Tiki Time

Hello there! I'm so glad the three day weekend is finally here. I know it'll go wayyy too fast, but, I'm trying to savor every moment of it. Today I'm going to clean, do laundry, work out, go to Target, go to a BBQ at my parent's with Bob, and maybe go for a walk-in hair cut. I am in dire need of one, and I just need to go and do it. I'm excited to have a cheeseburger tonight! I haven't had one in a longgg time.
So many websites are having great Memorial Day sales! I'm especially eyeing a couple of items on the PUG site. I'm waiting to my place my order/s, until I see if I win an eBay auction that ends on Sunday. That'll determine how much more money I want to spend on other items, ha. There's actually another item on eBay I really want as well, but I have there's a lot more bids on it than the other one, and I think it'll go too high for me, unfortunately.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new dress. It's Collectif brand, and it's from Red Velvet Vintage. I spotted it on Red Velvet's Instagram, and they sent me a Paypal Invoice for it. I hadn't seen it on their website, so I had asked them if I could order it, and luckily I could. They only had one left in this size! I wasn't sure if it'd fit my chest, since it's a size small, and I had never ordered this brand before. But, the ladies at Red Velvet told me that since there's smocking in the back, there's extra room, and a lot of girls have sized down. I'm so glad I did get a small, becaise there's even some extra room in the chest and waist, and I almost never have extra room in the bust. I'm so glad I found it on a U.S. website, and didn't have to pay shpping from overseas. I just adore the print on the dress! It's so cute and kitsch. It'll be just perfect to wear in NYC next month, at tiki bars.

Fruity Friday

Hello there! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was pretty good. My sister emailed me, saying my mom and her arrived in Germany! I'm so excited for them. I know they will have an amazing time. They will be emailing me throughout the trip, updating me on what they are doing. And I can't wait to see the pictures! I was in Germany and Austria with my mom nine years ago.
I don't do any Black Friday shopping in stores, but I am definitely checking things out online. I have a few tabs open with different websites; I'm trying to make my mind up! It's really hard not to buy things, because most of the sites I'm looking at never have sitewide sales.
I will be taking pictures of my decorated apartment, especially my tree, and will post them in a blog post. Bob brought home the (fake) tree last night. We keep at his parents house during the rest of the year, since we don't have the room for it here.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Modcloth, Bea & Dot brand fruity dress. I don't care that it looks quite "summery", I will wear it in all seasons! The only thing is, the material is pretty thin, ha. So, I won't be wearing it on the coldest winter days, that's for sure. But, it really is one of my favourite dresses. As soon as it hit the Modcloth site, I knew I had to have it. It just screams my name. My Luxulite necklaces and brooches look so perfect with it, too!

Another New Orleans Post!

