Another New Orleans Post!

Hello there! I still have more pictures to post from New Orleans! All the pictures in this post were taken there. The yellow dress I'm wearing in some of the pictures I got from Trashy Diva in New Orleans. The picture of me posing with a statue, the statue is Ignatius J. Reilly, the main character and narrator of my favourite book: "A Confederacy of Dunces." The book takes place in New Orleans, and the author is from New Orleans. He died before any of his books were published; he committed suicide in his early thirties. "A Confederacy of Dunces" won the Pulitzer Prize posthumously! It is a truly hilarious book, and I would highly recommend it to any adult! From my recommendation two of my friends and my husband read it. They all thought it was quite funny.
Now, I haven't yet talked about the food in New Orleans. My favourite food there was the Po' Boys. They are basically sub sandwiches/hoagies. But, the bread they are on is soooo delicious! It's thick, big French bread. There are so many different types of Po Boys. Most restaurants we went to had at least a couple types to chose from, and some places had dozens of kinds. We tried Johnny's Po Boys towards the end of the trip. It's one of the most famous places for Po Boys. It's small inside, and not too attractive or updated, but that doesn't matter because the Po Boys are amazing!! It was definitely my favourite place for them! I wish we had tried it earlier in the trip. They are also on the cheap side! The address is: 511 Saint Louis Street, French Quarter. At Johhny's I had the cheese Po Boy and the tuna Po Boy.
I also had a turkey and cheese Po Boy at Market Cafe, twice. That place is also really good! It's pricier than Johhny's, but it's not expensive. The first time we went there Bob had an alligator sausage Po Boy! I tried a bite of it, even though I do NOT like sausage. It was okay, ha. I would never order it, myelf. He liked it though. The address is: 1000 Decatur St. It's close to the French Market. You can dine inside or out there.
The French Market is a must see! There are a lot of vendors there, selling all sorts of things. There is art, junky souvenirs, food booths, hand painted trinkets, jewelry, etc. I loved going there. I went two days. It's open seven days a week.
As I expected, most places there had a lot of seafood items. I am not big on seafood, to say the least. I love tuna sandwiches, but other than that I almost never eat seafood. Bob loves some seafood. He had a decent amount of it during the course of the trip. The only seafood I ordered was a crab cake appetizer, ha. If you don't like seafood, don't worry, there are tons of other options.
There's a dive place called Coop's Place, at: 1109 Decatur St. Bob had heard it was a great place to eat. I just got a grilled chicken sandwich there, but it was quite good. He loved what he ordered; he got jambalaya. The place isn't that nice inside, and I didn't like how we were seated. We were seated at one long table with other couples right next to us. I didn't feel comfortable really talking to Bob about much, because the other couples could easily hear everything we said.

Minnie Mouse

Hello there! Ahhh I am so glad that it is Friday & that the work week is now over! When I first woke up this morning I thought it was Saturday. That was rough! Tonight Bob and I are meeting my dad and grandmother at Friendly's for dinner. Then we are stopping my grandmother/great uncle's house to see my great uncle. Then I'm going to Target, and then going back to the apartment to have drinks and relax!!
Tomorrow Bob and I are going to spend the day in New Hope! Can't wait for that. We haven't been in a year! That's the longest we've gone without going there, since we started going there together. He first took me there in the very beginning of our relationship, about 5 1/2 years ago. New Hope is such a cute, artsy town. There's a lot of nice little stores and restaurants.
I'm calling this blog post "Minnie Mouse", because that's what Bob calls me when he sees me in this dress, ha! This dress was my first Hell Bunny item! My mom got it me this past Christmas. (I had picked it out.) I loved it, and was hooked from then on, ha. Hell Bunny has so many cute, retro-style pieces. Their clothing material tends to be on the thin side, but that's alright. Their prices are pretty good, too.

Harlequin Blues

Hello there! After work today I met up with three ladies I used to work with a couple jobs ago. It was nice to catch up a bit. I'm meeting up with a good friend tomorrow after work, too. We're getting a drink in town. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She went to Ireland the week after the wedding! I can't wait to hear all about it. I would loveeee to go Ireland! It's near the top of my list of places I want to go.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Pin Up Girl Clothing Jenny dress. I have three of them now, and adore them. They have boning in the top and adjustable straps, with a nice full skirt. They are thick material, too. These pictures of me were taken in our hotel room in New Orleans. 
The pictures after the ones of me were taken at the restaurant G.W. Fins in New Orleans. We were given a certificate to there from my bosses. It was so nice! It was pretty fancy. Bob and I normally never go to fancy/expensive restaurants. So, it was nice to go for once. The food was really good. They gave us the dessert for free because they knew it was our honeymoon! The dessert was a chocolate lava cake. Amazing! And it was nice that Bob dressed up! Normally I always look even more over-dressed standing next to him.
I'm such a picky eater though. So, even though they most have fish on their menu, I got chicken, ha. I did get a crab cake appetizer!

