Red Honey

Hello there! Today I'll be doing cleaning, laundry, and working out. All the fun stuff, right? Ha. It's supposed to rain tonight and this weekend, so hopefully Bob and I can still go to an outdoor bar tomorrow, like we had planned. He's making me my favorite meal this weekend; tomato tart! I'm very much looking forward to it. It'll be our belated at home anniversary dinner. He makes it about one a month for me, and it's been a month now since I've had it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Trashy Diva red Honey dress. I love the Honey style on me, and was happy to add another one to my collection. This is my 4th, and my second solid color one. I also have a coral Honey, but it's made of satin, so I don't get to wear it much. I own a few solid red dresses, and many more printed dresses with red backgrounds. Red isn't my favorite color (although it's close!), but I gravitate towards it with dresses, and I have heard it's my "best" color. I got this dress for a good price on the Tradesy website, and it was the first time I had bought anything from that site. The person who I bought the dress from dress took awhile to ship it, I believe 4 days, but otherwise, it was a good experience.
Since this Honey is a solid red, I can pair it with a multitude of brooches and necklaces, which is always a bonus. I have so many printed dresses and skirts, but I also love the few solid color dresses I have. My accessories really shine when paired with them. I rarely wear my Honeys without a bandeau under them, because of all my dresses, they show the most bust. But, I do find them to be one of, if not the most flattering TD dress style on me. I don't wear them to work though, because even with a bandeau there's still a bit of cleavage. I always bring Honeys with me on vacation, and sometimes will wear them without a bandeau on vacation.

State Kelly

Hello there! Wow, it's beautiful out today! It's 75, sunny, and low humidity. It's going to be back up to 90 ish this weekend. I don't have too much going on this week so far. On Saturday night I think Bob and I will be going out in the late afternoon to an outdoor bar again, for a couple of drinks. I love taking advantage of the warm weather by sitting outside for drinks. I'm waiting to hear about 4th of July plans. My parents are having a family picnic at their house on Tuesday, but I've yet to find out what Bob's family is doing. At work, we have the option to take off next Monday or next Friday (in addition to Tuesday), and I believe I'm going to take next Friday off to spread out the days off.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter state print Kelly dress. This is one of my most worn dresses. I wear it to work often, and also when traveling. It's a perfect print to wear on an airplane and on a road trip! I don't have too many outfits that match the shade of blue that these heels are, but this dress is one of them. If you hadn't picked up on it by now, I LOVE to travel, and have been to about 35 states. I love exploring new places. My parents and sister also love to travel, and my parents took me and my sister somewhere every summer. One summer we flew to central California and drove from there to the top of Washington state, and took a ferry to British Columbia, Canada, and another summer we flew to Denver, and drove to New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah.

Red Fans Anne

Hello there! Well, it was supposed to rain this weekend, but it ended up being sunny & beautiful out. Yesterday I stayed home most of the day and night, and did some cleaning, laundry, working out, outfit pictures, reading, etc. Bob and I did go out to a bar in town at night, for a couple of anniversary drinks (our anniversary was Wednesday). Today I'll also be mostly home again, just going to be running a couple of errands also. It's nice to have a quieter weekend after having some busy ones recently. Bob also wanted to stay home because he had quite a stressful week.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Red Fans Anne dres that I got a year ago. I love beautiful Asian prints, and Trashy Diva releases a good amount of them. List most (or possibly all) of Trashy Diva's prints, they are vintage reproductions. Sometimes they will change the colors in the prints from that of the original vintage design, but otherwise, keep the print the same. I think that's so neat! Retrspec'd also does exact vintage reproductions.
I also have this dress in a 3/4 sleeve shirt dress style that I wear in cooler weather. I love the background shade of red; it's a different shade of red than the typical shades. The dress fabric is stretch cotton, and I think that is my very favorite TD fabric! It's so comfortable.
I hope they come out with more very soon!
I'm also wearing new BAIT heels in the pictures below. I LOVE them! They are the Hansel style, and the color is aqua blue. I received them this week. They're pretty comfy so far.
I love this shade of blue. I have one other pair of BATs in this shade.

My First.....Sarong!

