Celebrating

Hello there! This past Thursday night (Thursday was our four year wedding anniversary) Bob and I went to the Reverend Horton Heat show, about twenty minutes from us. Lara Hope & the Arktones opened, and Big Sandy sang some songs with Reverend Horton Heat. I had never seen Big Sandy before, and he was excellent! He sang traditional rockabilly, covers and originals. I've seen Lara Hope three times now, and RHH twice. When we saw RHH previously, it was at Viva and he was the headliner, so tons of people were there. This time, it was a much more intimate venue. There were probably about 100 people. We stood pretty close to the stage, as well, which was great. I'm really glad we went!
We met Big Sandy too, and talked to Lara Hope & her band, which was the second time I have met Lara Hope & her band. Big Sandy was super nice!
I was pretty much the only girl there dressed in vintage repro; there were just maybe three others that had on Hell Bunny type dresses. I'm not surprised that I didn't see more ladies dressed like me, as I expected as much, since I never see anyone dressed remotely like me around here.
Friday evening I met my friend for a drink, and on Saturday night Bob and I went out to dinner and then for drinks in town, to celebrate our anniversary. The pasta dishes we got for dinner weren't great unfortunately, but when we left the restaurant, to go for drinks, that was much better. We went to another Italian restaurant, and sat at the bar. I also got dessert while we were at the bar, which was great: a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream on the side.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Diva Holiday Maria dress that I wore out on Saturday night. I absolutely adore wearing this beautiful dress, and I got a lot of compliments on my outfit. Also, a little girl asked me if I had come from a costume party, ha!
Surprisingly, I don't think I've been asked that before.

Lanterns Gigi

Hello there! So far it's been a scorching hot week here; yesterday it reached 90, and was humid. Our power even went out for forty-five minutes last night, but luckily it came back on before we went to bed, or else I don't know how we would've been able to sleep without a/c/! A couple minutes after the power went out, I was already uncomfortably hot.
I'm excited to go to the rockabilly show on Thursday with Bob, only two days away now (it's also the first day of summer, and our fourth wedding anniversary)! Tomorrow night I'll be going to Panera for dinner with Bob, my dad, and grandmother.
Fingers crossed that Bob and I are going to Asbury Park for the day on Saturday. He knows I really want go, but he hasn't let me know yet if that's what we'll be doing.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a beautiful Retrospec'd Gigi dress that I got on sale recently, and on top of it, I used a 20% off discount code, so I got it for a really great price!
I had liked this print for a long time, too. I love beautiful Asian inspired prints, and Asian lanterns are no exception.
I ordered the dress in my size, but after I placed the order, Retrospec'd contacted me to let m know they actually were sold out in my size. They offered me the next size up, and I took it, knowing the dress would definitely be big on me, and it is really big in the waist. So, I have to wear it belted, and that does help a lot. Since I love red dresses, it's a plus that this dress has a nice red background.
If you order directly from the Retrospec'd website, which I don't do much, the shipping is expensive; it's $19, but it does come insanely fast. It comes to me within three days of it being shipped, all the way from Australia! When I order from PUG or Unique Vintage, which are located in California, it takes 7-8 days. What a difference!
I've been wearing this Remix Vintage Shoes purple sandals A LOT, since I received them.
They are VERY comfortable, and that shade of purple just can't be beat.

Gloria

Hello there! Today's another gorgeous, sunny, warm day. We've had a string of them lately, and it's been much needed. It's going to be 93 degrees on Monday, too!! I know Bob isn't happy about working outside in that HOT weather. Hopefully the humidity doesn't soar, too.
Tomorrow night Bob and I are going to my parents' house, along with his father, for dinner. Sunday afternoon we're going out to eat with Bob's family at a local Italian restaurant.
It's supposed to be sunny this weekend too, which is great.
Bob and I are excited to go to a rockabilly show this coming Thursday, for our anniversary!
We'll also be celebrating next Saturday, but I'm not sure yet what we'll be doing. I have my fingers crossed for a day trip. Bob has so many hobbies, that he doesn't like to go out too much on weekends, which can be frustrating for me. I have hobbies too, but I also like to take advantage of the great weather, and go out on weekends in the late spring-fall!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my other new PUG dress that I got for 50% off during the PUG Memorial Day sale. This Gloria dress was part of a line of clothing items that were a collaboration with the fabulous Americana Ambassador, Charles Phoenix. I adore this tiki print, and can't wait to wear this dress at Tiki Oasis! I'm wearing my usual PUG size, and it is quite tight on my chest, but fits my waist well. I added the yellow belt; it came with my PUG lobster print dress that I blogged about in my last blog post. I was happy to see the yellow belt matches the yellow in this dress exactly.

