"I, I Love The Colourful Clothes She Wears"

Hello there! It's been quite the gloomy weekend, weather wise. I can't really complain though, since I don't think we had a bad weather weekend all summer. Yesterday I went out to Pennsylvania with my mom and aunt, to go shopping for holiday decorations. I go out there twice a year with my mom. We go to a couple different towns, and the farthest one is two and a half hours away. It's worth it though, because there are no shops around here that sell really neat holiday decorations. I really scored this time, too. My mom was very kind and bought me a lot of it. I got five new Stamm House Halloween pieces, a Halloween feather tree & four ornaments for it, and one Stamm House Easter piece, and one Stamm House Christmas piece. My favourite piece is the one that's a pumpkin with a cat coming out the top of it. My aunt & mom also got that one.
Last night Bob and I watched "Love & Mercy", about Brian Wilson's life. (He was the lead singer of The Beach Boys). I really enjoyed it, and I just love The Beach Boys's music. That's where the title of my blog post comes from, if you didn't figure it out, ha. It's the first line from "Good Vibrations", and is pretty perfect for me!!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Little Red Riding Hood print dress that I bought in New Orleans. The brand is Retrolicious. This print is so adorable, and I love the colours used in it. I don't like the colour gray, but there's so many colours in it, that I don't mind that the background is gray. Also in the pictures below is my new sprinkle wood die cut sign that is now hanging on my kitchen wall. I was so excited to receive it in the mail! It's now my favourite piece on my wall. It's just so perfect for me. Everyday is a Holiday is an amazing husband and wife team that made that piece, as well as a few other pieces I have on my kitchen wall (like the ice cream cone). They are so talented, and their aesthetic suits me and my style so well! They're also located right here in New Jersey, which is neat.
The last two pictures below are showing the Halloween items I got yesterday. Speaking of aesthetic, the Stamm's aesthetic (the husband and wife team who make the pieces in the first picture of the Halloween items below) also suits me very well. They make excellent German inspired vintage reproduction pieces. I have a good size collection now of Easter, Christmas & Halloween items. They are also reasonably priced, which is great. I'm so happy I found out about such wonderful local artists, who make such gorgeous, unique pieces. I've never seen any other current artists who make pieces close to theirs. My mom has been buying from the Stamms for a long time now, so she introduced me to them, and I started going out with her to their shop about two years ago.

New Orleans, Part I

Hello there! Bob and I got back from New Orleans on Sunday night. We had a great, fun, short trip! We were only there for three full days. We got to the hotel Wednesday night around 10:00 p.m., and then left early Sunday morning. The weather was hot and humid, as we expected. It wasn't much worse than it had been back in New Jersey, though. It was 90 degrees again today in NJ. It did rain a bit a couple of days, and I got caught in it (forgot my umbrella at home) when I went out shopping Thursday morning (my husband was sleeping still). Luckily, it didn't last long at all. I found some really cute clothes! I scored two Retrolicious dresses at a store called Wicked on Decatur Street. They both have such adorable novelty prints! One has rainbows and unicorns, and one has a Little Red Riding Hood print. (They are pictured below.) I wore the unicorn and rainbows dress out one day, and have never had so many people compliment me on a piece of clothing before!! A lot of people asked where I got it from, and said they were going to the store to get it. The print really reminds me of Lisa Frank's prints. I had a few items as a child with her rainbow and unicorn print, and it was my favorite of all of hers.
I of course went to Trashy Diva a couple of times. I didn't get any dresses there, which I figured would happen, since I had just recently ordered two dresses from their website. I didn't want to wait until we got down there, in case they were sold out in my size, and also ordering them ahead of time, I didn't have to pay sales tax! New Orleans clothing tax is I believe 9%. New Jersey doesn't have tax on clothing. I did buy two cropped tops there (to wear tucked into high waisted skirts), two cropped cardigans, and a strawberry purse.
In one of the pictures below I'm standing next to a girl in a gingham outfit. She works at one of the Trashy Diva stores, and she recognized me from the TD Facebook group I'm in. She is SO sweet! We talked for awhile, and she had another girl who works in the office come and take pictures of me outside in the courtyard. Another girl who works at a different TD store recognized me, and she was also really sweet.
We went to three tiki bars during the trip. Two of them were only a block away from our hotel, and were right next door to each other. We liked those two the best, and went to each of them twice. We bought 4 tiki cups and one tiki shot glasses. My favorite of them is the pineapple tiki cup, pictured below. So darn cute!!

