Vivian Roses

Hello there! I am SO happy it's a three day weekend! It's been two months since I've had a long weekend, and it's seemed like even longer. Yesterday I went to a flea market about half an hour from me. I haven't really been to one since I was a kid. I didn't know what to expect, but was hoping I'd find some goodies, and good deals.
I got a vintage cookie jar I'd been after for awhile, two 50's spaghetti poodle figurine sets (only $10 each), a Blendo glass (for ten cents), and a 60's vintage enamel flower brooch. Admission to get in was only $2, too. I'm really glad I went! It wasn't as big as I thought it'd be, and there weren't really any vintage holiday items or 50's items. I pretty much snagged all the 50's items, ha.
Today Bob and I are going to his cousin's house for a Labor Day bbq. We got there every year. His cousin's wife is pregnant with their first child (due in two months), and I haven't seen her in a few months.
We leave for our big trip in just twelve(!!) days now. When I think about it, my stomach gets butterflies! I'm so looking forward to it, and just imagining what it will be like is exciting.
I hope we find the right balance of hitting most of the things we want to see, but not rushing around too much.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dres that I snagged in their latest sale a couple of weeks or so ago. I loved this print since I first saw it about a year ago. The colors of the roses are so beautiful. The Vivian is one of my favorite styles they make; it's comfortable and fits me well. Some of their other styles are super tight on my bust, while they fit my waist.

Love Me Tender

Hello there! We're still in quite the heat wave here, although luckily the humidity has dropped a lot, otherwise, it'd be unbearable outside. This Saturday's going to be the warmest day; it's supposed to be 97 degrees. I'm really enjoying summer, and wish it could stay forever. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't understand how seasons work, and they think that summer ends August 31st....we still have over two months left of summer. The first day of fall isn't until September 23!
Bob's been working SO much on our house lately. He goes there most nights after work, and most Saturdays all day. He loves working on it, but the drawback is it leaves him with hardly any down time. It's also frustrating when I want to go somewhere on a Saturday, especially because it's so nice out, but he can't go with me. I've really been itching to go Asbury Park for a day trip, and to go in the ocean, and I'm hoping we get to go one Saturday very soon!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress. I got this Love Me Tender Elizabeth dress for a great price during their recent sale. It's a lot of black for me to wear, but the pink rose print is just so stunning! I ahd thought abut buying it for a year or so, but never took the plunge.

Grand Canal

Hello there! Only twenty four more days until spring, but who's counting?? Winter always feel incredibly long to me, and spring never comes soon enough. Even the warmer days we've been having here, like today, it's usually dreary and rainy on those days. I'm ready for the weather to be as bright as my outfits!
Yesterday my mom and I went to a local antique show together. At this show, there's not as many holiday vendors as there are at the holiday shows we go to in November & December, so we usually don't see as much items we want to buy. My mom got antique Easter tin toy, and I got a couple of small holiday antiques: a vintage tree topper for a small table top tree, and two little plastic bunnies.
Last night Bob and I went to his dad's house for a family dinner; some of his extended family came over, too. His aunt and uncle who live in Georgia were in town, so they were there, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Retrospec'd Grand Canal Connie dress. I got this over a year ago, and have gotten a ton of wear out of it. I wear it to work a lot. The Connie dresses are super comfortable. This rich, bright shade of blue is just divine; you don't see it too often. I really love prints of cities, like this Venice print. I have a couple of New Orleans prints, too, but I think that's it so far.
Isn't this atomic brooch fabulous? It's from Luxulite, and came with two other smaller ones in the set, and I also got a neon coral set.

