Hello there! Well, it's officially 2019! Happy New Year. January and February are my least liked months, so I'm really wishing I could just fast forward through them. We're still getting rain here, as we have been constantly since June. I don't know how we're not flooding everywhere. Also, because of all the doom and gloom, and shorter sunlight hours, almost all of my outfit pictures are going to have crappy lighting, unfortunately.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Tatyana dress that arrived yesterday. I snagged it for half off during their recent sale. I had liked it since I first saw it in come out in the early fall. I ordered a size up from my normal Tatyana size, because of the buttons on the front; I didn't want any gaping. Well, turns out I should've ordered TWO sizes up, because this is super tight on my chest; I wasn't even sure if I'd get it to button, and I can only wear a certain bra with it. So, that's a bit annoying, but other than that, I really like the dress. Luckily, in spite of how dang tight it is, there's no button gaping!
It has a nice full skirt, but I am wearing a petticoat here, to add even more volume. Since the dress was final sale, I can't exchange it for the next size up.
In the pictures below I'm also featuring my new to me vintage Enid Collins purse that arrived yesterday, too. I bought both items with Christmas money, and still have Christmas money left over (I've also used it for some other things, ike antiquing last Sunday, and buying another Enid Collins purse). I've developed quite the interest in/love of Enid Collins bags, if you hadn't noticed. I don't love all of her many designs, but I do love quite a few of them, mostly her colorful floral ones. I do also love some of her sea life ones, and have two with a fish print.
The one drawback to her bags is that because they are fiftyish years old, the straps on the bags can have a lot of wear, and sometimes need replacing. I was using one one day, and both straps broke, so I had to carry it in my arms, ha, until I got home. So, getting the straps replaced is an additional cost to the bag. I paid $25 for each purse I had straps replaced on (only two so far, but I may need more done in the near future). The purse I'm wearing here has a lot of wear on the straps, but I'm hoping it'll hold out for a little while.
Oh, and I was so excited to try on the dress when it came, that I didn't steam it first. As you can see, there's plenty of wrinkles on the skirt part of the dress, but I have since steamed it, ha.

Christmas Birdie
Hello there! Tomorrow my mom and I are going antiquing together in Adamstown, PA, along with her doggy, Heidi. Heidi sleeps on my feet the whole way out and back, and keeps them nice and warm! She's a Sheltie, so she has LOTS of beautiful, warm fur. She's obsessed with my mom, and never wants to leave her side. I'm very excited to go to Adamstown, as it's the BEST place to go antiquing, and I haven't been in six months! I used to hate going there as a child, when my parents dragged my sister and me, and now it's one of my favorite places. Isn't that funny the way things work??
Today Bob and I are just staying in, which is nice, after all of the family holiday get togethers as of late. Yesterday I was happily surprised to get out of work really early, at 11:30, and I then I met my mother, sister, and grandparents for lunch, and after that my sister stopped over my apartment. Monday we'll be going to Bob's favorite restaurant for an early dinner, and then out for a drink, and Tuesday we'll be going to his dad's for an early dinner.
My Christmas was good; I got a lot of great things! The biggest gift was a Heywood Wakefield corner cupboard that my parents gave us. I can't wait to use it in our house, to displays some of antiques on. I have almost no room to display things in our apartment now.
Since that was such a big gift, my parents just gave me a few small things, like a vintage Christmas rug, vintage Holt Howard Santa salt and pepper shakers, some ornaments, etc.
Bob really impressed me; he picked everything out on his own, and got me a set of vintage Shiny Brites that I REALLY love. They're pretty colorful, and most of them are indent ornaments, which are my favorites. He didn't even know that, he just lucked out!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Pinup Girl Clothing Birdie dress. I have one other Birdie, but it's 3/4 sleeve. I love the Birdie style. To me, it's pretty quintessential 50's.
I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve, when Bob and I went to church, and my aunt and uncle's house. The colors in it are obviously perfect for Christmas. I got it second hand a few months or so ago for a great price, and hadn't worn it out yet.

