Shiny Brites

Hello there! Today after work I ran to the same antique mall I went to last Friday, which is about 15 minutes from my job. I went there because I had time to kill before the board meeting tonight, which starts at 5:30. I also knew I had seen a enamel flower brooch in a display case last time that caught my eye, so I wanted to take a look at it outside of the case. The price was right (only $10), so I got it, and of course, while walking around, I spotted more items I wanted. I am seriously very impressed with this antique mall! It has a great selection, and great prices. I picked up a vintage cold cream jar (to display on my vintage vanity I'll be getting for our bedroom in our house), a vintage dessert tin to display, and a small vintage Christmas tablecloth.
I don't have much else going on the rest of the week yet, but Sunday I'll be going to church in the evening, and then going to my aunt and uncle's for dinner. I'm not sure yet if I'll be sleeping over my parents' that night, or staying at the apartment. I've been waiting on Bob to give me an answer on what he wants to do that night, himself.
In the pictures beow I'm wearing my new Pinup Girl Clothing ornament skirt, that I love oh so much! It arrived a week ago, and I've worn it four(!) times already! I wore it to work twice, to my work party last Saturday, and to a family dinner. I CAN'T STOP!! Previously my Oblong Box Shop reindeer skirt was my favorite Christmasy item of clothing, but this definitely rivals it for my #1 spot. I have gotten endless compliments on this beauty. I love how colorful the skirt is, and also that the ornaments are mid century ones! I do love Shiny Brites very much. I only have a few so far, and a couple of tree toppers, but can't wait to get more for when we get our vintage aluminum Christmas tree for next Christmas.

Rockin' Robin

Hello there! Yay for the weekend returning. Last night I met a friend for a drink. I hadn't seen her in awhile, so it was really nice to catch up with her. Today I'm going to Bethlehem with Bob to out to eat and go to a couple of shops.
Now that Christmas is under 2.5 months away, I can't wait to see what Christmasy dresses will be released from my favorite brands! I HATE winter, but I do really love Christmas; it's my favorite holiday.  I haven't bought any gifts yet, but my mom keeps asking me what I want for Christmas, and this week I told her about some jewelry on Etsy, but I have to come up with more, ha. I'm going to spend some time going through my Etsy "favorites" to see what else I can come up with for her. My mom is always way ahead of the game. She wrote out all of her Christmas cards last week!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress. This is the Connie style, and I have it in three prints now. I'd been eyeing this robin print for a long time, and finally made the plunge. A store owner in Florida that I know through some Facebook groups ordered it for me along with her own order, so I got a discount, and didn't pay shipping! Retrospec'd is one of my favorite dress brands, and I have eight of their dresses so far. They make such gorgeous prints! I'm not sure if all of them are, but I know at least some of their prints are exact copies of vintage prints.

Sugar Doll

Hello there! Tonight I met up with three friends from a former job, and it was great to catch up; I hadn't seen one of them since I quit the job seven months ago. I don't have much going on yet for this upcoming weekend, but I'm quite excited for its arrival. It's definitely cooled down now here, so much so that some mornings this week I wore a coat. But, by the time lunch break rolls around, it's been very comfortable out, warm; but not hot.
I'm almost done re-reading "Water For Elephants". If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it! Reading it again just made me remember how wonderful it is. The movie wasn't nearly as good as the book, which is unfortunately usually the case. The book is so well written and interesting, and I love the fact that so much of it is based on actual circus events, and mixed with circus folklore.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter Sugar Doll dress that I recently scored from a Bernie Facebook group. It's been a unicorn of mine for years! I had it in the light blue verison awhile back, but ended up selling it because it was big on me (it was a size larger than this one), and I wanted the yellow verison more. It's hard to find cute dresses with a yellow background, and I always love a good cherry print. This dress is very tight on my bust, but at least it does fit! I felt like I had to pair my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch with this dress.
I couldn't ignore that perfect pairing.

Green Gingham

Hello there! Two more days of work to get through, and then I am in full on vacation mode! My mind is already somewhat in that mode I must admit, ha. I'm seeing my friend Thursday after work for a drink, but other than that don't have plans between now and when we leave Friday morning. I did a lot of packing over the weekend, so I don't have much more to do for that.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Bernie Dexter dress I snagged during the Pin Up Girl Clothing 20% off 4th of July sale. I thought about getting this dress ever since it came out on Bernie's site months ago, but never went through with it. The Kelly is my favorite style of her dresses, and I can't resist a Kelly with a good print! I'm also a big lover of gingham, and green gingham is not so common. I sized up a size in this one because I wanted more room in the bust (my other Kellys are all a size smaller). It's definitely much easier to zip over my chest in this size (and bonus: I can zip it without the help of my husband), and is bigger in the waist, but the belt hides that.

