Blast Off

Hello there! I'm so glad it's the last day of January! I just can't wait for February to go by, too. I just want to be in March already. January & February in the northeast are the WORST. March can be bad too, but it does start to get a little bit better at some point in that month, plus March 20 is spring!
Last night I went to Panera with Bob, my parents, and grandmother. Friday evening Bob, me, and my parents we'll be meeting with a lawyer to transfer the deed for property that my own over to us, as we're buying some land from them to build a house. It'll be nice to have that done, and then we can start to apply for permits, and meet with the bank. We'd been at a standstill for awhile now, waiting on documents from a title agency.
I'm meeting a friend for brunch this Saturday, and don't have plans yet for the rest of the week, other than that. I'm fine with that, because beginning from March going through May I have a lot of weekend plans!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my very favorite dress, my Trashy Diva rockets print Annette dress. I've worn this dress many times, although not to work much, as it's such a special dress to me. But, I love wearing it outside of work, and on vacations. I'm so glad I also have the matching bolero, which I picked up during my honeymoon close to four years ago, before I had the dress. In these pictures I'm wearing a crinoline under the dress, and that's my first time trying one with this dress. I think it looks great.

Hello there! This is actually my 700th blog post! Hard to believe. I've been blogging for so long now, that it's just become so ingrained in my weekly routine. Even though I don't have many readers or commenters, I really am not bothered my that. In fact, I get so less comments now than I did a year or two ago, but that's fine with me. I write my blog for me, mainly. I need to have a creative outlet in my life, and this one works for me. I have an English degree, and love to read and write, but my job is all about numbers. So, I don't get a creative outlet at work, except on the occassion that I am asked to read and edit letters, emails, etc.
Last night Bob and I went out for drinks, and met up with my friend and his brother. We don't go out much for drinks (although Bob and I did go to a pub last weekend, by ourselves). Tonight we'll be going to my parents' house for dinner, along with my grandparents and aunt & uncle. I actually haven't seen my mom in a month, which is a long time for us. There's just less going on in the winter.
In a month or so I'll be seeing her a lot more; we're going to PA to go shopping March 3, March 17 we are going to an antique show, March 24 is my sister's bridal shower, April 1 is Easter, and then April 7 or 8 we are going antiquing in Adamstown. I have lots of plans in March & April! I'm also going to my sister's bachelorette party in Charleston, SC, and will be there from April 12-15.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my much worn Bernie Dexter Kelly dress in a U.S. states print. I got this about a year and a half ago, and I should've gotten a size down, but I just belt it tightly. I absolutely adore this print! For a traveler like me, it's perfect. I like to wear it on planes, too, and it's gotten noticed by the airline staff. These BAIT Footwear Heather shoes are new, and I love pairing a new pair of shoes with a much worn dress; I like have options to switch up my jewelry and shoes with a dress.
Bernie Dexter hasn't been releasing many new Kellys at all lately, which is great for my wallet! I definitely have more Kellys in my closet than any other of her styles. I can't recommend them enough; they're super comfortable and easy to wear.

Bella Donna

Hello there! Ugh, I can't wait for the weekend to be here. Just one more day to get through.
I'm sooo glad January is on its way out, as January & Feb are my least liked months of the year (due to the weather). Tomorrow night I'll be meeting my friend for a drink, and Saturday night Bob and I are going to my parents' house for dinner, along with my grandparents and aunt and uncle.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Pinup Girl Clothing Bella Donna Italian Landscape print dress. I got it from the PUG Swap & Sell Facebook group, new with tags, for a great price! I don't know why I never ordered this dress when it originally became available, other than the fact that in the past year or so, I haven't been ordering many clothes from PUG, as their sizing was wonky/not matching the size chart.
Anyway, I'm so glad I went for this dress! It's a size up from my normal PUG size, but it's not huge, just a little roomy and it's comfy. Eve though there is boning in the bodice of the dress, it doesn't bother me at all. The boning in my three Jenny dresses does bother me a bit, but they are also tighter on me than this dress. I may try to take the boning out this weekend, and see how they feel then.
I adore the shade of yellow that this dress is, the adorable pom poms, and the beautiful vintage reproduction Italian canal print! I wore this dress out to a pub last Saturday, and got a lot of compliments on it. It's not too easy to find a beautiful yellow dress, and I think I have three in my wardrobe that have a yellow background.