A Space-y Outfit

Hello there! Today I'm not doing too much, which is typical for me on Sundays. I love my relaxing Sundays! I'm going to work out, read, write thank you notes, run to Kohl's, and justwatch "The Sopranos" with Bob and relax on the couch. (I was going to go to Kohl's yesterday, but didn't end up doing it because we went to a party a lot earlier than I thought we were going.) Bob's making Tomato Tart for dinner tonight; it's one of my fav meals!! It's very similar to pizza, and pizza happens to be my fav food.
I wore the same dress & bolero to the party that I'm wearing in the pictures below. I got this dress & bolero at Trashy Diva in New Orleans. The sales girl suggested I try the dress on, and I absolutely LOVED it as soon as I had it on! I loved it more than the dresses I had originally chosen to try on. The fit was amazing, and flattering. And I love wearing red! But, what I love even more than just the dress, is this bolero paired with the dress. I didn't even notice the bolero in the store, but the one sales girl was wearing it! And I asked if there were any left. There were only three left, and they were half off! Even better. I hoped that one would fit me, and the first one I tried was tight on the chest, but luckily they had a size up. This one is still a little tight, but I'm used to that, ha. 
I had seen this rocket print on a Trashy Diva dress online, in some blog posts and Instagram pics. I loved it, but when I looked for it online there weren't any left. So, I was so glad I could get a bolero of the same print! And maybe someday I'll find the dress on eBay. I hate that, when I discover a brand and really love an item or items, and the can't find them anywhere, because I discovered it too late!
In the first picture below I'm holding a White Russian drink. I hadn't had one in a long time, but one night at the Carousel Bar, it just popped into my head that I should get one. So, I did it & it was soooo good! So, the rest of the times that we went to the Carousel Bar, I ordered at least one. (My usual drink is Vodka Cran.) The Carousel Bar drinks were a little pricey, but it's great ambiance and the drinks are really good. It's a very popular place. It can be hard to get seats at the Carousel. There are some tables around the Carousel though, but even those are usually all or almost all full. But, it is a must-see in New Orleans!

Rainbow Circles

Hello there! I'm so glad it's the weekend! Last night I went to Panera, Target, and the bank. I hadn't been to Panera in awhile! Well, awhile for me anyway ha. Not since before the wedding. I got Broccoli Cheddar soup, as usual. It doesn't bother me to eat soup when it's hot out, ha. After I ran my errands Bob and I just stayed in, and watched more of "The Sopranos."
I started writing thank you notes for the wedding a few days ago, but I still have a lot more to do. So, hopefully I'll get more of those done this weekend. Tonight Bob and I are going to a party at a friend's for two friend's 30th birthdays. It's only 5 minutes from where we live. I made a Funfetti cake, and Bob's making a chicken dish. Otherwise today I'm cleaning the apartment, doing laundry, reading, and working out. I'm also running to Kohl's to return something, and check out the new Fiestaware colour: Poppy! I loveee Fiestaware, and got a ton of it at my bridal shower, and with gift cards I got from the shower. Kohl's has a big selection, even bigger online. The new Poppy colour came out in June, and I haven't had a chance to check it out in person yet. And I still have more money on gift cards to Kohl's & Macy*s!
In the pictures below I'm wearing a dress my mom made me a year ago. I adore the colourful, fun fabric! I keep wearing my oranges necklace from Luxulite. (An Etsy shop.) I love it so much. I'm fully addicted to buying Luxulite jewelry. This is only my third necklace from her though. I have I believe fourteen brooches though, ha. She has a lot more brooches for sale than necklaces. This is definitely my fav of the Luxulite necklaces I have.

A Honeymoon Post!

Hello there! So, I wanted to start writing more about our honeymoon to beautiful, lovely, historic New Orleans! It was my second time being in the city; I had gone when I was 14 on a Christian trip. So, on that trip I didn't see that much of the city, and I definitely didn't go near Bourbon Street! My husband, Bob had never been to NOLA before. Well, we did A LOT of eating, drinking, shopping, and walking! That definitely all took up the majority of our days & nights, ha. 
We also went to Mardi Gras World, which is a museum/warehouse filled with floats and props that have been in Mardi Gras parades. At Mardi Gras World they also make these props and floats, and we saw artists there working on next year's stuff! They start the day after Mardi Gras making props and floats for the next year! Pretty crazy. I think it would be amazing to go one year to Mardi Gras, but also really chaotic! I'm not a fan of huge crowds as it is, ha.
We went two of the most famous cemeteries there, as well; St. Louis #1 and #2. In St. Louis #1 there is Voodoo Queen  Marie Laveau's family tomb. She is the most famous Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. It's not been confirmed that her body is actually in the family tomb, though.The tombs are all above ground, because the ground is too saturated to bury bodies in. St. Louis #1 and #2 are quite old, and a lot of tombs are leaning and/or falling apart. We did see a few recent death dates on the stones though. Most of the tombs are family ones, with multiple bodies inside. We went to the cemeteries around 1:00 pm, and were there walking around about an hour. It was just so hot and humid that day (as it was pretty much all day/every day there) that I couldn't take any more. We had no protection, no shade. But, I got to take a lot of pictures there.
We took a half hour horse and carriage ride around the French Quarter, with a historical guide. That was a lot of fun and interesting! I would highly recommend doing that, as well as going to those cemeteries, and Mardi Gras World.
We went to Harrah's Casino too, for a couple of hours. I'm not really into gambling. I just gambled at a slot machine for a couple of minutes. Bob plays some slots, and also table games. He likes casinos a lot more than I do. But, it was great to be in blasting A.C. for awhile!!
