Hawaiian Dream

Hello there! This weekend's been another pretty quiet one for me. Bob worked at our house all day yesterday, with his friend and dad. Acually, they worked on building our garage, which is going to be a longer process than Bob originally thought. Most of our siding is up on our house now, though.
Last night Bob and I went out for drinks in town. Next weekend will be more eventful, as we're going to a labor day bbq on Sunday, and Saturday I'm going to a flea market. I haven't been to a flea market since I was a child, and I'm really hoping this one is good.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Hawaiian Dream Claire dress. This dress is made out of stretch rayon, and is super comfortable. I have this style in another print, too. I don't find this style to be too flattering on me as is, so I belt it and wear a petticoat with it.
This is the first time I'm pairing this Enid Collins purse with it, and I love the combination.
I'm going to bring this dress to Europe with me, to wear to tiki bars in London. They picked such a stunning vintage print to do a reproduction of; this is definitely one of my all time favorite tropical/tiki prints I've ever seen.

French Quarter

Hello there! This week wasn't too eventful; Monday night we went to dinner for my grandmother's birthday, and yesterday I ran errands and cleaned, and also went over to our house, and swept for an hour and a half. I'm a little sore today from doing that. Our siding is going up on Tuesday, finally. It'll look more like a real house then.
Today we'll just be hanging at home, and tomorrow I'll be meeting up with two friends I used to work with, that I haven't seen in a year or so. One of them moved to Florida, and one to Pennsylvania, so I don't get to see them much anymore.
Bob has been plotting out our trip next month. He's hand drawn little maps for the cities we're going to, so that we can figure out which places are by each other, so we can hit them at the same time. It's nice to see him get excited about this trip, since he's definitely not one to show excitement!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress, that I got a couple of years or so ago. This print will always be special to me, as the French Quarter is my favorite place I've ever been! I'm hoping Bob and I can get back there soon for a long weekend; we haven't been together in three years; the last time I went was two years ago, with my mom.

Carnival

Hello there! This weekened hasn't been too eventful; yesterday I went antiquing to a couple of local spots. I got a small ceramic Christmas tree, a mid century glass churner (not sure what it would churn?) with pink accents, and two small glasses with roosters on them, one has pink rooster, and one has blue. Two of my favorite things to collect is colorful, mid century glasswear, and 50's Christmas decor. Ceramic trees are very popular now, both vintage and new tree, and can be quite pricey. I got my little one for $12.
After I got back from antiquing, my mom stopped by for a bit. Later on I cleaned and did laundry, and Bob and I finished "Stranger Things"! I didn't want it to end, ugh. I hate how you have to wait a year for the next season of these shows! I forget most of what happened by then, ha.
This week I'll be meeting a friend for dinner after work one night, and also meeting my family for dinner one night. I don't have much planned yet for this upcoming weekend.
I don't want the rest of July or August to fly by, but I am super excited for September! Not only are Bob and I going to the U.K., but I also just found out my friend who lives in Vegas is coming home to Pennsylvania the first weekend in September, so I'll get to meet up with her while she's home!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Carnival Annette dress, that I've had for two and a half years. I've worn it many, many times. The print is so beautiful, and the colors are stunning. This is one of my all time favorite vintage reprodution novelty prints.  Trashy Diva hasn't been releasing many novelty prints in awhile now; I really wish they'd go back to doing that more often. My new sage green Splendette bangles match the dress so well.
When I wore this dress to dinner on Friday night, the bartender asked if I was going to a party....nope, lady, this is just the way I dress!

X Marks The Spot

Hello there! This weekend is a thee day weekend for me; as I took off on Friday, and next weekend I have a lovely FOUR day weekend!! We have off for Memorial Day, and then we also have off Friday, because we had an unused snow day, so they gave it back to the students and staff, which is awesome. I've also been having a busier/been doing more socializing this weekend than usual. It started with Thursday night, when I met a couple of friends for dinner, and then Friday I went over to a friend's place, and yesterday Bob and I went to my parents' house for dinner, along with my grandparents and aunt and uncle.
It seems like it's always all or nothing for me, that I'll go a little while without getting together with friends or seeing much family, and then all in one weekend, I'll do a lot.
Yesterday was an absolutely stunning day. It was 75 and very sunny, but not humid. A rare perfect day in New Jersey. In the afternoon, Bob and I went out for drinks, and we sat at a bar that kept the door open, and it was really nice. I'm REALLY loving getting to where my dresses without ANY layers on! In the mornings I do have a jacket on, and I go back and forth between three different ones, depending on how cold it is. But, by lunchtime, I don't need any layers.
We booked our long weekend getaway in June for our fith anniversary; we're going to Wildwood and Cape May, and staying in Wildwood at the fabulously 50's Caribbean Motel. Cape May is only 15 minutes from Wildwood. While Cape May is more beautiful than Wildwood, with lovely Victorian homes, it does not have the 50's feel and 50's motels of Wildwood, so that's why we stay in Wildwood.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Pirate Treasure Trixie dress. I got it over a year ago, and I've worn it so much since then. It's a go to dress for me in warmer months.
I just adore the print on it, and have to pair it with my fishy necklace, naturally. This new Splendette shade of tropical punch (bangles) matches the coral in the dress spot on.

