Flamingos & Lobsters

Hello there! I haven't been up to much this week, as of yet.  I ran a litle errand after work each night this week, but that's been it. On Saturday Bob and I are going to Bethlehem to go out to eat, and go to a store. We are also going to check out an antique store on our way back home (well, it's a bit out of the way), that we've never been to before. It's also Bob's dads' birthday this weekend, and so we'll be going to his parents' for cake either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon; not sure which yet.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Hell Bunny flamingo dress that I got from Unique Vintage about three years ago. It's an oldie, but a goody. I think it's a flattering style, and I loveee the print. Can't go wrong with a good flamingo print! I also have this Hell Bunny style in a seahorse print. I used to have a lot of Hell Bunny, but I'm not very into the brand anymore. The quality isn't the best (material is thin), and also I haven't really been into their prints in awhile. They are pretty cheap in price, which is great. I have one other flamingo pritn dress (Banned Apparel brand), but I like this Hell Bunny one the best. I always pair it with this flaming brooch, because how could I not?? I also thought my new Splendette bangles pair quite nicely with the outfit.

Hello there! Well, yesterday I had a busier Saturday than usual. I cleaned the apartment, did laundry, and worked out in the morning and early afternoon. Bob and I went over to his parents' house for dinner. Bob made tacos over there. After we got back home, I left shortly to go meet my friend for a drink. I got back home a little after 11:00. Today will be a lot quieter; Bob and I will just be at home.
I don't have plans yet for the upcoming week, except that this Saturday Bob and I will be going to Bethlehem for an early dinner and to go to a couple of shops. We were supposed to go last weekend, but ended up not, because of the snow prediction. It ended up not snowing, and so that was annoying!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress. These COLORS! I just adore this color palette, and the background shade of pink is sooo perfect. The print looks like it really could've been a vintage print, AND it may just have been, because very often Retrospec'd releases exact copies of vintage prints. If you can't make out what the print is: it's flamenco dancers and matadors.
This style is called the Elizabeth, and it's my first Retrospec'd Elizabeth. It fits pretty well; it's a little tight on my chest, and a little loose in the waist, but that's par for the course for me. I ordered my normal Retrospec'd size, but sizing does vary somewhat in their styles. Their size charts are pretty accurate though; they individual size charts for each dress.

Big Band Bows

Hello there! Last night Bob and I stayed in, and watched TV. I also tried out a new hair tool I received called Roll & Go. I wanted to try it out, mainly to help with victory rolls. It comes with an instruction book, too. The tool definitely does help create victory rolls, but I still need more practice with it. It's not as easy as the instruction book makes it seem, naturally. I want to get my rolls looking nice before we leave for Vegas!
I'll be cleaning, doing laundry, and working out today, and this afternoon Bob and I are going to his parents' house for dinner, which Bob will be making over there. Once we get home from that, I'll be getting ready to go meet my friend for a drink.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Trashy Diva dress that I recently received from doing a dress trade with someone in the Trashy Diva Facebook group I'm in. I had never done a dress trade before. This dress had been one I wanted to find for a long time, and now I finally have my paws on it. I've been pretty lucky that I've found my biggest TD unicorn dresses. There's a couple other older TD prints I wouldn't mind getting, but nothing I REALLY am after. You really have to be patient when searching for TD unicorns; it can definitely take years to find them.
Anyway, back to this dress. I first received it last Saturday, and was so excited to try it on. But, unfortunately no matter how we tried to zip it up (it's a dreaded side zip), the zipper wouldn't budge over the waist seam. Bob could see the dress was big enough for me, but that damn zipper just wouldn't move up any more. So, that day I dropped it off at the dry cleaners (they also replace zippers). I impatiently waited until yesterday to pick it up. I put it on as soon as I got home, and voila, it zipped!
TD only ever released one print in this dress style. I'm hoping they'll bring this style back, because I love it! I think it's quite flattering. I like the contrast of the solid red top part, with the print skirt part. Also, now I have another fruit print in my closet! Never enough fruit prints for me, ha. This print is called Big Band Bows, and the dress style is called Jaclyn.
It seems like a 1940's style to me. The majority of my wardrobe is obviously quite 50's, but I do have some 40's styles as well, and I do love both eras, clothing wise, although 50's will always be my favorite.

Tiki Time

Hello there! Well, it's officially spring now, which makes me very happy! Spring & summer are my two favorite seasons; summer being my #1 favorite. It didn't feel like spring today though; it was cold and windy, but it was sunny. I can't wait until Saturday, when it's supposed to be 65! I really can't wait until three weeks from today (!!!), when I'll be basking in the intense Vegas sunlight. It sounds so close now, I just hope these weeks don't drag.
We get back from our trip on a Tuesday (which happens to be Bob's birthday!), and then I have off the rest of the week from work, because it's spring break that week. So, I'll have a nice long break from work.
On Monday after work I met up with a friend who I hadn't seen in around a year. I met her six years ago at a job we worked at. It was nice to see her and catch up. We are planning on getting together again April or May. She and I have both worked at awful places run by terrible people, but we both love our current jobs. I'm happy for her and for me! I don't have many other plans this week, but on Saturday Bob and I are going to his parents' house for dinner (Bob is cooking the meal: tacos), and after that I'm meeting up with a friend for a drink. Oh, and tomorrow night my parents are stopping over our place. They are dropping off a suitcase for us to bring to Vegas.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Pinup Girl Clothing Hawaiian Hideaway dresses. I am of course bringing this dress to Vegas! I can't wait to wear this exact outfit at Frankie's Tiki Room. Frankie's is my favorite bar, not just in Vegas, but anywhere! I'm wearing one of my two newest hair pieces that I just received from Stardust Dames Boutique. They have an Etsy shop, and I had ordered from them a couple of times before. This hair piece matches so perfectly with this dress!