Hello there! I still have more pictures to post from New Orleans! All the pictures in this post were taken there. The yellow dress I'm wearing in some of the pictures I got from Trashy Diva in New Orleans. The picture of me posing with a statue, the statue is Ignatius J. Reilly, the main character and narrator of my favourite book: "A Confederacy of Dunces." The book takes place in New Orleans, and the author is from New Orleans. He died before any of his books were published; he committed suicide in his early thirties. "A Confederacy of Dunces" won the Pulitzer Prize posthumously! It is a truly hilarious book, and I would highly recommend it to any adult! From my recommendation two of my friends and my husband read it. They all thought it was quite funny.
Now, I haven't yet talked about the food in New Orleans. My favourite food there was the Po' Boys. They are basically sub sandwiches/hoagies. But, the bread they are on is soooo delicious! It's thick, big French bread. There are so many different types of Po Boys. Most restaurants we went to had at least a couple types to chose from, and some places had dozens of kinds. We tried Johnny's Po Boys towards the end of the trip. It's one of the most famous places for Po Boys. It's small inside, and not too attractive or updated, but that doesn't matter because the Po Boys are amazing!! It was definitely my favourite place for them! I wish we had tried it earlier in the trip. They are also on the cheap side! The address is: 511 Saint Louis Street, French Quarter. At Johhny's I had the cheese Po Boy and the tuna Po Boy.
I also had a turkey and cheese Po Boy at Market Cafe, twice. That place is also really good! It's pricier than Johhny's, but it's not expensive. The first time we went there Bob had an alligator sausage Po Boy! I tried a bite of it, even though I do NOT like sausage. It was okay, ha. I would never order it, myelf. He liked it though. The address is: 1000 Decatur St. It's close to the French Market. You can dine inside or out there.
The French Market is a must see! There are a lot of vendors there, selling all sorts of things. There is art, junky souvenirs, food booths, hand painted trinkets, jewelry, etc. I loved going there. I went two days. It's open seven days a week.
As I expected, most places there had a lot of seafood items. I am not big on seafood, to say the least. I love tuna sandwiches, but other than that I almost never eat seafood. Bob loves some seafood. He had a decent amount of it during the course of the trip. The only seafood I ordered was a crab cake appetizer, ha. If you don't like seafood, don't worry, there are tons of other options.
There's a dive place called Coop's Place, at: 1109 Decatur St. Bob had heard it was a great place to eat. I just got a grilled chicken sandwich there, but it was quite good. He loved what he ordered; he got jambalaya. The place isn't that nice inside, and I didn't like how we were seated. We were seated at one long table with other couples right next to us. I didn't feel comfortable really talking to Bob about much, because the other couples could easily hear everything we said.

Fruit & Cake!

Hello there! We have had such gorgeous, sunny weather this weekend, after a week of dark skies and rain. Today I went to my parent's house to celebrate Father's Day. I drove my grandmother there and back, too. While I was there, I took some earrings of my mom's so that I can decide which ones to wear to the wedding! I also took one of my parent's big suitcases, so that we can bring it on our honeymoon. We're going to just check that bag, and then each carry on a small suitcase. I need plenty of room for all my dresses, shoes, jewelry, and then of course all the shopping I will do once I'm in New Orleans!
In the pictures below you can see my newly highlighted hair! (I got it coloured yesterday.) This fruit dress is absolutely one of my favourite dresses!! It's so colourful and fun!! I of course love it paired with my fruit flats. I also had to throw in a picture of my parent's Sheltie, Heidi. She's too darn cute and sweet!

Beach Balls

Hello there! Now that I'm at my new job, time goes so much faster. At my last job, the days went by so achingly slow that I looked at the clock almost every minute. And I dreaded going to work every day. So, in general that made days, weeks go by slowly. Now that I'm at my new job, and the work days go by super fast, time in general is going faster! Which is good, because I'm so excited for my wedding, but more so for my honeymoon! Ha. 1 month, 11 days until the wedding, and 1 month, 13 days until the honeymoon!
And there's a huge difference with how I'm using my brain betweenmy new job, and my last. My brain didn't need to be engaged too much at my last job. At my new job, I really need to focus all the time; I'm learning so much new information, and I am always trying to keep it straight, and get done what needs to be accomplished.
Another good thing with my job: the other day one of the owners told me she loves my wardrobe, and asked where I find my clothes! I told her I get most of my dresses at Modcloth, and I told her about Etsy, where I find a lot of my accessories. She had never heard of either, and wrote them down! I'm soooo relieved that they like how I dress. I was worried they might not think it work "appropriate", since my style is sort of "quirky" and very colourful!
Last night I went over my friend's apartment, and my other friend came too. My friend whose apartment we were at just got a tiny kitten! She's crazy cute and sweet! I'm jealous ha. Today I'm cleaning the apartment, doing laundry, working out, and going to Kohl's to spend some gift card money I got for the bridal shower!! Hope I find some great things.
Tomorrow I'm going to my parent's for Mother's Day. One of my grandmothers will be there, too. Monday I'm trying on my wedding dress, (I had alterations done to it) and hopefully everything is perfect with it, and I can take it home for good!
In the pictures below I'm wearing a dress my mom made me last summer! I adore the fun, colourful print. The pattern reminds me of beach balls.

