and it was our forth time staying there. They told us we could switch rooms the next day, but that didn't end up happening. So, we didn't get into a non-smoking room until the day after. We were both disappointed with the Flamingo, and I don't know if we'd stay there again. We didn't like the way they handled the situation either, which is, basically they acted as if they didn't care.
But, moving on, we went out for a couple of drinks in the hotel that first night, and then just went to bed. We had been up for 24 hours by the time we went to bed. Thursday we headed over to the Orleans in the morning to pick up our Viva wristbands. Luckily the line was very short, and it only took a couple of minutes. After that we headed out to lunch near our hotel, and then we went over to Frankie's Tiki Room. There were only a few people there, so that was really nice. The bartender we had was great too; we had never had him before on previous Vegas trips. We stayed at Frankie's for awhile, and then headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading back to the Orleans. When we got back over to the Orleans we watched some music and went to the vendor rooms. I only picked up a hair flower there.
On Friday we went to the Charleston Antique Mall; we had never been there before, but I had heard good things about it. It was a decent sized place, but we didn't end up buying anything there. Before that we went to the Bellagio in the morning, to look at their conservatory & botantical garden. They change their display there seasonally, and we always make sure to stop there on our Vegas trips. The displays are beyond gorgeous and amazing! They had a Japanese spring theme this time.
We went to the Orleans to watch some music, and we went to Balliwick Pub for the first time. We ended up going there three days during our trip. We really liked it there, and they also had a stage with live music going on. The food was good, too. We went to the Peppermill for an early dinner, and then we went to check out their lounge (it's attached to the restaurant). We had tried to check out the lounge last year, but it had been closed for a private party.
The lounge was okay, if a bit of a let down, ha. There was one fire pit inside, and it did give off a lot of heat, but Bob got hot quickly, and we went back to sit at one of the bars in the lounge. After we left there, we headed to Frankie's. It was much busier there, and we could only find seating on a bench (there were no seats at the bar), and the guy who was already sitting on the other side of the bench started talking to us. We talked to him and then his friends for awhile, but itt was really loud in there, making it hard to hear.
In my next blog post I'll write about the remainder of the trip.
