Hello there! Only twenty four more days until spring, but who's counting?? Winter always feel incredibly long to me, and spring never comes soon enough. Even the warmer days we've been having here, like today, it's usually dreary and rainy on those days. I'm ready for the weather to be as bright as my outfits!
Yesterday my mom and I went to a local antique show together. At this show, there's not as many holiday vendors as there are at the holiday shows we go to in November & December, so we usually don't see as much items we want to buy. My mom got antique Easter tin toy, and I got a couple of small holiday antiques: a vintage tree topper for a small table top tree, and two little plastic bunnies.
Last night Bob and I went to his dad's house for a family dinner; some of his extended family came over, too. His aunt and uncle who live in Georgia were in town, so they were there, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Retrospec'd Grand Canal Connie dress. I got this over a year ago, and have gotten a ton of wear out of it. I wear it to work a lot. The Connie dresses are super comfortable. This rich, bright shade of blue is just divine; you don't see it too often. I really love prints of cities, like this Venice print. I have a couple of New Orleans prints, too, but I think that's it so far.
Isn't this atomic brooch fabulous? It's from Luxulite, and came with two other smaller ones in the set, and I also got a neon coral set.

Striped Tatyana Dress
Hello there! Well, it's officially 2019! Happy New Year. January and February are my least liked months, so I'm really wishing I could just fast forward through them. We're still getting rain here, as we have been constantly since June. I don't know how we're not flooding everywhere. Also, because of all the doom and gloom, and shorter sunlight hours, almost all of my outfit pictures are going to have crappy lighting, unfortunately.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Tatyana dress that arrived yesterday. I snagged it for half off during their recent sale. I had liked it since I first saw it in come out in the early fall. I ordered a size up from my normal Tatyana size, because of the buttons on the front; I didn't want any gaping. Well, turns out I should've ordered TWO sizes up, because this is super tight on my chest; I wasn't even sure if I'd get it to button, and I can only wear a certain bra with it. So, that's a bit annoying, but other than that, I really like the dress. Luckily, in spite of how dang tight it is, there's no button gaping!
It has a nice full skirt, but I am wearing a petticoat here, to add even more volume. Since the dress was final sale, I can't exchange it for the next size up.
In the pictures below I'm also featuring my new to me vintage Enid Collins purse that arrived yesterday, too. I bought both items with Christmas money, and still have Christmas money left over (I've also used it for some other things, ike antiquing last Sunday, and buying another Enid Collins purse). I've developed quite the interest in/love of Enid Collins bags, if you hadn't noticed. I don't love all of her many designs, but I do love quite a few of them, mostly her colorful floral ones. I do also love some of her sea life ones, and have two with a fish print.
The one drawback to her bags is that because they are fiftyish years old, the straps on the bags can have a lot of wear, and sometimes need replacing. I was using one one day, and both straps broke, so I had to carry it in my arms, ha, until I got home. So, getting the straps replaced is an additional cost to the bag. I paid $25 for each purse I had straps replaced on (only two so far, but I may need more done in the near future). The purse I'm wearing here has a lot of wear on the straps, but I'm hoping it'll hold out for a little while.
Oh, and I was so excited to try on the dress when it came, that I didn't steam it first. As you can see, there's plenty of wrinkles on the skirt part of the dress, but I have since steamed it, ha.

Nesting
Hello there! This long weekend has been pretty low key, and it's still going fast! I haven't left the apartment since Friday night, except to run to the post office Saturday morning. Yesterday I did a lot of reading and watched the Olympics, a show about Patti Hearst on CNN, an episode of "Intervention", "Golden Girls", and an old movie that was on TV.
My pet peeve about the winter Olympics is that they play ice skating so late at night, that I've been falling asleep during it. I'm sure they do that because it's the most popular sports in the Olympics, and they want to get viewership for the earlier sports, with people watching them, because they're waiting for skating to come on. I'm on to you, NBC!!!
I'm reading a biography on Stevie Nicks right now, called "Gold Dust Woman". Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks aren't really my kind of music, but I do love reading bios and memoirs, so I picked it up from the library. It's been a decent read so far; I'm two thirds of the way done.
This Wednesday night there's a board meeting at work that I'll be going to, and Saturday Bob and I are going to an antique show and out to lunch, which I'm really looking forward to.
I haven't done any antiquing lately.
So, tomorrw and Wednesday are going to be 65 & 70 degrees, and I'm crazy excited for that!
I can't wait to wear a light jacket, and feel the warm sunshine. It'll just be a tease though, since it won't consistently stay like that until April.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Tatyana nesting dolls dress that I've had for about two and a half years. I think the print is adorable, and the dress is comfortable, with stretch in it. I probably could've fit in a size down, as well. I also have this dress style in a print with drinks on it, my only two Tatyana dresses. P.S.- this nesting dolls dress is coming back in the spring to Tatyana's website!

