Hello there! I'm not doing much tonight; I worked out, and will just be reading, and relaxing/watching Netflix. Oh, I can't wait for the weekend. I don't have much planned as of now, but that's fine by me. Next Saturday is my grandmother's 90th birthday party, and next Friday I'll be looking at a couple of potential wedding venues with my mom and sister for my sister's wedding.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage 40's skirt that I picked up last Saturday at Retro Fest. It is a couple of inches or so too big on my waist, but I couldn't find a belt that looked good with it. It's also longer than I like and typically wear, and not as full skirted, but the fruit print is so darn dreamy. I love that there's a lot of red in it too, as it pairs well with my red tops. I wore the skirt to work earlier this week, but I hardly ever wear my vintage items to work, as I don't want to wear them too much, since they're priceless to me, and also because they are so old, it'd be easier for them to fall apart (the four vintage clothing items I have are all made out fabric that's pretty thin). The shoes I'm wearing in the pictures match the skirt so well, and I love that they're also 40's inspired, so this is quite the 40's outfit.

~Bye bye for now!
Hello there! Tomorrow is Friday, finally! This week hasn't gone by too fast for me. Today was a nice short day for work though; my boss and co-worker picked me up in the town I live in, and we headed out to an auditing seminar about half an hour from where I live. We got there right before 9:00 a.m., and left right after noon! So, I got home around 12:45 p.m. My boss is nice, and didn't make my co-worker or me go back to work, although she did, because she didn't want to miss a meeting.
Since I've been home I worked out, ran an errand, and have been watching "The Keepers" on Netflix. It's a documentary about the murder of a Baltimore nun in 1969, and also about the connection between that and the rampant sexual abuse by a priest (as well as other men the priest brought in to the school) who worked at the school the nun had been working at. It's an engrossing show, but it's VERY maddening, especially because it's a true story.
It enrages me to hear all about the cover up by the Catholic Church, as well as the Baltimore Police. I believe that people who cover up for pedophiles are also guilty of sexual abuse, because not only did they not get justice for the person/people who came forward and made complaints, but by not convicting the person/people repsonsible, they also ALLOWED future abuse to happen. UGH!! It's completly horrifying. This documentary reminds me of the movie "Spotlight", which was great, but also a true story about the Catholic Church, and very maddening.
Anyway! On to cherrier subjects. In the pictures below I'm wearing my very first sarong!
I love sarongs, but had never tried one before. I wasn't sure if it'd work on my body type, since I already knew sarongs look especially amazing on pear shaped ladies (which I am not), but wasn't convinced they'd be flattering on me. I was able to score my current most sought after Trashy Diva print, in a sarong style. I had been hoping to find it another style, but I took what I could get! This print is called Pearl Harbor, and is one of their most sought after and rare prints. I obtained it in a trade, and I popped it on as soon as it arrived last Friday.
I LOVED it on! I find it to be quite flattering. I was also happy to see that my new Re-Mix heels match the dress really well. I wore the dress ALL last weekend, ha. I didn't want to take it off! Did I mention it's comfy, too?!

Hello there! Today's been a pretty quiet week so far, but I have some plans over the next four days. Tomorrow Bob and I are visiting my grandmother, Friday we are meeting with our bank (about a mortgage), Saturday I'm meeting a friend for lunch and also going to an outdoor bar with Bob, and Sunday afternoon we're going to Bob's parents' house for dinner (two of his aunts and uncle will be there, they are visiting from West Virginia).
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Trashy Diva Red Water Lilies 1940's dress. I already had this print in the Day dress, and have blogged about that dress before, but I love this print SO much, that I also wanted it in this style. I looked for this dress for a long time, and finally someone in the TD Facebook group I'm in said she had one new with tags in my size that she'd sell me! This is my second 1940's dress, and I am really falling in love with this style. My first one I got recently, around March, and that one is in the Berry Chantilly print. I very rarely buy more than one piece in the same print, but I do make the occassional exception.
I'm wearing my new Re-Mix Vintage shoes in the pictures below that I blogged about a week or so ago. I'm glad these shoes match my Red Water Lilies print TD dresses so well. The heels are too high for me to wear them to work, but so far they have been very comfortable, in spite of their height.

Hello there! Today Bob and I heading to my parents' house for a family BBQ. Other than that, I'll just be working out, reading, and watching "Arrested Development" on Netflix. I just discovered it! I started watching it on a recent plane ride, and thought it was pretty funny, and wanted to look and see when I got home if Netflix had it. Bob and I watched a few episodes last night.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Doris dress that I've featured on my blog before. It is such a staple in my closet. I don't wear many solids if ya hadn't noticed, but you can't be a super flattering, comfy red dress! I wear this dress a lot to work, too. It also is the perfect dress to pair my accessories with! I have so many options with this dress, since many of my accessories have red in them.
My shoes I paired with this dress are new! They are Re-Mix Vintage brand, and it was my first time ordering this brand. The heel is definitely higher than my normal heel (4.25"), so I was nervous about that. But, before ordering, I asked some girls in a FB group I'm in if they were comfortable, and I was told that they were. I haven't worn them out yet, but so far, they do seem comfortable, although I'm definitely going to be careful walking in them, as I'm definitely klutzy. I love how vintage they look, and that there's four different colors in them. When I initially decided I wanted these shoes about a month or so ago, I found they were sold out on Trashy Diva's website, and they were sold out in my size on the Re-Mix site.
But, I signed up for an in stock alert on Re-Mix's site, and I received the alert while I was on vacation. I still debated a couple of days, and then went for it. It's a good thing I went for it when I did, because I saw they're sold out again in my size. The only problem is, I like them so much, I now want them in another colorway, ha! I want the green, purple, pink, & blue colorway from Trashy Diva, and I do have a coupon for TD, so I think I'm going to take the plunge shortly. They also will match my two TD Carnival dresses very well, which is great.