Wildflowers

Hello there! Spring is in full force here; the flowers are blooming, and we've been getting our share of warm, sunny days. It's so nice that the sun stays out until around 7:30 p.m. now.
I love that! It was a gorgeous sunny 75 degree day yesterday, so I couldn't stay home all day. I took a drive to go to a couple of antique shops I hadn't been to in a few months. I found a super cute tablecloth for a good price, and a vintage bright red dish with a clear lid that's similar to Pyrex, but a different brand.
Bob and I are staying at home today, trying to get everything in place before we leave on Tueday(!!!). It's so crazy and exiting that it's SO close now! Since I'm an organizer by nature, I have written out an itinerary for us; mostly just to make sure we get to go to every plce we want to go while we're out there. It's difficult to plan things when you're going on a trip to attend a festival, but also want go to other places outside of the festival events. We'll definitely be busy, that's for sure!
I've been wearing a lot of florals lately, and am able to wear my lighter fabric dresses now that it's warmed up. In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Wildflowers Trixie dress that I got a couple of years ago, and have gotten TONS of wear out of. It's so comfortable and colorful.

Red Roses

Hello there! I went so long this winter without getting sick, but I finally got a cold a few days ago. I just hope it doesn't get worse. I had a three day weekend, because I took a vacation day Friday, just to stay home and relax. Friday night Bob and I went out to dinner and for drinks. We checked out a restaurant we had never been to together before. I got a chicken salad wrap, and it was small, but I really liked it. Yesteday I met my friend at Panera for lunch, and today I'll just be staying in.
We're getting a snowstorm starting this late afternoon.; we're supposed to get five to eight inches. The past couple of days we got snow too; two or three inches on two different days.
It seems like winter is now trying to make up for the lack of snow we had the rest of it, but I find that super annoying, because it's FINALLY March, and I am beyond READY for spring!!! I want to see flowers and feel the beaming sun. We had the rainiest summer and fall in a long time, with plenty of dreary days, and then of course, a very gray, typical winter.
Next Saturday my mom and I are going antiquing in Mifflinburg and Lewisburg, PA, and I can't wait! We always have a great time out there. She'll of course be bringing her doggy, Heidi, with us. We are also picking up a Heywood Wakefield vintage coffee table that Bob and I are buying to go in our new house, but for now, we'll be putting it in our living room in our current home. I'm in love with it; it spins!!
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore out Friday night. This Trashy Diva Red Roses Honey is such a beautiful print. I'm definitely bringing this to Vegas with me NEXT MONTH!!
The purse in the pictures is an Enid Collins; I have quite a budding collectin of EC purses now. I got my first one back in June. I of course seek out the brightly colored ones. They're so cheery, and I love using them. I got this one and another EC colorful box purse together from eBay for such a great price! It makes me so happy to find one in good conidition, that's colorful and adorable, and for a great price!

Grand Canal

Hello there! Only twenty four more days until spring, but who's counting?? Winter always feel incredibly long to me, and spring never comes soon enough. Even the warmer days we've been having here, like today, it's usually dreary and rainy on those days. I'm ready for the weather to be as bright as my outfits!
Yesterday my mom and I went to a local antique show together. At this show, there's not as many holiday vendors as there are at the holiday shows we go to in November & December, so we usually don't see as much items we want to buy. My mom got antique Easter tin toy, and I got a couple of small holiday antiques: a vintage tree topper for a small table top tree, and two little plastic bunnies.
Last night Bob and I went to his dad's house for a family dinner; some of his extended family came over, too. His aunt and uncle who live in Georgia were in town, so they were there, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Retrospec'd Grand Canal Connie dress. I got this over a year ago, and have gotten a ton of wear out of it. I wear it to work a lot. The Connie dresses are super comfortable. This rich, bright shade of blue is just divine; you don't see it too often. I really love prints of cities, like this Venice print. I have a couple of New Orleans prints, too, but I think that's it so far.
Isn't this atomic brooch fabulous? It's from Luxulite, and came with two other smaller ones in the set, and I also got a neon coral set.

Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?