Hello there! Tomorrow is Friday, finally! This week hasn't gone by too fast for me. Today was a nice short day for work though; my boss and co-worker picked me up in the town I live in, and we headed out to an auditing seminar about half an hour from where I live. We got there right before 9:00 a.m., and left right after noon! So, I got home around 12:45 p.m. My boss is nice, and didn't make my co-worker or me go back to work, although she did, because she didn't want to miss a meeting.
Since I've been home I worked out, ran an errand, and have been watching "The Keepers" on Netflix. It's a documentary about the murder of a Baltimore nun in 1969, and also about the connection between that and the rampant sexual abuse by a priest (as well as other men the priest brought in to the school) who worked at the school the nun had been working at. It's an engrossing show, but it's VERY maddening, especially because it's a true story.
It enrages me to hear all about the cover up by the Catholic Church, as well as the Baltimore Police. I believe that people who cover up for pedophiles are also guilty of sexual abuse, because not only did they not get justice for the person/people who came forward and made complaints, but by not convicting the person/people repsonsible, they also ALLOWED future abuse to happen. UGH!! It's completly horrifying. This documentary reminds me of the movie "Spotlight", which was great, but also a true story about the Catholic Church, and very maddening.
Anyway! On to cherrier subjects. In the pictures below I'm wearing my very first sarong!
I love sarongs, but had never tried one before. I wasn't sure if it'd work on my body type, since I already knew sarongs look especially amazing on pear shaped ladies (which I am not), but wasn't convinced they'd be flattering on me.  I was able to score my current most sought after Trashy Diva print, in a sarong style. I had been hoping to find it another style, but I took what I could get! This print is called Pearl Harbor, and is one of their most sought after and rare prints. I obtained it in a trade, and I popped it on as soon as it arrived last Friday.
I LOVED it on! I find it to be quite flattering. I was also happy to see that my new Re-Mix heels match the dress really well. I wore the dress ALL last weekend, ha. I didn't want to take it off! Did I mention it's comfy, too?!

