Piece Of Cake

Hello there! It's too darn gorgeous out today, and sadly, after Saturday it's going to drop significantly in termperature. I just wish the warm weather would be here to stay already! It's in the upper 60's right now, and sunny. It's supposed to rain on Saturday unfortunately, or else I'd be taking advantage of the warm weather, and going to New Hope for a day trip. Instead, we'll be going to an indoor antique show nearby. I don't have much else going on the rest of this week/weekend.
I'm really hoping for warm, sunny weather the following Saturday, so we can go to New Hope. I miss going there; I don't think we've been since around August. Two Saturdays from this one I'll be going out to PA with my mom to go antique shopping, and I can't wait for that!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Lindy Bop cupcake shirt dress that I got a few months ago, and blogged about back then. It's really big on my waist unfortunately, and any smaller belt than this thick belt doesn't really define my waist enough, since there's so much extra fabric. Ugh, the struggle. Almost all of my dresses are large on my waist, and some are really large on my waist. Thank God for belts, I tell ya! Lindy Bops' sizing is quite wonky, and it does annoy me. But, they've been churning out some really prints, plus they're so cheaply priced!

Cocktails Gilda

Hello there! I don't have much going on today, just staying home with Bob. He's doing a lot of cooking and baking, like he always does on Sundays, and I'm doing a lot of reading and Netflix, plus some outfit pictures, and working out, also as per usual, ha. I love our quiet Sundays.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new Lindy Bop Gilda dress. I have one othe Gilda dress, and that one has a San Francisco print on it; I've done a post on it before. The Gilda is my favorite LB dress style. I find it has a better fit than other styles I've tried, and is more flattering. This print was first released in a different dress style, and while I love the print and colors in it, I passed on the other style. I'm glad I passed on it, and that they released the print in the Gilda. It was also on sale when I bought it, for only $25. I was disappointed when I received it though, because the zipper was broken. It had been sewn in incorrectly on on side of the dress, and made it impossible to zip all the way up. I contacted LB, and they refund half of what I spent, so I got $12.50 refunded. Bob fixed the zipper for me on the sewing machine, and now it zips!
But, the first time I tried it on with the functionining zipper, the the top two buttons popped right off. The dress came with one replacement button, which I sewed on. So, I'll be wearing it like I am in these pictures, with no top button on it. It's annoying that LB does not have the best quality. You get what you pay for, I suppose.
The almost neon/citrusy colors in the cocktail glasses in this print pair so well with my orange, yellow, & lime Bakelite.
Also in the pictures below is a picture of me wearing my new Trashy Diva ribbed rayon Fontaine coat that I scored for half off during their recent ribbed rayon sale, and a close up of the front of my hair last night. I lucked out with my hair! It's always random for me with my hair, ha, if I can get it to turn out decent or not when I'm styling it after it's been curled.
I LOVE my Fontaine coat. It's not very heavy, so it's not practical to wear when it's really cold out, but I think it's so gorgeous and flattering. Before getting the Fontaine, I had no vintage repro coats at all. I'm glad I now have one in my arsenal. It just buttons over my chest though, and when I first put it on, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get it buttoned there.

"If You're Going To San Francisco"

Hello there! Last night Bob and I went over his parents' house for dinner and cake for his mother's birthday. We ran some errands after that, and then went home. We watched part of "It's A Wonderful Life", but I got too tired, and couldn't finish it. I'll probably finish it today. We also watched "White Christmas" this weekend. "White Christmas" is my favorite holiday movie. If you haven't seen it, you must! Same goes for "It's A Wonderful Life".
I had a very successful anitquing today yesterday. Bob and I went to a Christmas antique show abotu twenty minutes away. We had never been to this show before, but my mom recommended it. We got there half an hour after it opened, and it was very crowded inside. So, that was annoying, but other than that, I was happy to see how much good stuff they had. I didn't see any blow molds though, but they had lots of bottle brush trees! I picked up three of them, and had my eye on others, too.
I try to do a full walk through at antique shows before buying anything, in case I find something I love more than what I first saw, or I find the same thing cheaper at the show. I do make exceptions, like if it's something I already know is a great deal, and may sell by the time I get back to the booth. My first purchase I did buy immediately, before walking around, and that was a $20 bottle brush tree. I knew it was a good price, plus the tree was different than most I've seen; it was silver with ball ornaments strung throughout the center of the tree. Later, I saw the same tree at another booth for $50! I ended up also getting one ceramic tree (only $20!), and a basket made of Christmas cards. I posted pictures below of my finds.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Lindy Bop dress. It has a San Fransisco border print on it. I went to SF when I was fourteen, but I'd love to go back sometime soon.
The colors in this print are so gorgeous; reminds me of sherbert. This is the best fitting LB dress I've ever tried on. Usually the waists are huge on me in LB dresses, but luckily this one is only a little big, and while it's tight on my chest, the buttons don't gape.

