Wedding Weekend

Hello there! Yesterday was extremly stressful; the most stressful drive I've ever had. I left work as soon as it started snowing, and when I got on the first highway, it was fine, but when I got on the second highway after going a few miles, traffic slowed to 20 mph, which was good, because everyone was being extra cautious, and allowing a lot of space between cars. But, I was still pretty nervous. I didn't slide at all on the highway, but once I got off the highway, onto the next road, it was a nightmare. They clearly hadn't taken care of it at all. I started sliding right away, and was also afraid I'd get stuck in the snow, especially going up hills.
I pulled over three times into businesses on the side of the road, because it was so scary, that I didn't want to keep going. I wanted Bob to come pick me up (he has a plow truck). Eventually, after stopping at the third location, which was a strip mall, and staying in a pizza place there for hours, Bob came and got me. I saw accidents on the highway, and while I didn't see any on that other road I was on, I knew from talking to Bob that there were accidents up ahead, and traffic was stopped for awhile.
I was so relieved to make it home alive and safe. I really hope that was the worst conditions I'll have to drive in, and that the roads will be better taken care of, but I don't know. I don't know if the road departments weren't taking the forecast seriously, because we never get snow in November, or what... Even though it took me almost six hours from the time I left work to actually get home, I was always warm, and wasn't stuck in snow, and I really feel for all of the people who were stranded on the roads for hours on end. The storm went all the way to Mississippi, and eight people died in car accidents in multiple states.
I'm off of work today, due to the weather, and in other, better news, last weekend was a lot of fun! Bob and I drove up to Providence, Rhode Island for our friends' wedding. I met Sara through Instagram/blogging, and social media can be so weird and wonderful, right? I'm so thankful for the Instagram connecting me with so many lovely, stylish ladies, who understand my aesthetic, some of who I have actual friendships with now. The wedding was wonderful, and Sara looked so beautiful, and I loved her dress and Shoe Bakery ice cream shoes!!
On Friday night (the wedding was Saturday afternoon), Bob and I went out to dinner at an Irish pub, which was a geat place, and then we went to Ogie's Trailer Park for a couple of drinks. I really liked that place! They had tiki drinks, which is the main reason I wanted to go, naturally. But, the decor was fabulous, too! Kitschy and 50's ish. The bathroom walls were the best! I wish I had taken a picture, instead of just an Instagram story. They were pink and white tiles with atomic starbursts on some of the tiles. After the rehersal dinner, Sara and Cody (along with some family and friends), headed over to the hotel bar where we were waiting for them. They also had a lovely buffet style brunch on Sunday morning on the top floor of the hotel, so we went there before hitting the road.
I also met two other bloggers for the first time at Sara's wedding; they sat at our table. They were both so nice, and I'm so glad I got to meet Kristina of http://eyreeffect.com/, and Jen of https://dressingwithclass.wordpress.com/. Kristina has the CUTEST four month old daughter, too!! She brought her to the wedding (along with her husband), so I got to gush over her a bit!

Oranges Dress!

Hello there! Well, this is officially my first blog post as a married woman! We had a truly amazing wedding and honeymoon. Either one of them really couldn't have been any better. Eveything went so smoothly with the wedding and reception. We had the most PERFECT weather, too!! It was sunny and warm, but not hot. We lucked out, because earlier in the week it had been very hot and humid. It cooled down just in time. It was just so lovely to spend the day and night with so many people who love us and wanted to share in our special day. It is crazy how after so much planning and stess, the day is over so fast. It's also a relief to not have to plan anymore!
Today Bob and I were going to go to my cousin's house for a family picnic, but it got postponed until tomorrow because of the weather. It's supposed to be nicer out this weekend. So, today I'm going to take it easy. I'm going to work out, probably run to Target, read, and not much else. It's very nice to unwind after our time away. We were pretty busy in New Orleans! There was just so much to do and see. We walked A LOT. That's what we do on all our trips. We took a bus and street car a couple times, but other than that it was all walking.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Pin Up Girl Clothing Jenny oranges dress. It is my dream dress! I had been waiting so long for it to be available. They first showed it on their Instagram back arond February. It is truly gorgeous, and even more beautiful in person. The shade of orange in the dress is my favourite shade of orange. It's nice and bright and vivid, without being neon. I wasn't sure if I had shoes that would match the dress, other than black flats or flip flops. But, I was happy to discover there is yellow in the dress, too! So, the dress perfectly matches my yellow B.A.I.T. Footwear wedges.
This dress is actually easier to zip than my other Jenny dresses. There is a little bit more room in the waist. I love that it comes with a matching orange belt, and I also love that the straps and bottom of the dress are orange. My new Luxulite oranges necklace arrived too, and just looks so great paired with this dress! I couldn't resist also pairing my Luxulite oranges brooch with this outfit.
I will share pictures and write more about the wedding and honeymoon soon!