Nashville, Part I

Hello there! Well, I've been back from Nashville for close to a month, and still haven't written about it, so I'd say I'm overdue! In this post I'm going to write about the beginning of the trip. We got in to Nashville on a Wednesday night, around 11:00 p.m. Our flight got in on time, and the Uber ride from the airport was only about fifteen minutes to our hotel. After we checked in, we walked over to Nashville Palace, which was less than a five minute walk away. We stayed there later than we had planned on being out, until about 2:00 a.m.
We watched a country band play covers, and they were really good. They had a male singer, and he was really talented, but they also had a woman come up and sing a song, and she was impressive, too. We went right to bed after we walked back to the hotel.
The next day was the first day of Nashville Boogie. The bands weren't really starting until the early evening, so Bob and I picked up my sister's car that morning (she was away while we were in Nashville), and we drove over to Broadway, which is the main touristy area of Nashville, with lots of honky tonks on both sides of the street. There's also some restaurants and little shops, but mostly junky souvenir shops. We grabbed burgers for lunch at Acme Feed & Seed, which was a place I had on my list of restaurants to check out. I thought their food was decent, but Bob wasn't impressed. After exploring the Broadway area (and some side streets), we headed back towards our hotel. We went to a couple of antique malls, and went to the Palace to pick up our wristbands for the Boogie. We freshened up in our hotel room, and then went back to the Palace to listen to some music.
We ran into Cindy and her husband twice that afternoon; they own the shop Grease Rags Clothing in Florida. I had ordered from her before, and talked to her online, but had never met her in person before. She was very sweet and outgoing in person, and her husband was nice as well, and I'm glad I got to meet them and hang out with them a bit.
My friend Sara and her boyfriend, Cody, got into Nashville in the morning, and we first met up with them around 5:00 that evening, for dinner at the Palace. It was so nice to see her again; it had been a year! We had dinner with them, and then they took off to do their own thing, and we went over to the other side of the Palace, to see the Delta Bombers (there are two stages in the Palace, and both stages were being used at the same time during the Boogie).
It was our second time seeing the Delta Bombers; we had seen them a year previously at Viva, but at that time we knew nothing about them. Bob liked the set, and bought a CD at Viva, so he was the one who was more into them at first. But over the past few months, I really began to listen to them, and now they are my favorite rockabilly band! I was so excited to see them; they were the highlight of the Boogie for me. Their show was fantastic, as expected, and I got to meet Chris, the singer, and he hugged me!
After seeing DB, we went to our room to get ready to meet Sara & Cody over at Opryland Resort, where they were staying, and where some of the Boogie music and events was taking place. Bob & I stayed at Opryland Resort Friday & Saturday nights during our trip, too.
We met them at a bar in the hotel, and hung out there for a couple of hours or so, and then we headed back to our hotel to go to bed. Even though the Boogie events were being held in two locations, they had a great shuttle service between the two. The shuttle was always there waiting, when we were trying to get from one place to another, and it's only a five minutes drive. So, the servie was great.
On Friday Bob & I met Sara in the morning to go to the vendors & car show. When I first saw Sara, I couldn't believe it; we were both wearing strawberry outfits, ha!! It really was unplanned. First, of course, we had to go to the vendors, ha. There weren't nearly as many vendors are I thought/hoped there'd be. But, Sara got a lot of cheap vintage dresses, which was great for her! I got a few small things, like a couple of dish towels with super cute prints and a Boogie T shirt. I ended up going back to the vendors the next day too, and found a couple more things. We walked around the car show, which was pretty small, too. There were probably less than 100 cars, whereas Viva had almost 900. We watched Lara Hope & The Arktones play at 1:00, and they were playing in the same room that the vendors & car show were in, just behind a partition. They were another band I had on my list to see, and we had never seen them before. They were really good! Lara has such a strong, sassy voice. Sara took me over to their merch table later on (I was nervous to go meet them), and I met Lara and had her and a band member sign the CD I bought.
After we watched them play, we stayed there to see the Pinup Contest. My friend Cindy was in it (the Cindy I met the previous day), and she looked stunning! We grabbed lunch at Jack Daniels in the Opryland after the contest, and Cody met us there. We went back to our hotel after that for a bit, and met Sara & Cody later on, and took an Uber over to Broadway to go out that night. It was quite crowded, as we expected it to be, being a Friday night. First we went to a dueling piano bar, and I had never been to one before. I knew my sister is a big fan of dueling piano bars, so I had heard about them. It was fun, and we stayed there a bit, before moving on. It was pretty packed everywhere we went, and our last stop we went to was on a side street, and called Stillery. We sat at a table there and got some (late) dinner, too. Their mac & cheese was good, and I loved the drink I had. It was so sweet, and tasted just like a creamsicle!
Well, that's enough for now. More on Nashville coming soon.

Big Band Bows Jaclyn

Hello there! This week has been a scorcher! It was almost 100 on Monday & Tuesday. I sit in my car on my lunch break, but it's been difficult this week, because by the time I get to the parking lot where I sit in my car, my air conditioning isn't working yet (I'd have to drive farther to get it to work). So, I've been coming back to work a bit sweaty, ha. I wish I lived closer to the ocean; I'd love to take a dip right now!
Tomorrow I'll be meeting some of my former co-workers for dinner & drinks, for our monthly get together. Sunday I'll be going to my parent's house to celebrate Father's Day, and Saturday Bob & I may go to an outdoor bar, if weather permits.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Jaclyn Big Band Bows dress. I believe this is the only Jaclyn dress Trashy Diva ever made, and I don't know why! It's such a cute and flattering style. I got it a couple months or so ago from a member of DSTD, the TD Facebook group I'm in. I wear it quite frequently, and it's perfect for work, since it has a high neckline.
I had been looking for this dress for years, but it's a very hard dress to find, so I was so excited when I finally got my hands on it! I love the bright shade of blue that the heels I'm wearing here are, and they match the blue in the dress so well.

