Antiquing In Paradise

Hello there! My mom and I went to antiquing yesterday in three towns in Pennsylvania: Paradise, Bird In Hand, and Adamstown. It was a long day! I left to go meet her at 7:40 a.m., and got home at 7:10 p.m. The first town we went to was the farthest from the town we met up in; it was a little over two hours away from there. The first two towns we went to I had never been to before. Our first stop was at a cute shop called Black Kat Kollectibles, which sells antiques, vintage clothing, as well as a little bit of vintage reproduction clothing. I bought a Lindy Bop skirt there for $31! It was nice to get to try on vintage repro clothing before buying; that's very rare for me. The only usual times I get to do that are when I'm on vacation, or one the very rare occassion I get to go to NYC. We made a couple stops at antique malls nearby that shop, but I didn't get anything at those, and next we we went to The Christmas Center. The Christmas Center is huge Christmas museum, and I had never been there before, but my mom had a few times. The owner of the museum was even there that day; my mom's met him many times before, and I got to meet him yesterda. He has a booth at antique mall in Adamstown, also. The museum was spectacular. It's unbelievable how many items are inside! My favorite display was a whole room set up as a Woolworth's display. I took a lot of pictures in there. It was very 1950's. I was tempted to take some of the items in there back home with me, ha!
My mom knew it would be my favorite area of the museum.
In a different section of the museum I spotted a snowman Christmas tree stand. I posted a picture below. Oh, I am in love with it! I must find one somewhere. I looked for it at the rest of our stops yesterday, and looked on eBay and Etsy, but didn't find any for sale. It seems rare, unfortunately. My fingers are crossed that I'll find one soon! The graphics on it couldn't be any cuter!
I did get a few great finds in Adamstown. My dad had given me some money for Christmas, to spend on antiques, so I used up that money, and used a little bit of money that other relatives gave me for Christmas. So, I didn't have to spend any of my own money, which is always nice. I got a big ceramic tree that has big bulbs on it; I love those bulbs, and they seem unusual, as I don't remember seeing them on any other ceramic trees I've come across. I got two bottle brush trees. One is huge and spins and plays music, and it came in the original box! The other is such a gorgeous shade of blue, and I'm so happy I now have a blue one for my collection!  It was only $16, too! It is missing some beads, but I can deal with that. I may end up buying some matching antique beads to add to it, but I think it still looks great as is.
I got a few other small things: a strand of bubble lights for our Christmas tree, a small plastic Santa with a fawn around its shoulders, a little mustard powder shaker, and an adorable snowman mug.
I plan on keeping my bottle brush trees up year round, as well as my ceramic trees.
Right now they are all on our dining room table, which we don't really use. Once we have a house (which hopefully will be soon), I will have much more room to display them! I can't wait for that.

This one spins and plays music

I got the two on the left yesterday, but I think all three look amazing together! Pastel dreaminess!

The ceramic tree I found yesterday. Big bulbs!

The tree stnad I really want to find!

Sock Hop

Hello there! I worked on Tuesday until 1:30 p.m., and won't go back to work until Tuesday, the 3rd. Yesterday I mostly stayed home, but I did run out to a couple of shops. I went to an antique store I had never been to before, about 25 minutes away, and they had some cute Christmas items, and Pyrex, but nothing I had to have. I also checked out a Salvation Army in my town, to see if they had any good antiques, but there was nothing decent there.
I could've bought a piece of Pyrex or two in the antique store, but I was okay with not doing that, because tomorrow I'll be doing tons of antiquing with my mom. We're going to three towns that are next to each other in Pennsylvania. I haven't been to two of the towns before.
We're meeting early in the morning, and will be gone all day, probably until the early evening.
My dad gave me some money for Christmas to use to go anitquing, so that'll help, but I have a feeling I may have to use some of my own money too, ha. Well, I did get money from some other relatives for Christmas too, so I could use part or all of that, as well.
Even though Christmas items are my favorite antiques to collect, I also want to get more general non-seasonal antiques to display year round. Once I have a house though, I will display at least part of my antique Christmas collection year round, in a holiday themed room (I'll also display some of my Halloween and Easter items there).
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Pinup Girl Clothing Sabrina top, and a Bea & Dot skirt that was sold at Modcloth, but I found on eBay after it sold out on Modcloth's site. I've had the skirt for about a year and a half, and I really love the 50's record and dancing print.
It looks like a sock hop is happening. I would've loved to grow up in that time period.
If I could just take the clothing style, music, houses, cars, etc. and combine it with the advancements we have now in 2016,  that would be my utopia.
I have five Sabrina tops, and I really love them. They are perfect for work too, because of the high neck on them. They're comfortable, as well.