Junk Food

Hello there! I'm greatly enjoying my Monday off of work for MLK day. I slept in a little, until 8:00. Bob's working today, he doesn't get off as many holidays as I do, since he works for his father. (And doens't work in an office.) I don't mind spending time alone though.
Yesterday we bought our wedding rings at the mall. I have to go back to pick mine up in a couple weeks, since I needed a smaller size than the display one. We got to leave with Bob's ring though. I was glad we spent less money on them than I had budgeted for them. And instead of buying a bra with a low back, (which is VERY hard to find!) I was able to buy something from Victoria's Secret which you attach to your bra, and it lowers the back of your bra. Hopefully it lowers it enough to work with my weddig dress! My dress is at my parent's house, so I can't try it out just yet. But, I'm crossing my fingers!
We also went to the movies yesterday, and saw "Nebraska." I still have a gift card to the movies, so I got to go for free, and I still have money on the gift card to pay for another ticket. The movie was good, it was pretty funny. It just moved kind of slowly.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my absolute favourite dresses. I don't wear it outside in the winter, as it's one of my shorter dresses. But, it was nice to put it on again, indoors. I got it in September from Modcloth, and have worn it on the blog a few times. I hesitated for months before ordering the dress, but I'm so very glad I took the plunge! I was hesitant because I thought the print might be just too bold, but I love how it looks, and people can stare if they choose, but that's their issue ha.
I'm wearing my new B.A.I.T. red heels again. (I wore them in the last post, too.) I adore them, and they're definitely going to match with a lot of my dresses and skirts. I love getting good wear out purchases. They're a perfect shade of cherry red.

Perona Farms

Hello there! I know I just posted pictures of me wearing my new ice cream print dress that my mom made me, but, here are some more! Ha. I just had to pair the dress with my new Keds sprinkles print sneakers! I'm obsessed with these sneaks. They are so perfect for me! They were on sale for $35, with free shipping. They have free shipping on all orders! I've actually never had a pair of Keds. (That I can remember.)
When I found them online they only had one size left! A size 10. I'm a size 9...so I was praying they wouldn't be toooo big on me. They are big, but I bought these inserts to put in the back of the shoes, and it does help a bit. They are still a little big, but it's fine.  :)
The first few pictures are from my trip to visit a possible reception site for our wedding! I went with my mom and Bob yesterday. We visited a place called Perona Farms. It's really beautiful there! T
hey have two options for receptions. One is inside an old barn, the other is the typical ballroom option. The barn reception is more expensive. They recently renovated the inside of the barn. It's so nice/rustic in there! There are plenty of areas on their property to take beautiful pictures. They have an apple orchard and a lake with fountains in it, as well as a bridge over the lake.
I had been to Perona Farms once for a wedding and reception, a few years ago. I didn't really remember what it looked like or how was the food was. Bob says he remembers that their food is really good. (He used to go there when he was a lot younger with his family for brunch.)
Today, I'm going to another reception site with Bob and my mom. It's actually two minutes from our apartment. Later on I'm heading up to my parent's house to celebrate my grandmother's 86th bday! Having dinner there, and my mom's amazing triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate icing. It is the BEST!