Rainbow Spiral Dress

Hello there! It's so nice to have a three day weekend this weekend, as well as next weekend. Yesterday I didn't do that much, but sometimes I don't mind that. I did do laundry, go to the library, read, and watch "12 Years A Slave" though. I'm glad I finally got to see the movie, and it was good of course. I had wanted to see it when it was in theaters, but we missed it. Now it's available On Demand, so that's how I watched it. It's so much cheaper to watch movies On Demand than to go to the movies!
Today my only plans are to clean the apartment, work out, and go to Walmart. And either today or tomorrow Bob and I are going to a local florist to pick out flowers for the altar at the church for the wedding. I think we're just going to stay in tonight, probably watch more of "The Sopranos". We're on Season 3 now.
Next weekend we're going away for a night for Bob's 30th birthday! I can't wait. We're going to a casino in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure how many of Bob's friends are meeting us there. Bob and his friends plan things very last minute, whereas I'm very much the opposite!
And let me rave a bit about this WEATHER!!!! Oh my gosh, right now I can feel the sun streaming through the blinds and it's very warm. It's only 9:20 am, too! It's supposed to be a high of seventy-one today, seventy-eight tomorrow, (!!!) and seventy-four on Monday. AND it's not supposed to rain again until Tuesday. Wow! These temperatures are perfection.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a very colourful Modcloth dress! It's from their Bea & Dot line. I currently have three dresses and one skirt from that line, as well as another dress on its way to me!

Tutti Frutti!

Hello there! Happy Saturday! :) It's officially spring now, and that makes me very happy. Today's going to be a high of 59 degrees, love that. I can't wait until it's consistently warm. We keep going back and forth with temperatures. My idea of the perfect temperature is right around 75 degrees.
My wedding is in three months!! Wow, it's crazy that's is so close now. I know time is really going to fly from here on out. And Bob and I (and some friends) are going to The Sands for his birthday in just under a month. I can't wait to get away, if only for a night ha. I had another nightmare about the wedding, on Thursday night. I hate having them! I haven't had too many yet, but I'm sure I'll be having more between now and then.
Today I'm doing my usual Saturday tasks of cleaning the apartment, lots of laundry, and working out. Then in the early afternoon I'm heading up to my parent's house to visit them and my animals! And later on at night I'm meeting a friend at a bar in the town I live in. So, it's going to be a busier Saturday than usual, but that's good. I don't mind relaxing all day Sundays. But, on Saturdays I like to at least go out for a little bit, and see friends and/or family.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a dress I received from Modcloth this week! And I am obsessed with it! After it hit the website a week before, it took me only one day to buy it ha. I just couldn't hold out. It's just so perfect for me, so colourful, and with a super cute print. It fits well, too. The dress has a silky feel to the material, and there's a lining in it. It's very comfortable and light. It came with the green belt. And it pairs oh, so perfectly with my fruit brooch! Although you can barely notice the brooch since it blends in with the dress, ha. Of course I had to top off the outfit with my fruit flats! Fruit from head to toe, ha.

Ice Cream Sunday/Sundae

Hello there! Another lazy Sunday has rolled around again. Except that I've been waking up pretty early on the weekends! Luckily, after I woke up the first time this morning, I was able to fall back asleep for another hour. I'm just going to work out, read, run a couple errands, and relax today. Bob's making penne vodka tonight, I can't wait! It's one of my favourite dishes that he makes, and we haven't had in awhile.
I've sold three items on eBay so far, which makes me happy! I currently have three other items up for sale, and hopefully at least one of them sells. The money I make from selling just goes back into my clothing/shoes/jewelry/purses purchases ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a dress my mom made me last summer! I'm very lucky she is an excellent seamstress, and is more than willing to make me dresses. She's made me four dresses since last July. It's so much cheaper to have her make them for me, than to buy them! I love this colour combo of coral and yellow in the dress. I paired it with my coral fruit flats, and yellow cropped cardigan, to bring out the colour combo even more. I had to pair my ice cream brooch with this outfit, of course! Lately I've been quite obsessed with brooches. I got my first two for this past Christmas, and ever since I've been wanting more, and getting more!