Lydia Palettes

Hello there! Today I'm not doing too much, just hanging out at home. Yesterday we were at Bob's parent's all day, and got home around 9:30 p.m. Unfortunately, it never got as warm as it was supposed to (it until got up to 57 degrees), and was cloudy the whole time we were there. We hung outside for awhile, but eventually went inside, because it was too chilly. One of Bob's friends showed up, and was there the whole time. It was the first bbq of the season, and there was great food, but I just wish it had been a tad warmer, ha. Hopefully next Sunday will be nicer out, when I'm over my parent's for Mother's Day.
In the pictures below, I'm wearing my paint palettes Bernie Dexter Lydia dress. I got this back in November, and it's one of my staples in my wardrobe. The print is so colorful and cute, and I love the big red buttons, the front zip, and the collar. I wish I had ordered a size smaller, as the waist is really big, but at some point I'll have my mom take it in for me.

Palette Kelly

Hello there! Ugh, Mondays are rotten, aren't they? At least the temperature warmed up a bit today. I'm not doing much tonight or tomorrow night. I don't think I can express how excited I am to leave in two days for Vegas! This time two days from now, we'll be on the plane! I did a lot of packing this weekend, and have pretty much packed everything that I won't need before we leave.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newst Bernie, which arrived today. This is my new favorite style of Bernie dresses. It's called the Kelly, and I have one other dress in this style. I've always adored shirt dresses, and have a few from different brands, but the Bernie Kellys are extra special, becuase they have a front zip, as opposed to buttons. I have another paint palette Bernie dress, in a different style, and different color scheme. No such things as too many paint palette prints, right? I have more Bernie dresses than any other brand. She selects such gorgeous novelty prints, and picks great, flattering shapes, with very full skirts. It seems like in the past couple months she's been coming out with new dresses more frequently, which makes me happy!

A First For Me: A Cat Print

Hello there! Bob and I were going to go to Bethlehem today, but we are tired, and not feeling up to it. We went to bed late last night. We haven't done much at all today, but I did watch the movie "Amy" (the documentary about Amy Winehouse's life), which I've wanted to see since it first came out in theaters. It was sad, of course. I didn't listen to her music when it first came out, or know much about her. But, about a couple of years ago, I started to listen to more of her. The movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it was interesting. It seems a lot of the most talented, creative people are usually tortured inside.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Heart of Haute cat print dress that I ordered during a Black Friday sale. It's surprisingly the first cat print I've ever owned. (I'm a huge cat lover.) I really love wearing shirt dresses. I ordered up a size in this dress, since my Heart of Haute dresses are tight on my bust, and this has buttons that I didn't want to gape. Unfortunately, like my paint palette dress I recently got, this one is huge in the waist. But, I didn't want to exchange it, in case the buttons would gape in the next size down.

Paint Palettes Dress

Hello there! This weekend's going to be more eventful than usual. It's Bob's mom's birthday, my holiday work party, and Bob and I are planning on going to Bethlehem, PA to go their Christmas Market. Next week is my dad's birthday, and the following week is my great uncle's. So, December is even more busy for us, because of all the birthdays!
As soon as I saw this Bernie Dexter paint dress arrive on her website, I knew I had to have it! It instantly caught my eye because of how adorable and colourful it is! But, I didn't want to pay full price for it. So, I impatiently waited to see if it'd show up elsewhere, with a coupon code. When I posted a picture of it on Instagram, luckily someone commented and told me it'd be on their new website soon for a big discount! I was so excited to hear that, and bought it as soon as I went on the site. I ended up ordering another Bernie from their site the next day, too, for the same discounted price. After that, it took about two weeks to receive the dresses, as they hadn't received them themselves yet. They arrived Monday, and I couldn't wait to get home from work to try them on! I sized up from my usual Bernie size in this dress, as well as the other one I received. I knew the other one I received I would need to size up in for my bust, as I have other prints int he same style. (The Paris style.) As for this paint print dress, I sized up because of the buttons in front. I didn't want to risk gaping, or not being able to button them at all because of my chest. Well, unfortunately, this dress is very large in the waist. It does fit in the bust though, without gaping, which is good. I'll probably have my mom take it in for me at the waist. Even with a belt, I don't think this it defines my waist enough. I did switch this belt for a thicker one after taking pictures, and I thought it looked better. The Paris dress I received isn't nearly as big in the waist as this one is. I really have a love for shirt dresses, and I'm so glad I now have another! I think I'll be wearing this dress a lot. I can never have enough Bernie Dexter dresses! She's one of my very favourite designers. I have more Bernie dresses now than any other brand.