Flower Pot Sun Dress

Hello there! Well, this weekend has been nice weatherwise! Yesterday got up to the mid 40's, & so will today. Bob and I went out for an early dinner and drinks to a pub about ten minutes from us. It's a nice, quiet little place that we like to go to. The bar itself is quite small, so we try go there between the typical lunch and dinner times, so that it won't be packed. We've tried to go there a couple of times when we had to leave, because it was to full.
My outfit got a lot of attention at the pub yesterday, which is a bit overwhelming for me, as I'm shy. We did end up talking to a very nice couple my parents' age, for about twenty minutes. They started talking to us, because the husband complimented my purse. I get endless compliments on my Pinup Girl amoeba purses, from men and women; it's crazy!
Trying to explain to people about why I dress the way I do, and about what rockabilly is, can be difficult.
I met my friend after work on Friday for pizza, and then we went and got a drink afterwards. We rescheduled a couple of times, due to me being sick, and to the snow, so it was nice to finally see her. Our other former co-worker stopped by for a bit, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Retrospec'd flower pot sun dress, that I got from A Classic Paradise's online shop. I try to order my Retrospec'd dresses through them, as it's cheaper to do it that way, than direct from Retrospec'd. Retrospec'd is an Australian brand, so their website has pricey shipping, but A Classic Paradise has free shipping! Plus, A  Classic Paradise often has 20% off codes.
I love this print! Retrospec'd really chooses gorgeous floral prints. They had released this print, but in different dress styles, a few years ago, but I missed out on it before it sold out.
So, I was happy they brought this print back. I bought this dress mostly with money I got for Christmas too, which was a nice bonus, of course!

Snow Day

Hello thre! I have a snow day today, so no work for me! This is the third snow day my work has used. At our school, we have five built in snow days a year, and if we exceed that number before President's Day weekend, days will be taken away from that, and if we exceed that number before spring break, days will be taken away from that. So, I hope we use up five exactly, and no more, ha. Last year we didn't use any days until March!
This winter has been especially awful, though, both with cold, wind, and snow/ice. This weekend will be in the mid to high 40's though, so I'm looking forward to that, and really hoping Bob and I can go to Bethlehem on Saturday, since I was too sick this past Saturday to go.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Pinup Girl Clothing harlequin Lauren top. This is my first Lauren top, and I really like it! Harlequin is my favorite print too, and I alredy had this print in the Jenny dress, which I've had for four years. So, this top has been sold out online for a long time, but I found it through an Instagram seller, for only $23 including shipping! What a steal!
This harlequin colorway is also my favorite colorway of all the repro harlequin prints I've seen. But, fingers crossed that a repro brand releases a RAINBOW harlequin print! That would be my ultimate dream.
I had only been wearing one top with my Freddie's jeans, but now I'll also be wearing this top with them, too. These jeans are quite comfy, and I've worn them a lot this winter, to run errands, and on a couple of Fridays to work. I'm going to look into snagging another pair, hopefully used, from a US seller, and for a cheaper price than their website.

Cottage Rose Connie

Hello there! Well, so far it hasn't been a very exiting long weekend for me. I left work early onFriday, as well as Thursday, and I've just been stuck inside, mostly watching old movies on TCM. I am feeling somewhat better today, and my throat doesn't hurt anymore, which is great. I still have a stuffy nose and a cough, though. I had some plans for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but I had to cancel all of them.
Yesterday Bob and I were going to go to Bethlehem for lunch and drinks, and to go to the Moravian Bookstore (oldest bookstore in the U.S.), and I was really looking forward to do that. Fingers crossed that we'll get to go next Saturday! We haven't been there since last May I believe, so it's been too long.
I have off of work tomorrow too, for MLK, Jr. day (Bob doesn't). I really hope I'm all better by the time I go back to work on Tuesday.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Retrospec'd Connie dress that I just received. I ordered it on sale from their website recently, and used some of the money I got for Christmas to get it. This print had never really caught my eye before, but when I was browsing their sale section after Christmas, it did, and I'm glad I went for it. It's a beautiful rose print, and very comfortable. I have three other Connie dresses. Retrospec'd does a lot of beautiful vintage floral prints, and I have a few of them. They sure have a great eye for the vintage prints that they choose to reproduce!

