A Dress Fit For A BBQ

Hello there! Yesterday I was at a bbq all day at Bob's parents' house for his and his brother's birthdays. It was the first bbq this year, and the weather was gorgeous yesterday!! We've had so many cloudy and/or rainy days lately, but yesterday the sun was out, and it was about 80 degrees, and breezy. We got there around 2:00 p.m., and got home at 11:00 p.m. More people showed up there than I thought would, and Bob had a lot of fun. He doesn't get to see his friends too much, so I was happy for him that he got to see a few of them yesterday (some of his extended family came, too).
Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch at Panera (we were supposed to meet Friday night, but we rescheduled for today), working out, going to Home Goods, which I haven't been to in months, and just reading, watching TV at home.
I'm really looking forward to next Saturday, when I'm going to New Hope for the day, with Bob. We haven't been there in quite awhile.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter bbq dress that I've had for two years.
It truly is one of my favorite Bernie prints. I usually wear it from around April - September, so I haven't worn it since last August or September. I was so happy to break it out again!
It's such a fun, retro print that really is perfect for a bbq. I'm also wearing my favorite fruit necklace. I got this about a year and a half ago at an antique mall, although it's not an antique, ha. It was made by a French designer, Marion Godart.

Watermelon Skirt

Hello there! Well, it's still very gloomy around here; it hasn't been sunny this week at all.
I can't wait to see & feel the sun again. But, I am endlessly glad and thankful that winter is OVER, and that trees and flowers are blooming everywhere!
I'm not doing much tonight or tomorrow night, but Friday night I'm meeting my friend for a drink, and Saturday I'll be going to Bob's parents' house for the bbq him & his brother are having for their birthdays.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Unique Vintage watermelon skirt that I got a year ago, and have posted about before. I haven't worn in quite awhile, and I can't wait to break it out now that it's springtime! I also just happily discovered that my long sleeve pink cardigan matches this skirt quite well. I'm not a big fan of UV; I've had issues before with a pre-order item & their customer service, and also their shipping takes FOREVER. So, I rarely buy from them now. But, I did just order their candy shop print skirt, because it was on sale, plus I had a coupon, ha (paid under $40!). It's the same style of skirt as this one, but with the most adorable, bright candy shop print! I've admired it on others for awhile, but didn't want to pay full price for it, so I'm glad it finally went on sale (the sale was temporary, just over last weekend).

Sundae Kelly

Hello there! Well, it's hard to believe that my spring break is almost over with! I go back to work tomorrow. It's a hard transition after having a week and a half off. It always is, no matter how much I like or don't like a job, but of course the fact that I like my job makes it a lot less hard to go back! Snce I've gotten back from vacation, I haven't done too much outside of the apartment. But, I've certainly enjoyed all the relaxing I've gotten to do! I did go out last night to a local bar with Bob, and my friend met us there later. Bob wanted to go out for his birthday. We did celebrate in Vegas too, just the two of us. Also, this coming Saturday him and his brother are having a joint birthday bbq at his parents' house. So, he's having lots of celebrations this year, ha! I'm looking forward to the bbq, the first of the season.
Today I went to Panera for lunch with my mom and grandmother. I love Panera, and hadn't eaten at one in a little while. My grandmother loves to go there too, and she recently moved back here from California. Other than that, I worked out earlier and did some reading. I'm currently reading "The Zookeeper's Wife". It's a true story that takes place in Poland during WWII. I want to see the movie too, which just came out. I'm not doing much else today. Preparing myself mentally to go back to work tomorrow, ha!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter ice cream sundae Kelly dress, which I posted about once before. I've had it a couple of months. But, my BAIT Remmys are new!
I got them from Zulilly recently. It was my first purchase ever from Zulilly. I've heard some items take awhile to ship, but luckily these shipped immediately. I had liked the look of the Remmy style since they first came out a couple of years or so ago, but I never made the plunge to buy them. I'm glad I did! I love how they look with my dresses, and they seem comfortable so far.