Glass Half Full
Hello there! Well, my work week is done with, and it's so lovely that the weekend has rolled around again. I think my weeks go faster working at this job, than they did at any other jobs; maybe because I actually like my job, ha! My boss was off Tuesday-today, and luckily nothing happened where I needed to reach out to him to get a response. I didn't want to have to bug him while he was on vacation.
I don't have much planned for this weekend, other than meeting up with a friend Saturday night. Otherwise, I'll just be doing my normal weekend tasks, like cleaning, laundry, and working out. Next weekend will be busier: on Saturday I'm going shopping in PA with my mom for holiday decorations, and Sunday Bob and I will be going to his cousin's for a bbq.
Oh, we booked my birthday trip! We found a GREAT deal for a short getaway to New Orleans, my favorite place I've ever been to! I didn't even really think it'd be an option to go there for my birthday, but I'm very excited. We'll be leaving on a Wednesday night, and leaving NOLA on Saturday morning, so it's a quick trip. Luckily, since we've been there twice before, we know exactly where to go during the limited time we have, to make the most of it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Bettie Page (now Tatyana) dress that I found for sale about a month ago on a Facebookswap & sell group. I originally bought this dress from Modcloth about three years ago, and ended up returning it; I just wasn't that into it at the time. Afterwards, I would occassionally see it crop up for sale on eBay or Facebook, and ended up seeing one a size bigger than I wanted, but figured it'd better than nothing. I think the print is really cute and retro-y looking. I have this same dress style in a nesting dolls print, too. The style runs big in general, and I wish I had a size smaller in both.

Nesting Dolls
Hello there! I think we're going to have a pretty quiet (that's typical for us) Sunday. Bob's actually still sleeping now, ha. I'm as usual dreading Monday, but, the bright spot is that the next two weeks are 3.5 day work weeks for me! My sister is flying home tomorrow. It's so crazy how fast time goes...she moved out to Nashville four months ago, and it doesn't seem she was gone that long. She has three more semesters of grad school left.
I'm all ready for Christmas now. I bought and wrapped all the presents, and they're under our tree. Wednesday night we're going out to eat with my grandparents, aunt, uncle & cousin, and parents and sister. We go out to eat every December, for my grandparent's anniversary. Christmas Eve I'm still deciding whether to go out to eat with Bob's family, or to go to my aunt & uncle's.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Tatyana nesting dolls print dress. I'm glad that my kelly green BAIT Idas match so well with the dress. This is the only Tatyana brand piece of clothing that I own so far. I thought about ordering it for a long time. I should've gotten a size smaller though. (I ordered my usual size, that I am in most brands.) The lighting was terrible in our kitchen yesterday when we took these outfit pictures. I am definitely taking pictures earlier today, and the sun is really shining, so the should turn out much better!

Learning To Sew
Hello there! Last night Bob and I stayed in, and watched "Wedding Crashers". He also helped me start to sew! Well, I just sewed on a piece of paper ha, but it's a little bit of progress. He had bought me a book on how to sew a few months ago, and was encouraging me to read it. He knows how much I'll love to sew once I learn it, because there are so many cute fabrics out there, that I'd love to use! I really wish I would've just had my mom shown me years ago. Oh well, better late than never. But, for me when I read the book it goes over my head. I have to actually be at the machine doing things, than reading it in a book and then applying it. If I have any issues while I'm at the machine, I can always reference the book then. I'm very excited though. I hope it won't be too hard in the beginning. I've already picked out a pattern for skirts and two fabrics. The pattern looks pretty simple, and hopefully it is. Bob is very good at learning new tasks, so I'm happy he wants to help me. I am not as adept with new tasks ha, that is for sure.
Today's going to be pretty quiet. I'm going to read more of "The Martian" work out, and sew a little more (on fabric this time!). Other than that, I mostly will just will be relaxing.
As much as I don't want winter to come at all, I'm excited to shop for new decorations! Target always has some cute things for Christmas. They already have a tiny bit of decorations in the store by me, but nothing I have to have. Kohl's has more out, but I didn't see anything I really liked.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Tatyana nesting dolls dress.

Nesting Dolls Tatyana Dress
Hello there! Today Bob and I are just going to relax at home; I'm going to work out, read, and watch TV. Oh yea, I'm also going to begin packing, since we're going away this week to New Orleans! I kind of can't believe it's so soon, but that may be because we booked it only a month ahead of time, so I didn't have too much time to countdown to it! Tomorrow night we are going to my grandmother's, and meeting my dad there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Tatyana nesting dolls dress! I received it yesterday; I had ordered it from eBay. This is my first Tatyana brand item that I've bought. I had been eyeing this dress for about five months, and finally decided to take the plunge. I really like the shape of the dress; it's similar to Pin Up Girl Clothing Jenny dresses, except there's no boning in the top part. I love how full the skirt is. The material isn't as thick as Jenny dresses, but I still like the material. The print is vibrant and adorable! Part of the reason I debated ordering it for so long, is because in some pictures I saw of it, the print looked too dark for me, but in others it didn't. I was happy to find that the print is bright. I could've worn a size down in the waist, and probably could've squeezed my chest into a size smaller, too. I didn't want to have to return it though, and it's nice to have some extra room all over, plus with the belt, no one can tell it's big. This is another great novelty print to have in my wardrobe!
Dress: eBay (Tatyana)
Necklace: Francesca's Collections
Brooch: Deer Arrow
Earrings: Etsy (MouseMarket)
Clutch: eBay (Betsey Johnson)
Heels: B.A.I.T. Footwear