New Red Shoes

Hello there! Last night Bob & I stayed in, watched TV, and had some drinks. I also sewed(!) a bit, and he baked corn bread and fortune cookies. Bob has been helping me start sewing; I started Thursday night. I'm quite an unpatient person, but he is the opposite, so it's nice to have him calm me down. He's also very good with working with his hands and reading instruction, while I am not good with either! I just wait to see the finished product, and get to wear my popsicle skirt! The print is so bright and perfect for me. It may be a little "out of season" now, but I don't mind.
Bob's family is coming over tonight, which is why Bob was making fortune cookies last night. (He's making a chinese food meal, if you couldn't guess, ha.) I'm not that into Asian food, but he's making a dish with beef and broccoli, and that is one Asian dish that I do like. I'm also meeting my friend tonight for a drink.
The lighting was quite atrocious in the pictures below. But, I wanted to show my new B.A.I.T. Footwear red Robbie heels! They are a bright shade of red that I didn't have in a pair of shoes before. They match this strawberry skirt perfectly, as well as a lot of other skirts and dresses I have. I had been wearing a dark pair of red B.A.I.T. Ida heels with this skirt (and my other skirts and dresses), but I was hoping I'd find a better shade of red to match, and I'm glad I finally did. I already had these shoes in black patent, and knew they were comfy and adorable. I hope they make them in more colours I like/want soon. I really need a pair of kelly green heels!

Rainbow Harlequin

Hello there! I'm so glad that the weekend is here, once again. I don't have a lot going on this weekend either, and once again, Bob is working on a Satuday. But, three Saturdays and two Sundays in September I already have plans for, so that'll be a nice change of pace. In the beginning of September Bob and I are going to New Orleans for a short trip. I'm extremly excited to go back to my favorite city. We'll only be there three full days and part of a night. But, it's better than nothing obviously. One good thing is, we know all the spots we want to hit, since we were there for ten days last time. We got to see a lot last time. There is at least one new place we'll be going to though; there's a new tiki bar/resturant that's opened up earlier this year.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my very favorite prints. I also have this print in a skirt. I wear them both frequently, and this color scheme is my favorite of all my harlequin prints. I didn't discover it until it was sold out on the Heart of Haute site, and they were pretty hard to track down, but I'm so glad I eventually found both in my size. It's such a bright, fun print, and it just makes me feel good when I'm wearing it! My Shoe Bakery ice cream flats match this dress really well, since there's a cream color and tan color in the dress.

Big Polka Dots

Hello there! I'm not doing too much today, just reading, working out, and watching TV/relaxing with Bob. I may run to Marshall's and Target, too. The next two nights I'm meeting up with a friend (different friend each night), which will be nice.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Hell Bunny polka dot dresses. I bought this one from Modern Pinup over a year ago. I don't wear it that often, and I'm not sure why. I adore this shade of blue, plus I like the fun, bigger polka dots! I have two other Hell Bunny polka dot dresses with smaller polka dots. The fruit necklace I'm wearing is my favourite of my fruit necklaces, and the blue in it matches this dress so perfectly.

More Green Kimono

Hello there! I'm soooo happy that this work week is over. I didn't post a blog on Wednesday night, like I usually do, because I was having quite a bad day. I should've known it would be a bad day from the very beginning, because the first thing that went wrong was, as soon as I got to work and was walking in, I noticed I hadn't zipped up the side of my skirt! Thank God no one was walking in with me, ha! They would've gotten quite an eyeful. Actually before that, when I was getting ready in the morning, the button fell off of that skirt, and I had to sew it back on. Those were obviously very minor things, but a lot of other crap happened, mostly work stuff that I won't get it into on here. But, one really gross thing is: I was putting a notepad down on the ground (I was crouching in front of a closet), and when I placed it down, I put my hand down on a dead cave cricket!!!!!!! I HATE bugs and spiders soooo much, even dead ones. I can't even bear to move dead ones, so I had my co-worker throw it away. I couldn't believe I did that!
Tonight I'm running to Target & just relaxing at home. Tomorrow I'm doing my usual Saturday tasks: cleaning, laundry, working out. After that Bob & I are headed to Bethlehem to go out to eat. At night I'm going to the movies with my friend to see "Train Wreck". I rarely ever go to the movies. I hope it's good!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva Green Kimonos Anna dress. It's my first TD Anna style dress. It's my second TD dress in this print! I've never ordered two dresses in the same print before. I have ordered a skirt and a dress in the same print, though. Someone in the TD Facebook group I'm in was kind enough to sell this to me, and at a discount! She's a very sweet lady. The print speaks for itself really. It's simply stunning in person. The material is so light and airy. I wore it to work today, and two people complimented me on it, which is rare, because I work at an engineering company, ha!