Haute Harlequin

Hello there! Well, tomorrow is SPRING!!! I'm so glad about that. It seemed to take so long to get here. Now, if only the weather would warm up considerably, that'd be terrific!
Yesterday I had a dental cleaning (ugh!), but was glad to hear I didn't have to come back for any work! That doesn't happen to me very often, and one big reason is because I grind my teeth when I sleep, and was damaging my existing fillings, and kept needing them fixed.
Last night Bob and I went out for a couple of drinks. The first couple places we tried to go to didn't pan out; one place had a packed bar, and one was closed already. So, we just went to Applebee's, even though I'm not a fan of that place. We originally were going to go to Bethlehem yesterday afternoon, but it was supposed to snow, so we didn't do that. Of course it ended up not accumulating at all; we only got flurries.
This coming week I have more plans than usual: Monday I'm meeting a friend for dinner after work, Friday I'm meeting up with a friend, and Saturday night Bob and I are going to his parents' house, and he'll be cooking us tacos there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Heart of Haute harlequin dresses. Out of all my harlequin dresses, this color scheme is my favorite. I got the dress a couple of years or so ago. It's quite comfortable, too. I love these purple & teal Splendette bangles together.

Candy Kelly

Hello there! Well, this is the second day in a row I've had off of work, due to the weather. We got about 20" of snow yesterday! Bob was plowing all day and part of the night. He got back home around 10:00 p.m., and he's sleeping in today. I knew we'd have off yesterday, but I wasn't sure about today, since it stopped snowing around 6:00 p.m. last night. But, I'm sure all the roads weren't clear in time for students to get to school. There's a lot of country roads around here that are windy, steep, etc. I'm glad we didn't loose power yesterday; it was quite windy at times. I did a lot of reading, watched two movies ("The Dressmaker" & "The Book Thief"), worked out, etc. I had gone to the library Monday night in preparation. I only took out two movies though, the ones I watched yesterday, so today I may be watching one On Demand from our TV. I've been in PJs since yesterday, ha. No point in getting dressed!
Four weeks from today, I'll be in Vegas! I have a good idea of what outfits I'm bringing.
I can't wait to be in the warm, sunny weather. Hopefully when we get back home, it'll be war and sunny here, as well. I'm going during my spring break from school, and I won't have to use any of my vacation days, which is great!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter candy print Kelly dress. I got it back in October, and have worn it a lot since then. How could I not; it has two of my favorite things: rainbow colors and a food print! To some, the print may come off as strictly a seasonal Halloween dress, but I think there's enough candy in the print that's not seasonal, that I'm good with wearing it year round. I adore the Splendette bracelets I'm wearing with this dress; the big starburst one in the center may be my very favorite of all my Splendette.
I also included a picture below of most of my recent Splendette delivery (I also received three orange bangles). Aren't those pastel bangles perfection?! I used to be very much a brooch girl, and felt naked without one on. Now, I do still love brooches, but I feel naked without bangles, too! They are both such great ways to elevate an outfit.

A PA Day

Hello there! Well today is freezing and really sunny out, but we're supposed to get hit with a blizzard, starting Monday night. Even though that's only tomorrow night, things could still change before then. Before last week, we had only used ONE snow day for winter (we have 5 built in to the calendar), but we used another on Friday, and now, more than likely will be using at least one this week.
Well, I had a really good time yesterday, shopping in PA with my mom. I got back home to my place around 3:30 or so. Our first stop was two hours away, at Stamm House. Kay Stamm makes beautiful vintage reproduction holiday decorations. Her shop is always so gorgeous; she makes such cute displays. She had a lot of new Easter items this time, which I was very happy about. She had been closed since December; she always closes during the winter, and yesterday was opening day. We're usually there about an hour. The shop isn't very big, but there's so much to look at, and decisions to make! I always have pictures on my phone of my existing Stamm House collection, so I make sure I'm not buying duplicates. She had a good amount of Christmas items out, and a little Halloween. I only bought Easter items this time. Of all three holidays, her Easter items are my favorite, because of the colors! Another nice perk is that a lot of the items are small in size, and easier for me to display and store.
After we left her shop we stopped at the antique mall we always go to, but I didn't find anything there. We then went to two more antique malls that I had never been to. I did find a few cheap items at those two places. I got a set of vintage dish towels, a pitcher and glass set for our bar cart, a smalll sour cream glass, which is also on our bar cart, and an old dessert canister which has a really cute design, and I put on our kitchen counter. The problem with antiquing is how much I see that I want to buy, ha! I saw a lot of Pyrex I would have liked, but held myself back on that. I posted pictures below of my finds.
I wore one of my Bernie Dexter paint palette Kelly dresses yesterday. I have worn this one a few times since I got it a month ago (and also posted a blog featuring it). I now have three Bernie dresses with palette prints. It's such a fun, bright print, and the paint palette brooch and earrnings I have are so perfect with them!

I already had the donut cookie jar, but the bunny & canister were finds
                                 from yesterday.