Bring Out The Dogs
Hello there! Friday night Bob and I went out for a couple of drinks, and yesterday I ran a couple of errands, and I met up with friends for lunch. Today we'll both just be staying in, as is a typical Sunday for us. Bob does a lot of cooking on Sundays, so that takes up a good chunk of his day. The only good thing about this weekend winding down, is that Christmas is soooo soon, along with a lot of days of work! I will be off next Saturday-Wednesday, and then again that Saturday-Tuesday. So, 9 days off in total; pretty exciting! Work has been pretty hectic lately, and has been so off and on since mid August, so I'm really looking to a lot of time off to decompress from it.
I wrapped most of the presents I've bought last night, and I'm officially all done Christmas shopping, which is great.
If my parents are feeling better tomorrow (they've both been sick with a stomach virus), Bob and I will be meeting them tomorrow at my great uncle's house for belated birthday cake for my dad and great uncle's birthdays. Friday I'm getting out of work early, because there's a work Christmas party.
In the pictures below I'm wering my new The Oblong Box Shop Christmas skirt. I first saw a picture of the skirt over a month or so ago, and the shop said it was coming in the beginning of December. I eagerly stalked their Instagram and signed up for an email alert, to know when it would become available. I quickly snatched it up when it launched. The print is adorable, with little dogs, Christmas tree, candy canes, etc. Another thing I love about the skirt is that the background color is pink. I love a Christmas print with a lot of pink in it.
The skirt is a couple of inches too big in the waist for me, but it does run pretty true to the size chart. I was between sizes, so I sized up. Better than to have it be loose, than too tight, though, right?? I think it looks cute worn with my red belt, anyway.

Turquoise Floral
Hello there! I took off of work today, so I have a lovely three day weekend. I had an appointment this morning, and then I ran some errands. Bob and I are going to my grandmother's tonight, for pizza with her and my dad.
I can't wait to have off during Christmstime! I just work the Thursday and Friday between Christmas and New Year's. Speaking of Christmas, who else is SO excited that it's only 2.5 weeks away?!?! So close now. I have just a few more Christmas gifts to buy, and haven't started wrapping yet. I've made some cookies, but they're all eaten up already ha, so I'll be making more this weekend. I want to give some away too, to some family and at work.
Over Christmas break, my mom and I will be going to Adamstown, PA to go antiquing, and I can't wait for that! I haven't been in over 5 months, and it's the BEST place to go antiquing!
My mom is in Germany right now; she goes there usually every other year to go to the Christmas markets. I can't wait to seee what she brings back for me! She is going to some towns she's never been to before this time. She also went to a town in France, near the German border.
Bob and I don't have a lot going on this weekend. I think I'm running to an antique mall today, but don't have much else I'll be doing this weekend, other than cleaning and laundry (so fun!).
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Trashy Diva turquoise floral drss. I had been looking for this print for years, but it's very rare to find one come up for sale, and in my size. I just think this floral print is abolustely gorgeous, plus I really love the bright blue background color. The material is light, so I won't be wearing it too much this time of year, but I'll be wearing the heck out of it when it warms up!

Kitschmas Countdown
Hello there! Well, the countdown to Christmas is REALLY on now, and my brain is going Kitschmas crazy. It's been so fun going to antique shows and shops with my mom lately. The antique show we went to today was primarily vintage Christmas. I snagged a bottle brush tree from a dealer that my mom and I both love, and my mom has bought a lot from her over the years. I picked out an ornament and an adorable vintage card with a snowman on it (that I'll display) for my mom to give me at Christmas.
The antique mall I went to after the show had a decent amount of Christmas out, much more than they do the rest of the year. I got a super cute Christmas tin and a very small blow mold snowman. I also stopped at a small antique shop I had never been to, but I didn't get anything there.
Bob and I went to my aunt and uncle's for Thanksgiving, and my parents and all of my grandparents came. The food was great; my mom brought her sweet potatoes and stuffing; my favorite sides. Bob worked on Friday, and my mom and I did our version of Black Friday: antique shopping. We went a couple of hours away to antique in Pennsylvania, and had a fun day. We got stuck in Black Friday shopper traffic on our way home, which I don't understand why there was no traffic in the morning...don't most people go out first thing?! But, what made getting stuck worse was we were running on empty for gas, and drove half an hour with the gas light on...but, we made it to a station, thankfully.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Pinup Girl Jenny ornament dress. It came up last year, but I missed out on it when it was available, and I recently snagged it secondhand, at a great price. I knew it'd probably be a tight fit on my chest, but luckily it does fit. I just adore the Shiny Brite ornmanet print on it! I also have a skirt from PUG with a Shiny Brite print on it, but the print is a lot bigger in scale. I'll be wearing the heck out of both of them this season! I wore the dress while antiquing with my mom today and yesterday, ha.

