Red Doris

Hello there! Today I'll just be hanging at home. This coming Sunday Bob and I will be heading to Adamstown, PA to go antiquing. We went there together back in October; it was his first time there, and my first time going with him. I had been years ago as a child many times, when my parents dragged my sister and me there, ha. It's known as the "antique capital of the US". There are tons of antique malls there. The vendor I bought the necklace from in the pictures below, she is actually holding another fruity necklace for me, and I'm excited to pick it up from her. Our wedding anniversary is coming up on June 21, so we are going to Adamstown and the following weekend to NYC for the day, to celebrate.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new to me Trashy Diva Doris dress. It's my first dress in the Doris style. This dress hasn't been made in years, so it was hard to track down, but I finally did through the Trashy Diva Facebook group I'm in! It's a great basic dress, perfect for accessorizing to add some punch to it. I obviously am a huge fan of novelty prints, but I also like having some solid dresses, and most of my solid dresses are red. This taco wristlet is seriously the best! I used it yesterday when I went shopping in PA with my mom. Betsey Johnson makes the cutest purses/wristlets! I want the new avocado one, too, ha. The brooch I'm wearing in the pictures below is vintage; I got it yesterday at an antique mall.

Tomatoes & Tacos

Hello there! Bob and I had a nice time yesterday evening at my parent's house. My dad is at the Indy 500 right now, so it was just my grandparents and mom. When we left there, we went to an outside bar we had never been to before. I had been to this place before, but only the inside part (which is a bar and restaurant). I really like the outside bar. There was a lot of room, and it had a tropical feel. They also had games there, like corn hole and jenga with HUGE jenga blocks. When the weather is nice, I want to take as much advantage of it as possible, by spending time outdoors. Today's supposed to be beautiful out, and we're going to Bob's parents for a bbq, so I'll get to be outside all day.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore yesterday to run errands, go to my parent's, and then go out to the bar.  I got a lot of compliments on it. When I was in the bathroom at the bar, a couple of girls were complimenting me on my outfit, and one girl asked me where I find the things I wear, and then she told me she was in Nashville, and was in a shop that had vintage style clothing (probably Tatyana Boutique!). She said that "I rock the look", ha! When people see me in the area I live in, I think their first reaction is usually shock, because they've never seen "a look like mine" in person. When people just blatantly stare at me, and don't even say anything to me, I find it very annoying. But, I suppose there's nothing I can do about it, since I'm defintiely not going to change dressing this way, ha!

For The Record

Hello there! Wow, it's HOT out today! The hottest day we've had since last summer. It was about 86 degrees at the warmest, and the next four days will be 90! I'll take 90 over 20 degrees, ANY TIME. I'm just so excited that summer (and my anniversary!) is so very close. May has really flown by, and I'm also just as excited for this three day weekend! I can't wait to be outside and enjoy the hot weather, and eat BBQ food. Saturday night we're going to my parent's house and my grandparents will also be there. After we leave my parents, Bob and I are going to an outdoor bar, which I'm really looking forward to. We've never been to this one before. I'm not sure yet if we're doing anything Sunday, but we may see Bob's family. Monday we are definitetly just staying home and enjoying the extra day off!
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new Bernie Dexter dress. The dress just came out, and I ordered it immediately. The print is so fun! I have a few skirts and dresses now with simila 1950's/sock hop type prints on them. I actually already had this same print, but in a Modcloth dress that I'm now going to sell. The Modcloth dress was a lot shorter, and didn't have a full skirt, so I can definitely like this style better.
The Betsey Johnson taco wristlet is also new. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, particularly tacos, so this is quite appropriate for me, ha. I'm a huge fan of Betsey Johnsons' wristlet/clutches. She uses the cutest food designs!! I already have a gumball machine one and an ice cream cone.

Blue & Orange

Hello there! I'm just getting ready to head out the door to go to Bethlehem, PA with Bob. It's supposed to be 70 degrees there today!! Ah, it just doesn't get better than 7o in December!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Pin Up Girl Clothing Heidi dress. I ordered it from Retro Glam during their Black Friday sale. I had been considering getting this dress for over a year. It was sold out in my size for a long time on the PUG site, and when Black Friday came around, I remembered to check Retro Glam. I got it for a steal: $55, including shipping (from Canada)! I have the PUG Harley dress in this same shade of blue, and I am just in love with this blue. It's so bright and vivid, and pairs so well with pops of bright orange. Since the outfit screams bright, I also paired it with my Betsey Johnson gumball machine purse. I have owned a Heidi once before, but ended up selling it. I think it's safe to say I won't be selling this one!

Nesting Dolls Tatyana Dress

Hello there! Today Bob and I are just going to relax at home; I'm going to work out, read, and watch TV. Oh yea, I'm also going to begin packing, since we're going away this week to New Orleans! I kind of can't believe it's so soon, but that may be because we booked it only a month ahead of time, so I didn't have too much time to countdown to it! Tomorrow night we are going to my grandmother's, and meeting my dad there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Tatyana nesting dolls dress! I received it yesterday; I had ordered it from eBay. This is my first Tatyana brand item that I've bought. I had been eyeing this dress for about five months, and finally decided to take the plunge. I really like the shape of the dress; it's similar to Pin Up Girl Clothing Jenny dresses, except there's no boning in the top part. I love how full the skirt is. The material isn't as thick as Jenny dresses, but I still like the material. The print is vibrant and adorable! Part of the reason I debated ordering it for so long, is because in some pictures I saw of it, the print looked too dark for me, but in others it didn't. I was happy to find that the print is bright. I could've worn a size down in the waist, and probably could've squeezed my chest into a size smaller, too. I didn't want to have to return it though, and it's nice to have some extra room all over, plus with the belt, no one can tell it's big. This is another great novelty print to have in my wardrobe!