Hello there! Well, the HUGE snowstorm they were predicting this weekend didn't live up to the expectations, at all. I think we got maybe two inches. It's going to be in the 40's today, but ZERO degreees overnight, UGH...which means when I leave for work tomorrow it's going to be ZERO, which I am so not looking forward to. I never start my car and let it warm up, but I think I'll be doing that Monday and Tuesday during this artic blast we'll be getting.
There's nothing really new going on with me; this weekend's been a quiet one. My mom stopped over to visit yesterday, and I ran an errand, and just cleaned and did laundry, worked out, and relaxed. Next Saturday night Bob and I are going to my parent's house for dinner, with my grandparents, and aunt and uncle.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress, that I got three years ago on Poshmark. It's near and dear to my heart, because New Orleans is my FAVORITE city! I've been missing it a lot lately; Bob and I haven't been in over two years, although my mom and I went about fifteen months ago.
When Bob and I went last, it was only for a couple of days too; I'd love to go back with him soon for four days, that's the perfect amount of time there for us. I doubt we'll be getting back there too soon though, because we're going to Vegas in three months, and also planning on going to Ireland, England, and maybe Scotland around September! We haven't booked anything yet for Europe, but I need to start looking into things soon. So exciting! I just KNOW I'm going to absolutely love Ireland; I've only heard great things about it, and there's no better sound to my ears than the Irish accent, and I can't wait to be surrounded by that accent and the beautiful landscape.

Christmas Birdie

Hello there! Tomorrow my mom and I are going antiquing together in Adamstown, PA, along with her doggy, Heidi. Heidi sleeps on my feet the whole way out and back, and keeps them nice and warm! She's a Sheltie, so she has LOTS of beautiful, warm fur. She's obsessed with my mom, and never wants to leave her side. I'm very excited to go to Adamstown, as it's the BEST place to go antiquing, and I haven't been in six months! I used to hate going there as a child, when my parents dragged my sister and me, and now it's one of my favorite places. Isn't that funny the way things work??
Today Bob and I are just staying in, which is nice, after all of the family holiday get togethers as of late. Yesterday I was happily surprised to get out of work really early, at 11:30, and I then I met my mother, sister, and grandparents for lunch, and after that my sister stopped over my apartment. Monday we'll be going to Bob's favorite restaurant for an early dinner, and then out for a drink, and Tuesday we'll be going to his dad's for an early dinner.
My Christmas was good; I got a lot of great things! The biggest gift was a Heywood Wakefield corner cupboard that my parents gave us. I can't wait to use it in our house, to displays some of antiques on. I have almost no room to display things in our apartment now.
Since that was such a big gift, my parents just gave me a few small things, like a vintage Christmas rug, vintage Holt Howard Santa salt and pepper shakers, some ornaments, etc.
Bob really impressed me; he picked everything out on his own, and got me a set of vintage Shiny Brites that I REALLY love. They're pretty colorful, and most of them are indent ornaments, which are my favorites. He didn't even know that, he just lucked out!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Pinup Girl Clothing Birdie dress. I have one other Birdie, but it's 3/4 sleeve. I love the Birdie style. To me, it's pretty quintessential 50's.
I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve, when Bob and I went to church, and my aunt and uncle's house. The colors in it are obviously perfect for Christmas. I got it second hand a few months or so ago for a great price, and hadn't worn it out yet.

Bring Out The Dogs

Hello there! Friday night Bob and I went out for a couple of drinks, and yesterday I ran a couple of errands, and I met up with friends for lunch. Today we'll both just be staying in, as is a typical Sunday for us. Bob does a lot of cooking on Sundays, so that takes up a good chunk of his day. The only good thing about this weekend winding down, is that Christmas is soooo soon, along with a lot of days of work! I will be off next Saturday-Wednesday, and then again that Saturday-Tuesday. So, 9 days off in total; pretty exciting! Work has been pretty hectic lately, and has been so off and on since mid August, so I'm really looking to a lot of time off to decompress from it.
I wrapped most of the presents I've bought last night, and I'm officially all done Christmas shopping, which is great.
If my parents are feeling better tomorrow (they've both been sick with a stomach virus), Bob and I will be meeting them tomorrow at my great uncle's house for belated birthday cake for my dad and great uncle's birthdays. Friday I'm getting out of work early, because there's a work Christmas party.
In the pictures below I'm wering my new The Oblong Box Shop Christmas skirt. I first saw a picture of the skirt over a month or so ago, and the shop said it was coming in the beginning of December. I eagerly stalked their Instagram and signed up for an email alert, to know when it would become available. I quickly snatched it up when it launched. The print is adorable, with little dogs, Christmas tree, candy canes, etc. Another thing I love about the skirt is that the background color is pink. I love a Christmas print with a lot of pink in it.
The skirt is a couple of inches too big in the waist for me, but it does run pretty true to the size chart. I was between sizes, so I sized up. Better than to have it be loose, than too tight, though, right?? I think it looks cute worn with my red belt, anyway.