Country Life

Hello there! Well, it finally feels like June here! It was cooler than normal for the most part, since the end of April. April felt more like spring than May did! Today got up to about 85 degrees, and was sunny all day (still is), and I'm loving it! Tomorrow through Tuesday it's supposed to be in the low 90's. Today I met up with my friend for lunch at Panera, and got to give her her birthday card & gift (her bday is Tuesday).
I also did some cleaning & laundry at home, and in the afternoon went to a brew pub with Bob to sit at the outdoor bar and have some drinks. It's about fifteen minutes from us, and I've been waiting since September to go back! Obviously the outdoor bar is only open when it's nice/warm out. While we there, we got a couple of small appetizers, and I really like the one that we got: spinach flat bread. We also saw a bear while we were there! It was across the street in someone's driveway, and it was fairly small; it was probably a baby.
Tomorrow Bob and I will be going to his parents' house in the afternoon; two of his aunts and uncle from West Virginia will be over, and his dad is cooking dinner for all of us. Bob hasn't seen his WV kin in awhile, so I know he's really looking forward to it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd Country Life Connie dress. I have three Retrospec'd dresses in this very comfortable style. I wear them to work a lot. I love to pair my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch with this dress; it just seems to go well with the country theme. I didn't wear this outfit today, but it would've been appropriate, considering I saw a bear today! Oh, the joys of country livin'.

Red Water Lillies 1940's

Hello there! Today's been a pretty quiet week so far, but I have some plans over the next four days. Tomorrow Bob and I are visiting my grandmother, Friday we are meeting with our bank (about a mortgage), Saturday I'm meeting a friend for lunch and also going to an outdoor bar with Bob, and Sunday afternoon we're going to Bob's parents' house for dinner (two of his aunts and uncle will be there, they are visiting from West Virginia).
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me Trashy Diva Red Water Lilies 1940's dress. I already had this print in the Day dress, and have blogged about that dress before, but I love this print SO much, that I also wanted it in this style. I looked for this dress for a long time, and finally someone in the TD Facebook group I'm in said she had one new with tags in my size that she'd sell me! This is my second 1940's dress, and I am really falling in love with this style. My first one I got recently, around March, and that one is in the Berry Chantilly print. I very rarely buy more than one piece in the same print, but I do make the occassional exception.

I'm wearing my new Re-Mix Vintage shoes in the pictures below that I blogged about a week or so ago. I'm glad these shoes match my Red Water Lilies print TD dresses so well. The heels are too high for me to wear them to work, but so far they have been very comfortable, in spite of their height.

Turquoise Birds

Hello there! Yesterday I had a fun day; I went to yard sales and an antique shop with my mom in the morning, and then in the afternoon went to New Hope with Bob. I didn't find anything at the yard sales, but I did a piece of Pyrex for $6 at the antique shop! It's a yellow medium sized fridgie. I actually already had one in the same size and color, but I can use both for display, or I can actually use one in the kitchen, and display one. It's in good condition too, but came without the lid. If I want to, I can always buy a lid for cheap on Etsy or eBay. The weather started out crappy; dreary, drizzling, and cool out. But, it quickly warmed up, and turned into a really sunny and beautiful day.
Bob and I have been trying to go to New Hope since April, but every time we were going to go, it would rain. We were talking about going next Saturday, but when I saw how nice it was supposed to be yesterday, I told him I didn't want to risk not going yesterday, and then having it end up raining next Saturday. We had at late lunch when we got there, and sat outside on a restaurant patio to eat. My favorite part about New Hope is having a meal & drinks outside. The drive there is also so pretty, we drive through a lot of small towns, with mountains, farms, and rivers on the way. After we ate, we walked around, and went in a shop that sells vintage clothes, among other things. I didn't find anything there, but it's a fun shop. We ended up at an outdoor bar where I had a drink (Bob wasn't feeling that great yesterday), and after that I got ice cream, and then we headed out.
I wore my new to me Trashy Diva turquoise birds Lupe dress yesterday. I just received it from a trade. I had never tried the Lupe style before, and was a bit apprehensive about it fitting me right and being flattering, but to my surprise, it's perfect! It fits me very well everywhere, and is flattering. I once had this print before in the Sweetie style, but it never fit my bust, so I didn't keep it. This print was my #1 TD unicorn, after I got the rockets and FQ print last year. I'm glad to finally have it! I'm going to wear the heck out of it this summer.
It's obviously best suited for summer, but I'll be extending that by wear it into early fall and also in late spring. I like the pretty detail at the neckline, too.