Vegas, Part I

Hello there! I'm going to post about the first part of my Vegas trip. We got to our hotel toom Wednesday night around midnight. We had booked a non-smoking room, but when we got there, they said they had no non-smoking rooms left, and they placed us in a smoking room. I wasn't happy about it at all, but we didn't have a choice. This has never happened to us before anywhere. We were staying at the Flamingo, and it was our forth time staying there. They told us we could switch rooms the next day, but that didn't end up happening. So, we didn't get into a non-smoking room until the day after. We were both disappointed with the Flamingo, and I don't know if we'd stay there again. We didn't like the way they handled the situation either, which is, basically they acted as if they didn't care.
But, moving on, we went out for a couple of drinks in the hotel that first night, and then just went to bed. We had been up for 24 hours by the time we went to bed. Thursday we headed over to the Orleans in the morning to pick up our Viva wristbands. Luckily the line was very short, and it only took a couple of minutes. After that we headed out to lunch near our hotel, and then we went over to Frankie's Tiki Room. There were only a few people there, so that was really nice. The bartender we had was great too; we had never had him before on previous Vegas trips. We stayed at Frankie's for awhile, and then headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading back to the Orleans. When we got back over to the Orleans we watched some music and went to the vendor rooms. I only picked up a hair flower there.
On Friday we went to the Charleston Antique Mall; we had never been there before, but I had heard good things about it. It was a decent sized place, but we didn't end up buying anything there. Before that we went to the Bellagio in the morning, to look at their conservatory & botantical garden. They change their display there seasonally, and we always make sure to stop there on our Vegas trips. The displays are beyond gorgeous and amazing! They had a Japanese spring theme this time.
We went to the Orleans to watch some music, and we went to Balliwick Pub for the first time. We ended up going there three days during our trip. We really liked it there, and they also had a stage with live music going on. The food was good, too. We went to the Peppermill for an early dinner, and then we went to check out their lounge (it's attached to the restaurant). We had tried to check out the lounge last year, but it had been closed for a private party.
The lounge was okay, if a bit of a let down, ha. There was one fire pit inside, and it did give off a lot of heat, but Bob got hot quickly, and we went back to sit at one of the bars in the lounge. After we left there, we headed to Frankie's. It was much busier there, and we could only find seating on a bench (there were no seats at the bar), and the guy who was already sitting on the other side of the bench started talking to us. We talked to him and then his friends for awhile, but itt was really loud in there, making it hard to hear.
In my next blog post I'll write about the remainder of the trip.

Buzz, buzz!

Hello there! Well, I am back safe & sound from Vegas. Bob and I got home Tuesday night around 11:30 p.m. We had a whirlwhind time at Viva. Since we didn't stay at the Orleans (where Viva is held), we did a lot of back and forth between our hotel & the Orleans. It'd be much easier to be staying where the event is held, but it sells out a year in advance. I'm so excited to be staying where the Nashville Boogie is for two nights of the four of the event, and the other two nights of the event we are staying at their sister hotel across the street.
Monday, the day after Viva ended, we were able to have a much slower paced day and night. It was also the day before Bob's birthday, and the day before we flew home, so I wanted to do things Bob wanted to do. He had been so patient during Viva. Don't get me wrong, he loves watching the bands, and we did do a lot of that, but he's not so much for watching me shop, ha!
We had mostly great weather while we were there, except that a couple of days it was quite windy, which messed up my hair and made it hazardous to wear a dress, ha! Also, on Monday it was cloudy the whole day, and cooler, but not too cool where I'd complain, ha. I'd rather it be cloudy than raining, that's for sure. I got a little bit sun burnt at the car show on Saturday, but barely on my face. Bob got burnt on his face and head though. He also didn't put on sunblock, and I had it on.
I met some new people this trip, including Micheline Pitt, and the man behind Brighter Bakelite and the woman behind Luxulite! All three of them were so nice and sweet. I met a few other people at Viva, and also met people at Franie's Tiki Room, some who were locals, and some who were there for Viva. There was only one person I met who was disappointing in person, but I will not say who it was. This is rare though, and I only remember it happening one other time (but it wasn't at Viva, it was at New England Shake Up). For the most part, people who attend Viva are super sweet and fun. I do think there are some snobs, but that's going to happen with any group of people.
I don't have work until Monday, because my school has spring break right now. So, it's so nice to have a long break between our busy trip, and going back to work. Bob took off yesterday, but he went back to work today.
I'll post pictures soon from Vegas (probably starting in my next post on Saturday), but for now here are pictures of my newest Bernie dress. It was waiting for me when we arrived back home. It's the Mari style, and it's my first Mari. I do have this print, but with a blue background, and in the Jodi dress style. This is a little harder to zip over my chest than my Kellys in the same size; in fact, I wasn't sure it actually would zip. Next time I get a Mari, I'll order a size up. But otherwise, I love the dress!