Merry, Merry

Hello there! Hope that everyone who celebrates Christmas had a wonderful one. I can't believe it's over! There's such a buildup to it, and then it just flies by. I had a nice Christmas Eve and Christmas. I did something different on Christmas Eve than I've done other Christmas Eves; I went to church with Bob's family in the late afternoon, and then went out to dinner with his parents, brother, and aunt & uncle. I had never seen his family before on Christmas Eve, I had alway spent it with mine. I did sleep over my parents' house Christmas Eve, like always, and Bob will came up to my parents' around 5:30 p.m on Christmas, and my grandparents and cousin also came over.
My parents gave me a couple of calendars, a make up bag, a book, ornaments (including four pewter ones my mom picked up when was in Austria this month), a paper mache pumpkin
(it's a Halloween decoration), Bakelite and fakelite bangles, a hair flower, money to spend when I got antiquing on Friday with my mom, and a couple of other small items. I hope I have good antiquing luck on Friday!
The best gift I got for Christmas was one of the gifts from Bob. He really surprised me!
He put two tickets to Viva Las Vegas in a box (the tickets are just for Viva itself, not for our whole Vegas trip)! I couldn't believe it. He had kept telling me he didn't really want to go to Viva this year, and I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to convince him to go. He's so sweet and unselfish! But, he did say what convinced him to do it is that he found out that a band he loves is playing there this year. He's never seen them before. I'm so excited that we're going. It's the 20th anniversary of Viva this year. I know we definitely won't be going next year, and that's fine with me.
It'll be really nice to get to relax today after a busy weekend seeing lots of family. We'll just be visiting a family member and running an errand today, but otherwise will be at home. Bob didn't think he'd be off today, but I'm happy he ended up getting it off. It's the only day he'll have off of work for the holidays.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore on part of Christmas Eve. I wore my red Trashy Diva Americana dress to church. I only have one Americana, but it's definitely one of my favorite styles TD has ever put out. I really wish they'd release more!

Fakelite and Bakelite I got from my parents. The three on the right are Bakelite.

My mom gave me this piece from her collection!

Ornaments my parents gave me for Christmas. The ones on the left are pewter, and from Austria!

Vixen

Hello there! Whew, this work week is almost done, and I'm so excited! I work until 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, and I don't think anyone will really be doing any work tomorrow. I can't believe Christmas is so close now! I can't wait for it. I've done everything I needed to do before it, like shopping, wrapping, and Christmas cards.
Tonight I'm not doing too much, just working out, and tomorrow night I'll be meeting a friend for a drink.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my first Micheline Pitt piece. Her brand is called Vixen.
I adore this really cute makeup and hair product print, and the colors in it. I love how much pink there is in it! I can't have enough pink. The skirt fits true to her size chart, but there's no extra room in it beyond the maximum waist measurement shown on the chart, so the skirt fits me snugly, but not uncomfortably. The skirt material is a good thickness, and is pretty poofy on its own (I don't own a petticoat). I want to try a couple Vixen tops out next. There's one with three quarter sleeves and a collar, and one with short puff sleeves that I'd like to try out.

Paint Kelly

Hello there! It's a pretty typical Sunday for Bob and me; we're staying home all day, and doing a lot of relaxing, although he does cook a lot on Sundays, too, to get ready for the week ahead. So, I'll be doing more relaxing than him, ha!
Christmas is only ONE week away now! On Christmas Even I'll be going to church and going out to dinner with Bob's family, and most likely sleeping over my parents' house that night. I'll be staying all day at my parents' on Christmas, and Bob will come over in the late afternoon, and then we'll go back home that night. I also have a board meeting to go to this Wednesday, but that's all I have going on this week so far.
I'm very much looking forward to having a lot of time off of work. The Friday after Christmas my mom and I are going out to Adamstown, PA, where there are tons of antique malls. I've been there with Bob a couple of times, but he doesn't like to go there very often. My parents love to go though, and used to drag me and my sister there when we were young. The times I went with Bob I wasn't on the hunt for antique Christmas items or Pyrex, so when I go that Friday, it'll be a whole other experience. I know they have a lot of Christmas items, as well as Pyrex.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter paint palette print Kelly dress that I got about a year ago. I love this print, and the color palette is a bit unexpected, but I love how much orange is in it! A print that features a lot of orange can be hard to find, but it's one of my favorite colors. My Lillian Madison Designs brooch is the perfect accessory for this dress, along with my palette earrings I picked up from Thirteen Vintage!