Lanterns Gigi

Hello there! So far it's been a scorching hot week here; yesterday it reached 90, and was humid. Our power even went out for forty-five minutes last night, but luckily it came back on before we went to bed, or else I don't know how we would've been able to sleep without a/c/! A couple minutes after the power went out, I was already uncomfortably hot.
I'm excited to go to the rockabilly show on Thursday with Bob, only two days away now (it's also the first day of summer, and our fourth wedding anniversary)! Tomorrow night I'll be going to Panera for dinner with Bob, my dad, and grandmother.
Fingers crossed that Bob and I are going to Asbury Park for the day on Saturday. He knows I really want go, but he hasn't let me know yet if that's what we'll be doing.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a beautiful Retrospec'd Gigi dress that I got on sale recently, and on top of it, I used a 20% off discount code, so I got it for a really great price!
I had liked this print for a long time, too. I love beautiful Asian inspired prints, and Asian lanterns are no exception.
I ordered the dress in my size, but after I placed the order, Retrospec'd contacted me to let m know they actually were sold out in my size. They offered me the next size up, and I took it, knowing the dress would definitely be big on me, and it is really big in the waist. So, I have to wear it belted, and that does help a lot. Since I love red dresses, it's a plus that this dress has a nice red background.
If you order directly from the Retrospec'd website, which I don't do much, the shipping is expensive; it's $19, but it does come insanely fast. It comes to me within three days of it being shipped, all the way from Australia! When I order from PUG or Unique Vintage, which are located in California, it takes 7-8 days. What a difference!
I've been wearing this Remix Vintage Shoes purple sandals A LOT, since I received them.
They are VERY comfortable, and that shade of purple just can't be beat.

Out Like A Lamb??

Hello there! This week is nice and short for me; I have a half day tomorrow, and am off on Friday. Can you believe Easter is only a few days away now?!  Unfortunately, the really cold weather was sticking around until only a couple of days ago. It actually hit 50 degrees today, which is definitely an improvement!
I haven't had much going on this week yet. I'll be going to my grandmother's tomorrow night, with Bob and my dad, for pizza. Friday evening Bob and I have an appointment at the bank, regarding our house construction, and Saturday I'll be meeting some friends for lunch.
Well, the bridal shower for my sister last Saturday was a success. My mom helped out a lot, especially with the food! She made a lot of the food, and I helped her get some of it together, and I also made two kinds of cookies. There was about thirty people there, and it was held at my aunt and uncle's house about half an hour or so from me. They have a very big, beautiful home. They both collect antiques, and have very similar interests to my parents' antiquing interests, so I loved seeing their displayed antiques.
Saturday was the first time that I met three of the bridesmaids, and I'll be seeing them all again in two weeks(!!) for the bachelorette party. It was a long day, but the shower itself went by pretty quickly. I posted a couple of pictures below.
In the pictures below I'm my Retrospec'd fruit print dress that I got two years ago at Viva Las Vegas, and have worn tons of times since. It's also the first Retrospec'd dress I ever bought! This is the only print I have in the Peggy style, but I do like this style a lot. Retrospec'd chooses such lovely vintage prints to make reproductions of, and I highly recommend the brand. This is one of my all time favorite prints.
Retrospec'd's quality is quite good, and the dresses are machine washable, which is a HUGE plus in my book!

Gone To The Dogs

Hello there! Well, spring is TOMORROW, as per the calendar....but, not so much feeling like it here in NJ. We are supposed to be getting hit with a big snowstorm on Wednesday, and if so, I won't be having work that day. I just can not wait until it actually looks and feels like spring here! It's been a crazy long, painful winter. I have cold fatigue and snow fatigue, big time. I'd love to start seeing flowers blooming, too!
Tomorrow I have an out of office meeting I'm going to, which my mom is also going to, so we're carpooling. So, depending on the weather, I may not be back in the office until Thursday.
I had quite a full weekend. Friday night Bob and I went went to my grandmother's for pizza, and my dad met us there. Later on that night I went to my friend's apartment to visit. Saturday night Bob's friend and his wife and their son came over for dinner. The baby is six months old, and the cutest thing!! We hadn't seen him since he was a month and a half. Sunday I met my friend for lunch at Cheesecake Factory. My chicken salad sandwich was quite good, and it had big pieces of tomato, mmm! The friend I was with is the one whose going to Charleston with me in three and a half weeks. She's driving us down there, and I'm very lucky/grateful she offered to do that. I don't like driving in places I'm not familiar with, so I wouldn't drive there myself, and the plane ticket was crazy expensive.
Tomorrow afternoon I'm meeting a friend at Panera, and Wednesday I was planning on going to the board meeting, but won't be going if we have a snow day that day. Saturday is my sister's bridal shower, so I'll be getting ready for that Friday evening and all day Saturday.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Retrospec'd poodle print dresses (I have two).
While poodles are definitely not one of my favorite dog breeds, the print is super cute! The shoes I'm wearing are BAIT (of course), and I just got them from Modcloth. I hadn't ordered from Modcloth in forever, but I got a coupon code for the site, and they ended up being cheaper to get them from Modcloth than BAITs own site.