Mellow Yellow

Hello there! Not too much going on today, I'm going to work out, read, and relax. I listed a couple more items on eBay (bristolp15 is my eBay shop), and I'm ordering more wedding pictures! I ordered a wedding photo albulm yesterday, so I'm excited to put the pictures in it. I already have a lot of pictures framed in our apartment.
I'm also going to watch the Oscars pre-show tonight, and probably most of the Oscars themselves. Bob is out plowing. He woke up at 6 a.m. to go out, and probably won't be back until the early afternoon.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Trashy Diva Varga dress. I also have it in red. I bought them both when Bob and I were in New Orleans last Summer for our honeymoon. I don't often wear paler shades of colour, like the shade of this dress, but it can be pretty difficult to find brighter yellow dresses in the style I like.

Another New Orleans Post!

Hello there! I still have more pictures to post from New Orleans! All the pictures in this post were taken there. The yellow dress I'm wearing in some of the pictures I got from Trashy Diva in New Orleans. The picture of me posing with a statue, the statue is Ignatius J. Reilly, the main character and narrator of my favourite book: "A Confederacy of Dunces." The book takes place in New Orleans, and the author is from New Orleans. He died before any of his books were published; he committed suicide in his early thirties. "A Confederacy of Dunces" won the Pulitzer Prize posthumously! It is a truly hilarious book, and I would highly recommend it to any adult! From my recommendation two of my friends and my husband read it. They all thought it was quite funny.
Now, I haven't yet talked about the food in New Orleans. My favourite food there was the Po' Boys. They are basically sub sandwiches/hoagies. But, the bread they are on is soooo delicious! It's thick, big French bread. There are so many different types of Po Boys. Most restaurants we went to had at least a couple types to chose from, and some places had dozens of kinds. We tried Johnny's Po Boys towards the end of the trip. It's one of the most famous places for Po Boys. It's small inside, and not too attractive or updated, but that doesn't matter because the Po Boys are amazing!! It was definitely my favourite place for them! I wish we had tried it earlier in the trip. They are also on the cheap side! The address is: 511 Saint Louis Street, French Quarter. At Johhny's I had the cheese Po Boy and the tuna Po Boy.
I also had a turkey and cheese Po Boy at Market Cafe, twice. That place is also really good! It's pricier than Johhny's, but it's not expensive. The first time we went there Bob had an alligator sausage Po Boy! I tried a bite of it, even though I do NOT like sausage. It was okay, ha. I would never order it, myelf. He liked it though. The address is: 1000 Decatur St. It's close to the French Market. You can dine inside or out there.
The French Market is a must see! There are a lot of vendors there, selling all sorts of things. There is art, junky souvenirs, food booths, hand painted trinkets, jewelry, etc. I loved going there. I went two days. It's open seven days a week.
As I expected, most places there had a lot of seafood items. I am not big on seafood, to say the least. I love tuna sandwiches, but other than that I almost never eat seafood. Bob loves some seafood. He had a decent amount of it during the course of the trip. The only seafood I ordered was a crab cake appetizer, ha. If you don't like seafood, don't worry, there are tons of other options.
There's a dive place called Coop's Place, at: 1109 Decatur St. Bob had heard it was a great place to eat. I just got a grilled chicken sandwich there, but it was quite good. He loved what he ordered; he got jambalaya. The place isn't that nice inside, and I didn't like how we were seated. We were seated at one long table with other couples right next to us. I didn't feel comfortable really talking to Bob about much, because the other couples could easily hear everything we said.

Debut Of My Ice Cream Cone Wristlet

Hello there! It's so nice to write this in my apartment, with the sun streaming through the windows. It's going to be in the fifties today! We keep going back and forth, with the cold weather, and warmer weather. But, thank god we still haven't gotten any snow this month!! Makes me very happy. I really hope we have NO more until next winter! (Well, if I had it my way we'd NEVER have any more snow lol.)  It's so warm in my apartment, even though the heat is off, and I have windows open. The birds are chirping, too.
Today Bob and his groomsmen are going to get fitted for tuxedos, and Bob is looking for shoes to rent as well. They're going out to some bars in a nearby town afterwards. I'm sure it'll be packed everywhere, even though they're arriving in the early afternoon. (Because of St. Patrick's day weekend!)
Last night Bob and I went out to a bar. I really stand out when I go to this bar, because it's such a redneck bar, and everyone's wearing faded jeans...flannel shirt...trucker hats, and the like, ha! And then there's me, wearing a dress and heels. But, I don't care! If I didn't dress the way I dress, I wouldn't feel as happy. What I wear makes me feel good, and happy, and I'm not going to change it based on my surroundings. Also, last night I debuted my ice cream Betsey Johnson wristlet! I already got compliments on it. I knew it would be an attention-getter ha. A middle aged guy with a ponytail was talking to me about it. That was interesting! The wristlet really can't hold much at all..but, I will glady deal with that, because it is just the cutest thing!
Below are pictures of my outfit that I wore out last night. I've posted several times on my blog, with pictures of this dress. It's absolutely one of my favourite dresses, and one of my favourite purchases ever! I wasn't sure about it for months, debated ordering it. But, once it arrived, and I put it on, it cast all my doubts completly aside! I had to take a picture with it on, underneath my Keep Calm And Eat Cupcakes poster.