Retrospec'd Pagoda Sun Dress

Hello there! Yesterday I saw some family in the afternoon, and for dinner Bob and I went to my parent's house. My mom had this super cute antique Easter sign, and I told her how much I loved it, and she gave it to me! I posted a picture below. The graphics are soooo darn cute! I'm so glad she gave it to me. She said she's never seen it for sale anywhere after she bought it. My mom has an excellent holiday antique collection (Halloween, Christmas, & Easter), and she's given me a few of her pieces so far.
Today I'm not doing much. I'll be packing a little more today (only 3 more days!!!), and working out and reading. I may run to an antique store, but I've been putting off going there, since I have two vacations coming up, and I don't want to spend more money, ha. There's one booth in particular there that I love, and would probably have at least one item I want.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Retrospec'd dress that I purchased from A Classic Paradise. I had seen this print on a different Retrospec'd style dress awhile ago, and loved it, but never ended up buying the dress, and eventually it sold out. They just recently released the print in this sun dress style, and I didn't want to miss out again, so I went for it. I love the beautiful Asian pagoda and mountain print. There are a lot of Asian prints that I love. I have a few gorgeous Trashy Diva Asian prints, but I think this is my only non-TD Asian print.
I ordered my normal Retrospec'd size in this dress, and I'd say it runs pretty true to size; it fits my bust, but is big on my waist. The only weird thing with this dress is that the straps are very short. The straps are adjustable, but even wearing them as long as possible, they are still short. If they were any shorter, I don't think I could get the dress on. It may have just been a fluke on my particular dress. I have one other dress in ths style, and the straps are definitely longer.

Hello there! ONE week until Bob & I leave for Vegas! It's sooo soon now, and my excitement is pretty much through the roof, ha. Bob isn't nearly as excitable or emotional of a person as I am, but he texted me today, and said he's getting excited now, which makes me happy.
We'll be celebrating his birthday while we're there too; we're actually flying home on his birthday. So, we'll be celebrating not the night before we leave, but the night before that, so we can stay out late.
I haven't had much going on this week yet, but I'll be meeting some former co-workers tomorrow night for drinks, and I think I'll be seeing my family on Saturday (not sure what we're doing yet).
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva dress, in their brand new carnival print! I LOVE this print. It looks like a true vintage print, and in fact, it is almost an exact reproduction of a vintage print, except that the colors in the print were changed from the original vintage print.
This style is called the Annette, and I have more TD Annettes than any other TD styles. The fabric is cotton voile, and I'm not wearing a petticoat under the dress, but it looks like I am (you can tell that more, if my hands weren't on my hips in this pic, ha!). The fabric poofs a lot around the hips. This print is called "carnival", and they only released it in three styles, which is less than what they normally release. I ordered my normal TD size, plus one size up in this one, and it's a good thing I ordered a size up, as I needed to for my chest. I returned the other one.
I just love a great novelty print, and this one does not disappoint! TD has done a lot of floral and Asian prints, and not as many novelty prints like this, so it's always extremly exciting for me when they do! I already had one TD New Orleans print in my wardrobe, but I'm so glad to have this one too, as New Orleans is my favorite city. I also love the colors in this one more than my other one.
I can't wait to wear this dress at Viva! Viva is held at The Orleans hotel, so this dress is beyond perfect to wear there!

A Day Out

Hello there! Yesterday was a pretty full day; after I cleaned, did laundry and worked out, Bob and I headed out to Bethlehem. We went out to eat at my favorite restaurant there, and then we walked down the street to the Moravian Book Store, which is the oldest book store in the U.S. They usually have cute holiday/seasonal decorations, but I didn't find anything to buy there yesterday.
On our way back we stopped at an antique store we had never been to before. It's about half an hour from where we live, and I had been meaning to check it out for months. I found a cute little sour cream glass with pink ivy on it, for $4. They also had a wonderful formica vintage table that I really want, and that I think we're going to go back for. We don't have much room in our apartment for it, but we definitely will once we have a house.
We are going to try it out in our kitchen in the apartment first though to see if it works in there, space wise. If it doesn't, we'll store it at Bob's parents' house until we have a house. I posted a picture below of the table.
After we went to the antique store, we picked up a cake for Bob's dads' birthday, and then went over his parents' house to celebrate. We made a stop at the grocery store on the way home, and finally got back around 8:30. It wasn't that warm out yesterday (about 45 degrees), and it was cloudy and windy, but I was still glad to get out for the day, since we don't get to do that really in the winter. Once we get back from Vegas, I really hope spring is in full swing here, and that it's consistently warm out.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore yesterday. I posted about this dress back in February, when I received it. I've worn it a lot since then; just not to work, since it's not work appropriate with the liquor labels all over it, ha. I changed my bangle stack a bit this time, because I realized that my new seafoam Splendette bangles match the green in the dress. I'm definitely bringing this dress to Viva! It's not my typical full skirted dress style, but I do have two other TD Day dresses like this, with the straighter cut skirt.