Lindy Bop Cupcakes

hello there! Well, today wasn't the best day; it was kind of crazy at work, and then I had a 2.5 hour long dentist appointment for a crown; my first crown. I would've much rather been at work! But, I do really like everyone at my dentist's office, so that is a plus. My dentist did tell me I will  probably experience some gum pain, and I don't really feel pain yet, but hopefully it's not too bad. The numbness from the novocaine is all gone though finally! I did have a good mail day today though; I received two Lindy Bop dresses, although I'm returning one (way too small on my chest!), and a Retrospec'd Connie dress. I loveee the cupcake Lindy Bop dress and the Retrospec'd Connie dress, and I posted pictures below of the cupcake dress. The dress is only $37! Lindy Bop isn't the best quality, and their sizing is all over the place, but $37 is definitely worth it for this adorable, comfortable dress. I only own one other LB dress (I recently sold one), and most of the time LB dresses don't really appeal to me, but this season they've been coming out with some really cute prints! Believe it or not, I didn't have a cupcake dress in my wardrobe (I did have one cupcake dress, but sold it a few months ago). This print also comes in a skirt version, but I'm more of a dress girl, if ya hadn't noticed.  There's also a really cute fox print LB shirt dress that's brand new on their site, and I'm thinking about getting that one. Believe it or not, I don't have many dresses with pink backgrounds, and pink is one of my favorite colors!
I'm excited for the weekend! Bob and I are going to Brew Works on Saturday for dinner.
We haven't been in a couple of months. It'll be nice to see what new Christmas items the Moravian Bookstore has, too. I'm also meeting my friend tomorrow night for a drink. It'll be nice to get out of the apartment a bit, since last weekend I just stayed home.

Drinks On Me

Hello there! This week is a scorcher here, very hot & humid. It's perfect beach weather, that's for sure. I wish I lived closer to the beach. Bob and I are planning on going there for a day in August. It's just annoying dealing with the traffic and all the people on the beach, so we don't go much. Tonight's going to be low key; staying home in the AC, and watching more "Shameless". Tomorrow night Bob and I are going to my parent's house to celebrate my mom's birthday, and Friday night I'll be meeting up with a friend.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Lindy Bop drinks dress. The print is so fun and adorable. This dress is of surprisingly thick material, and was my first Lindy Bop purchase, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it a few months ago. I have since gotten one more Lindy Bop dress, and that one is a lot more lightweight.

New Hope

Hello there! Well, in spite of how gloomy out it was yesterday, we decided to change it and go to New Hope. It ended up drizzling towards the end of our trip, but we only had to walk in it for a little bit. It was a little cool out too, but I resisted putting on my light jacket; didn't want to hide my fabulous outfit, ha! We had a good time, as we always do there. It's a really beautiful, artsy, funky, small business oriented town. The drive in is really scenic too, there are a few towns on the way over that are similar to New Hope (but don't have as much to do there). We go there about four times a year.
This time I actually bought clothing, which I've never done there before. There's a store called Thirteen Vintage on the main street. Last time I went in there, one of the shop owners recognized me from Instagram, and that was the first time that had ever happened to me in this area. The owners are super nice, and I got to talk to them for quite awhile about vintage repoduction. They give me a discount too, which is so sweet! I bought a L indy Bop dress and Sourpuss cropped cardi. It's so great to be able to try on these brands in person, instead of just ordering online. I'll get to do that again (at Enz's) in early June, when Bob and I go to NYC for the day. Enz's carries brands like Bernie Dexter, Trashy Diva and Retrospec'd, so I'm very excited to go again!
I wore my new to me Trashy Diva red waterlilies day dress, that I posted a blog about on Friday. I tried to style my hair "40's", since the dress is definitely 40's inspired. My hair didn't turn out exactly right, but that's okay.

New Hope

Hello there! Bob and I had a nice time in New Hope today. Even though it was 6o degrees, it was windy, so I kept my light jacket on the whole time. We had lunch and drinks at an outside bar/restaurant. They had outdoor heaters too, and one was blowing on our backs, so that helped with the windchill. When we first sat down the bar wasn't crowded, but in a little while it got very crowded. I'm sure it was because it was such a gorgeous day out, and New Hope is a town for walking around in, so people are going to want to take advantage of such a great day to walk around. We went in a few stores, but didn't buy anything. They have a lot of small shops, non-chain stores, like clothing shops, antique shops, a bookstore, etc. I'm a bookworm, but I very rarely buy books. I almost always take them out of the library, or borrow them from someone, or just re-read my own books.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my only Lindy Bop dress. I love the print on it, and even though it has a black background, which I obviously normally don't gravitate towards, there's plenty of colors in the drinks. I love my new Erstwilder cupcake brooch! It's definitetly one of my favorite Erstwilder brooches. I was so happy they finally made a new cupcake brooch.
I had seen the one with the leopard print they came out with awhile ago, but didn't like that one.
The last two pictures were taken today in New Hope. I had curled my hair this morning, but it didn't stay in too well.