Rockin' Robin

Hello there! Well, yesterday I had a snow day from work due to the big snow storm that hit us, and today I had a delayed opening. The only full day I've worked so far this week was Tuesday. I definitely starterd to get bored after awhile yesterday, though. I watched "The Shop Around the Corner" with Jimmy Stewart, and that was really good, and he was so cute in it! I also watched trashy TV and worked out and read, but didn't do much else, ha. I really couldn't be MORE ready for spring! Clocks spring ahead this weekend, by the way. Yay, for more sunlight!!
I can't wait for the weekend! Saturday is attempt #2 for my mom and I to go antiquing in PA. It's not supposed to snow again before then, so we should be good to go there. Her dog, Heidi, will be at my feet/on my feet during the journey, which I love. I'm also going out with Bob either Friday or Saturday night for drinks and possibly dinner. My weekends are definitely getting busier, starting this weekend. Next weekend we have plans with Bob's friends, and I have plans with one of my friends, as well. The following weekend is my sister's bridal shower, and the last weekend of the month I have plans with friends, and it's Easter that Sunday....on and on it goes through May.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd robin print dress in the Connie style.
I have more Connies than any other Retrospec'd dress style. Shirt dresses are my jam, if you hadn't noticed.

Field Flowers

Hello there! Well, it's felt pretty spring like so far this week, and I'm not ready for it to go away! I've had my windows down in my car in the afternoons. The one downside to having my windows down on my lunch break (I was sitting in my car at a park) is that since it's so nice out, ore people than normal are walking, bike riding, etc. at the park, and it's noisier, with people talking/babies crying, etc. Don't they know I'm trying to read?!
But, alas, it's supposed to be windy and snow on Friday. March: in like a lion, out like a lamb, right? We'll see about that, but it will be coming in like a lion, if the forecast is right. It's just so happy this is the last day of rotten February!! It went much faster than January did. Spring is only 20 days away now. I just can't to see all the flowers in bloom, and feel the warm sunshine here to stay.
Tonight I'm meeting my dad and grandmother for dinner at Panera, and I'm meeting a friend tomorrow after work for pizza. I'm really looking forward to Saturday, when I'm going out to Pennsylvania with my mom to go antique shopping/Easter decoration shopping. I do have to wake up around 6:30 that morning to get ready to meet her, but it's worth it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd Field Flowers Vivian dress that I got a couple of months or so ago, and blogged about back then. I adore this beautiful print so much, and I also love the Vivian style dress, and have it in one other print. It's a very comfortable style. I think my green vintage flower pin pairs nicely with the dress. This dress, topped with a light cardi, is perfect for spring!

French Quarter

Hello there! This week was super busy at work, and I stayed late the past two days, but now I have the next four days off! I'm looking forward to doing a lot of relaxing and decompressing from the crazy work week. I plan on doing a lot tomorrow though, like cleaning and doing landry, running a couple of errands, working out, reading, etc.
Today was a high of 62 degrees! I went out to lunch today with some co-workers for my boss's birthday, so we got to leave the office in the nice weather. God, I can't wait for spring to arrive. 33 days, but who's counting?? January took so long to get through, but now we're halfway through February, which is great! We are supposed to get a snowstorm Saturday night though, ughhh. One foot forward, two feet back. I feel so bad for Bob, since that means he won't get much of a weekend (and he's not off tomorrow or Monday like I am).
Anyone been watching the winter Olympics? I love watching ice skating the best, and I've seen some of it so far, but I know I've missed some. I just checked and saw there's more on tonight (men's), so I'll definitely be watching it! Ice skating is just so impressive to me, the things those athletes can do! I probably couldn't even skate a few feet without falling, ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd french quarter print Gigi dress. It's a new release from Retrospec'd, but Trashy Diva released this print years ago, although in a different color scheme. I have a TD french quarter print dress, as well. Sometimes vintage repro companies will find and recreate the same vintage prints. I'm happy to have this wonderful print of my favorite city, in two different color schemes and two different style dresses. I wore this dress this week and one of my TD carnival print dresses, as Tuesday was Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday! I'm sure it's an amazing time to be down in NOLA during Mardi Gras, but I don't think I could handle how crowded and crazy it'd be.