Wedding Weekend
Hello there! Yesterday was extremly stressful; the most stressful drive I've ever had. I left work as soon as it started snowing, and when I got on the first highway, it was fine, but when I got on the second highway after going a few miles, traffic slowed to 20 mph, which was good, because everyone was being extra cautious, and allowing a lot of space between cars. But, I was still pretty nervous. I didn't slide at all on the highway, but once I got off the highway, onto the next road, it was a nightmare. They clearly hadn't taken care of it at all. I started sliding right away, and was also afraid I'd get stuck in the snow, especially going up hills.
I pulled over three times into businesses on the side of the road, because it was so scary, that I didn't want to keep going. I wanted Bob to come pick me up (he has a plow truck). Eventually, after stopping at the third location, which was a strip mall, and staying in a pizza place there for hours, Bob came and got me. I saw accidents on the highway, and while I didn't see any on that other road I was on, I knew from talking to Bob that there were accidents up ahead, and traffic was stopped for awhile.
I was so relieved to make it home alive and safe. I really hope that was the worst conditions I'll have to drive in, and that the roads will be better taken care of, but I don't know. I don't know if the road departments weren't taking the forecast seriously, because we never get snow in November, or what... Even though it took me almost six hours from the time I left work to actually get home, I was always warm, and wasn't stuck in snow, and I really feel for all of the people who were stranded on the roads for hours on end. The storm went all the way to Mississippi, and eight people died in car accidents in multiple states.
I'm off of work today, due to the weather, and in other, better news, last weekend was a lot of fun! Bob and I drove up to Providence, Rhode Island for our friends' wedding. I met Sara through Instagram/blogging, and social media can be so weird and wonderful, right? I'm so thankful for the Instagram connecting me with so many lovely, stylish ladies, who understand my aesthetic, some of who I have actual friendships with now. The wedding was wonderful, and Sara looked so beautiful, and I loved her dress and Shoe Bakery ice cream shoes!!
On Friday night (the wedding was Saturday afternoon), Bob and I went out to dinner at an Irish pub, which was a geat place, and then we went to Ogie's Trailer Park for a couple of drinks. I really liked that place! They had tiki drinks, which is the main reason I wanted to go, naturally. But, the decor was fabulous, too! Kitschy and 50's ish. The bathroom walls were the best! I wish I had taken a picture, instead of just an Instagram story. They were pink and white tiles with atomic starbursts on some of the tiles. After the rehersal dinner, Sara and Cody (along with some family and friends), headed over to the hotel bar where we were waiting for them. They also had a lovely buffet style brunch on Sunday morning on the top floor of the hotel, so we went there before hitting the road.
I also met two other bloggers for the first time at Sara's wedding; they sat at our table. They were both so nice, and I'm so glad I got to meet Kristina of http://eyreeffect.com/, and Jen of https://dressingwithclass.wordpress.com/. Kristina has the CUTEST four month old daughter, too!! She brought her to the wedding (along with her husband), so I got to gush over her a bit!

Poppy Fields
Hello there! Today is a quiet day at home for me and Bob, but yesterday we went to Pennsylvania. We went to an antique show in the morning, and then to the nearby mall to go to a couple of stores, and out to lunch at a German restaurant. I picked up a Christms present while I was there. The mall has a nice, big Barnes & Noble, which I like to go in. I didn't buy anything at the antique show, but that's okay. There's some antique shows coming up soon; the next one is in three weeks.
My ten year (!!!) dating anniversary with Bob was this past Friday, so we went out to eat and for drinks that night, in town, at our favorite local restaurant. Crazy to think it's been ten years already, but I've also been with him so long and know him so well, that it's also hard to imagine ever having not been with him.
This coming Friday, Bob and I are leaving to drive to Rhode Island to go to a friend's wedding, fellow blogger Sara, of inanutshellblog.com. I can't believe it's just about here already! I'm really looking forward to going away for the weekend.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Bernie Dexter dress that showed up this past Friday. I LOVE this beautiful print. Bernie had released this print years ago, in a different style dress, but the way the print placement worked on that dress, the tops of the trees got cut off on the bodice, plus it was a dress style that wasn't my favorite on me, so even though I always thought the print was beautiful, I never bought that dress. Lucky for me, she finally released the print in a shirt dress!