Jaclyn

Hello there! Well, it finally feels like fall here. It has really cooled down the past couple of days. We definitely had had an Indian summer, until Friday. Unfortunately, the heat doesn't work in our apartment yet, so I am not happy about that. Last night it got down to 38 degrees, so I slept with a very thick, heavy blanket on top of our quilt. Every year we have the same problem in our apartment, and it's very annoying. I really hope it gets fixed today.
Last night Bob and I went out for drinks (and food for him) to a local restaurant/bar. During the day I went to a Pyrex event called Pyrex Palooza. This event was about forty minutes from me, so that was great! The event was smaller than the last Pyrex event I went to two weeks ago, but there were still plenty of good vendors there, and a few of the same ones from two weeks go. I still had birthday money to spend, which was nice. I picked up three pieces of Pyrex (for only $26 total!), a couple of framed Pyrex prints, and a Pyrex printed dish towel. I also talked to a few of the vendors for awhile, three of them being vendors I have seen/talked to before. Pyrex isn't my biggest antiquing passion, but I do love it, and there's definitely a nice little community of Pyrex vendors/collectors.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my much worn Trashy Diva Big Band Bows Jaclyn dress. I have blogged about this dress at least two other times. I adore the neckline on the dress, and the fact that the top part is red, and the bottom has a great 1940's fruit print on it. The dress colors definitely aren't bright, but I still love the print and the style. I obviously wear mostly 1950's vintage and repro looks, but I also love my 1940's vintage and reproduction dresses, too. The skirts weren't as full in the 40's dresses, which is one downside for me. I've worn this dress to work, to family functions, to go out for drinks, etc. It's appropriate for many different settings. I also think it's quite flattering on me, and I like wearing it with fishnet stockings. I refuse to wear any other stockings than fishnets, as I don't find them comfortable.

Happy October

Hello there! This weekend's been a fairly quiet one; I haven't done much outside of the apartment, except that I went to an antique mall yesterday and ran an errand. I only spent $6 at the antique mall, which was great! I got a vintage bottle of McCall's maple syrup, still in the original box.
We've been inundated with rain and gloom here for weeks now, off and on, but mostly on, although today it's not supposed to rain. But, unfortunately, this Tuesday-Thursday rain is predicted, and we REALLY don't need anymore. I think our local rivers are very high now.
Next weekend will be busier; I'm going to Pyrex Palooza on Saturday (another antique show/event where the focus is on Pyrex, but they'll also have other kitchenware and housewares). I just found out about the event this past week (it's their first year), and was so excited to see how close to my town it is! It's only about 35 minutes away, which is much closer than many shows/events I go to. I'm really looking forward to going, and I still have birthday money to spend! On Friday night I'm meeting a friend for a drink, too.
Antique show season really starts up in the beginning of November. There's a toy and holiday show the first weekend of November, and then the weekend of Thanksgiving there's a holiday show, as well as the first weekend of December. I can't wait!
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Pinup Girl Clothing Halloween skirts (I have two), that I picked up during the huge sale this summer. I think I paid $35 or $40 for it. I loved this print as soon as it was released last fall, but resisted buying it, since I already had another PUG Halloween skirt. But, when I saw how marked down it was this summer, I couldn't pass it up! I really don't have much purple in my wardrobe, but it's not that I don't like the color. I think this print is absolutely adorable! My Luxulite Halloween necklace goes pretty perfectly with the skirt, too.

Celebration

Hello there! It's a gorgeous, sunny day out today, which is much needed. It's been doom and gloom here the whole past week, besides a few minutes of sun yesterday. This summer has been so disgustingly humid out that many buildings in the area have rampant mold now, including the school my mom works at. They had to have major mold cleanup, and delayed the opening of school by a week because of it.
Bob and I are just staying home today. Yesterday I took my new, used car to inspection, and wonder of all wonders, there as NO line at inspection! I have never been the first car there, or even one of the first. My car passed inspection, which I had been assuming it would. I ran an errand, and did cleaning and laundry, and took a walk, and in the early evening we headed to a restaurant half an hour away to go out to eat for my Nana's 77th birthday. My parents, aunt and uncle, and cousin and cousin's finance came, too. I had never been to the restaurant before; it was nice inside and the food was pretty good. They also brew their own beer there, and Bob had a couple of their beers.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore to go out to eat for my Nana's birthday. I just love this celebration border print! It's obviously a perfect New Year's dress, but I want to wear it more than that. I think it fits well for most celebrations, including birthdays! The dress does have more black in than I would like, but that print makes up for it.