Flower Pot Sun Dress

Hello there! Well, this weekend has been nice weatherwise! Yesterday got up to the mid 40's, & so will today. Bob and I went out for an early dinner and drinks to a pub about ten minutes from us. It's a nice, quiet little place that we like to go to. The bar itself is quite small, so we try go there between the typical lunch and dinner times, so that it won't be packed. We've tried to go there a couple of times when we had to leave, because it was to full.
My outfit got a lot of attention at the pub yesterday, which is a bit overwhelming for me, as I'm shy. We did end up talking to a very nice couple my parents' age, for about twenty minutes. They started talking to us, because the husband complimented my purse. I get endless compliments on my Pinup Girl amoeba purses, from men and women; it's crazy!
Trying to explain to people about why I dress the way I do, and about what rockabilly is, can be difficult.
I met my friend after work on Friday for pizza, and then we went and got a drink afterwards. We rescheduled a couple of times, due to me being sick, and to the snow, so it was nice to finally see her. Our other former co-worker stopped by for a bit, too.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Retrospec'd flower pot sun dress, that I got from A Classic Paradise's online shop. I try to order my Retrospec'd dresses through them, as it's cheaper to do it that way, than direct from Retrospec'd. Retrospec'd is an Australian brand, so their website has pricey shipping, but A Classic Paradise has free shipping! Plus, A  Classic Paradise often has 20% off codes.
I love this print! Retrospec'd really chooses gorgeous floral prints. They had released this print, but in different dress styles, a few years ago, but I missed out on it before it sold out.
So, I was happy they brought this print back. I bought this dress mostly with money I got for Christmas too, which was a nice bonus, of course!

Cottage Rose Connie

Hello there! Well, so far it hasn't been a very exiting long weekend for me. I left work early onFriday, as well as Thursday, and I've just been stuck inside, mostly watching old movies on TCM. I am feeling somewhat better today, and my throat doesn't hurt anymore, which is great. I still have a stuffy nose and a cough, though. I had some plans for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but I had to cancel all of them.
Yesterday Bob and I were going to go to Bethlehem for lunch and drinks, and to go to the Moravian Bookstore (oldest bookstore in the U.S.), and I was really looking forward to do that. Fingers crossed that we'll get to go next Saturday! We haven't been there since last May I believe, so it's been too long.
I have off of work tomorrow too, for MLK, Jr. day (Bob doesn't). I really hope I'm all better by the time I go back to work on Tuesday.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Retrospec'd Connie dress that I just received. I ordered it on sale from their website recently, and used some of the money I got for Christmas to get it. This print had never really caught my eye before, but when I was browsing their sale section after Christmas, it did, and I'm glad I went for it. It's a beautiful rose print, and very comfortable. I have three other Connie dresses. Retrospec'd does a lot of beautiful vintage floral prints, and I have a few of them. They sure have a great eye for the vintage prints that they choose to reproduce!

A Very Merry Christmas

Hello there! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas Eve & Christmas, if you celebrate; mine was good. Bob did have to go out and salt; he worked a couple of hours on Christmas Eve & Christmas, which was annoying. I slept over my parents' on Christmas Eve, and Bob came up Christmas Day around 5:00 p.m. All of my grandparents came over at 1:00 p.m. We didn't get much snow, maybe two inches, but it was enough to make a white Chrsitmas, which we hadn't had in a long time.
My parents gave me some Christmas antiques, which is the first time I've gotten any antiques for Christmas. I also got a wallet, jewelry, calendars, etc. from them. My mom really surprised me with the blue bottle brush tree she gave me, and the antique snowman and snowwoman she gave me.
I had been with her at both Christmas antique shows where vendors were selling them, and she knew I liked them. I never thought she bought them for me, though! In fact, the snowman and woma were already sold to someone else, but it was a friend of hers, and she contacted her to ask if the friend would be keeping or selling them (she's an antique dealer).
My dad also gave me money to go antiquing with my mom this Saturday, so I'm happy about that! Hopefully I won't need to spend too much of my own money.
This morning I went to my sister's wedding venue with her and my mom, and then we went to a cake tasting at the bakery she'll be using for her cake.
It's so frigidly cold this week, that it makes me not want to leave my apartment, ugh!! It's not getting out of the twenties for at last another week, either.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd flamenco print Elizabeth dress. I got this one a few months or so ago, via A Classic Paradise. I love the colors in this one, especially that background shade of pink. It's quite tight on my bust, so the Elizabeth is not my favorite Retrospec'd style. The Vivian is a similar style, but fits me better in the bust.