Rock Lobster

Hello there! Bob and I had a good weekend. Saturday in the late afternoon we headed to my friend's surprise birthday party, which was about 40 minutes from where we live. She really was surprised, which was great! Her mom started planning it a year in advance, and there were around forty people there. We stayed there until 9:30 p.m., and then we headed to a nearby bar with my friend and a few of her other friends. The night was a lot of fun, and most importantly, my friend had a lot of fun, and got to see friends who she doesn't get to see often, because they live far away. Bob and I also to meet her boyfriend for the first time, which was great; he's very nice and very personable.
This weekend we'll be having a lot of family time (Father's Day is Sunday); we'll be going to my parents' house for dinner on Saturday night, along with Bob's father, and Sunday we'll be going out to dinner with his family.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Pinup Girl Clothing lobster print Harley dress. I snagged this dress and another one during the 50% off Memorial Day sale. Both of them fit me really well, and I love this adorable lobster print! Even though I wanted both of the dresses I got when they first came out, I'm glad I was patient and waited until I got them for a great deal. The yellow belt came with this dress. I have three PUG belts like this, and I really like them. I like the contrasting yellow straps on the dress, too.

Walking Rainbow

Hello there! The rain seems to have slowed down here; thankfully. We haven't gotten any in a few days, although it's been overcast off and on since. I'm just so glad it's June! It's two weeks until the official start of summer, and also my four year wedding anniversary. We'll be attending a rockabilly show that night; Reverend Horton Heat is playing, an less than half an hour away from us! We're really looking forward to it. We've never gotten to see a local rockabilly show before, with a big act like this. Lara Hope & The Arktones and also Big Sandy are the opening acts. We've seen Lara Hope play at the Nashville Boogie twice, but haven't seen Big Sandy before.
Saturday I'll be going to an antique show with my mom, about an hour from where I live.
Saturday night I'll be getting together with a friend. Sunday I think we'll just be hanging out at home.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a vintage rainbow dress I got a year ago and adore. I love the bright pastel shades! I just wish the skirt was fuller, but I don't think it could be, because of how thin the material is. No matter, the dress is gorgeous! The dress has a metal side zip (the bane of my existence!), and since the material is so silky, when Bob helps me zip it up I'm always afraid my skin will get pinched in it. In fact, when I was taking it off recently, I did zip my skin a bit! Not fun!

Red Waterlilies

Hello there! I had a very eventful weekend; Friday night I went out for drinks with three of my friends, Saturday Bob and I went out to dinner and for drinks to a local brew pub, where we sat outside in the warm, mostly sunny weather, and today my mom and I went antiquing in Adamstown. I got a vintage tropical print dress and a plastic 1950's snowman.
Tuesday evening I'll be going to Panera with a couple of friends, one who moved to Florida, and who I haven't seen in about a year and a half, and after that Bob and I will be visiting my grandmother with my parents.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva Red Waterlilies 1940's dress that I got back in September. This dress gets a lot of wear. I accessorized it with some 1940's items; the telephone cord purse is new to me and is from the 40's, the shoes are 40's reproductions, and the necklace is vintage, and probably from the 40's, too.
I don't have a ton of 1940's items, as I definitely gravitate towards 1950's aesthetics, but I do really treasure the 40's pieces I do have; the vintage and repro ones. There truly were some gorgeous prints in the 40's, but the cut of the dresses and skirts was a lot less full than the 50's, which is why I don't have more 40's pieces.
I had wanted a telephone cord purse for a long time, but held out until very recently. I think
they're really special, but I was surprised to see how tiny this one was! I hadn't read the dimensions before I ordered it, and I can't fit much at all in it. I wasn't going to use it as an every day purse anyway, so it's okay.