Hello there! I'm a bit under the weather, with a cough, sore throat, and now runny nose. It started coming on Tuesday night. I very rarely get sick, and I don't take that for granted.
I canceled plans to meet my friend for dinner tonight and left work early today to go home and rest. Bob and I were planning on going to Bethlehem this Saturday, and we haven't been there since I think May, but we'll have to see how I feel then.
It's going to be sixty whopping degrees tomorrow! Weather in New Jersey is INSANE. A week ago it was literally below zero. But, I'm very happy it'll be so warm! It's unfortunately also supposed to rain, though. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything, ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter kitten print Darlene dress. I have hardly any dresses with a pink background, even though it's one of my favorite colors.
I love the style of this dress, and I think the Peter Pan collar is super cute. Bernie Dexter sizing can definitely be different from style to style or print to print (within the same style), and this is my only Darlene dress, but I really like the fit on this one. The waist is loose, but not huge.
I really wish I had a kitten of my own! I really miss living with animals, and can't wait to have them again! I love both cats and dogs tremendously, but cats will always have the #1 place in my heart.

Green Kimono

Hello there! Yesterday we ended up having a snow day again. I was surprised by that; I wasn't surprised when I found out the night before that we'd have a delay the next morning, but I was surprised when they changed it to a closing. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday morning about forty minutes away, and luckily I didn't have any issues driving on the roads I took. Bob ended up not having work yesterday, so when I got back home from my appointment, we got to hang out together at the apartment.
I was supposed to go to Panera with Bob, my dad and grandmother last night, but we cancelled due to the extreme cold. We'll get together next week when it warms up, instead.
I'm very excited for it to warm up!! It's supposed to be 50 degrees by this Friday!
Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch at Panera.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Green Kimono Anna dess that I got about a couple of years ago. It's lightweight, so it's perfect to wear in warmer weather. This print is very colorful, so of course I was drawn to it. I haven't oderd frm Trashy Diva in six months now, as I haven't been into any of their releases since I last ordered. They haven't been releasing bright colors at all lately. But, usually they do that in the winter through mid summer, so I'm hopeful for bright prints around the corner! I know last year starting in late January they started releasing brighter prints.

We All Scream

Hello there! Today is our first snow day of the school year. When I first woke up at 5:30, I didn't have any texts or calls from the school, so I figured it'd be a normal school day. I had been expecting a delay though (usually the texts and calls come in before I wake up). But, about half an hour later, I got a text and call that school was closed. It hadn't snowed much at all yet at that point, but now it is.
I went back to bed a little bit after I heard from the school, which was nice. This is just one of the perks of working at a school! If I was still at one of my old jobs, I'd have to be a nervous wreck about driving in slippery, dangerous conditions. I get to relax at home, and Bob has to work really hard on days like this, so I definitely feel for him. My mom's school stayed open today, and she said the roads were horrible. It does look bad, on the road right outside where I live.
I'll be working out, doing laundry, reading, and relaxing today. Oh, and "Will & Grace" is back on tonight, after taking a midseason break! I'm really looking forward to watching it. I don't like many shows at all on cable channels, but I do love that one, and always have.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter ice cream sundae print Kelly dress that I got about a year ago, and posted about twice before. I love this print so much, and I've had this print in a couple of other styles first that I no longer have. This is definitely my favorite style of the ones I had, and the most comfortable. Shirt dresses forever, especially zip front ones!!

Paint With All The Colors of the Wind

Hello there! Well, I'm still freezing my butt off here in New Jersey. Right about now 35 degrees sounds like heaven. Isn't that pathetic?? Since it's been so disgusting out, I've got warm vacations on my mind as of late!! I've been thinking more about our Nashville trip in May and Tiki Oasis trip in August.
We haven't booked anything for either trip yet, but I definitely want to get things booked for Nashville VERY soon! If it were up to me, we'd already have something booked for it, but Bob doesn't like doing things too much in advance...which is just one of the ways in which we are quite different! Hopefully by this weekend we will book the Nashville hotel at least. One of the hotels right by the Nashville Palace actually booked up months ago already!
In spite of the fact that it's now been two weeks into winter, I am glad for one thing: it's staying lighter out longer! In my opinion, that's the only positive thing about getting further into winter.
This Friday night I'll be going to Panera for dinner with Bob, my dad & grandmother, and Saturday I'll be meeting a friend for lunch. Other than that, I don't have much else going on this week as of now, which is fine, as I really dread going out at all in this weather.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Bernie Dexter palette Kelly dresses. This is my favorite of the two, and although it's the same size as the other, it does fit me better. This is absolutely one of my favorite and most worn Bernie dresses. I got it as soon as it was released, about a year ago. I love that these bright green BAIT shoes match so well with the green in the dress.