Nesting Dolls Tatyana Dress

Hello there! Today Bob and I are just going to relax at home; I'm going to work out, read, and watch TV. Oh yea, I'm also going to begin packing, since we're going away this week to New Orleans! I kind of can't believe it's so soon, but that may be because we booked it only a month ahead of time, so I didn't have too much time to countdown to it! Tomorrow night we are going to my grandmother's, and meeting my dad there.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Tatyana nesting dolls dress! I received it yesterday; I had ordered it from eBay. This is my first Tatyana brand item that I've bought. I had been eyeing this dress for about five months, and finally decided to take the plunge. I really like the shape of the dress; it's similar to Pin Up Girl Clothing Jenny dresses, except there's no boning in the top part. I love how full the skirt is. The material isn't as thick as Jenny dresses, but I still like the material. The print is vibrant and adorable! Part of the reason I debated ordering it for so long, is because in some pictures I saw of it, the print looked too dark for me, but in others it didn't. I was happy to find that the print is bright. I could've worn a size down in the waist, and probably could've squeezed my chest into a size smaller, too. I didn't want to have to return it though, and it's nice to have some extra room all over, plus with the belt, no one can tell it's big. This is another great novelty print to have in my wardrobe!

Saturday Stars

Hello there! Last night I went to Panera with my good friend, and afterwards my mom came over to visit Bob & me, and then Bob & I went to Target. It was busier night than I'm used to, ha! This weekend will be pretty quiet for us, though.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Heart of Haute dress that came in the beginning of the week. I really LOVE the print! I wasn't sure in person what the colors would be like, and how big the stars would be, but both are just perfect. I love how the pink, orange, and yellow stars look against the teal background. This is also my first Heart of Haute dress in this style. I love the shape of the dress, and would definitely but this in different colors. There's none on the website right now that I have to have, but they are coming out with new harlequin prints in a couple months or so, that I really want. There is a cat print that's on pre-order now, and won't ship until November. I do want the red skirt with cats on the bottom of it, but I'm not going to order it now.
When I was at Wal*Mart Wednesday night, a woman who worked there came up to me, and was raving about my shoes. I was wearing the same pink Iones that I'm wearing in these pictures. It's funny to see the reactions I get from things that I'm wearing. I haven't seen anyone in my area who dresses anything like me, so I definitely "stand out". I am a naturally shy person, so, it's not comfortable for me to be stared at/get attention in public. It's fine if someone compliments me on something I'm wearing, but sometimes people are just weird about it, or just stare, and not say anything, or they'll say something loud enough for me to hear, but say it to the person they're with, and not actually to me.

A Dress Fit For A Picnic

Hello there! This week has been going pretty slowly, unfortunately. We are going to New Orleans for part of next week, and I'm so very excited for that!! Time always slows down before vacation, it's just a fact. I've of course been thinking about what clothing/shoes/accessories I'll be packing for quite awhile now, ha. It'll mostly be Trashy Diva clothing. The only Trashy Diva stores are in New Orleans, and I can't wait to shop there.
This Friday I'm meeting my good friend for dinner at Panera, and then my mom is coming over to visit Bob and I. We haven't seen my parents since before they left on their vacation at the beginning of the month.
I had a terrific mail day yesterday. I received my two new red gingham Trashy Diva dresses, as well as a Heart of Haute dress, and ice cream cone earrings. Luckily, all three dresses fit me pretty great. In the pictures below I'm wearing the Lena Picnic dress. I like it the best on me out of the three. I think it's especially flattering on my stomach area, which is always a bonus! I wasn't sure how my chest would fit, since that's usually an issue with any dress, but it fits well up there. There's a little room in the waist, due to the smocking on the side, but it's not huge or anything there. I ordered this dress and the other TD one I received in the larger size of the two I normally order, because I wanted to make sure the chest would fit. I could possibly have sized down in the other dress, but I can't in this one, because the chest fits just right in it.I love the gingham accents and white ribbon and flowers on the bottom. This is probaby one of my favourite TD dresses! When it's cooler out, I can just add a cropped white cardigan. But, right now it's very hot, so this dress is perfect as is for the weather.
I'm also wearing my new ice cream cone earrings in the pictures. They're smaller than I
thought they'd be, but super cute! I can't get enough of sweets polymer clay jewelry.

Rainbow Harlequin

Hello there! I'm so glad that the weekend is here, once again. I don't have a lot going on this weekend either, and once again, Bob is working on a Satuday. But, three Saturdays and two Sundays in September I already have plans for, so that'll be a nice change of pace. In the beginning of September Bob and I are going to New Orleans for a short trip. I'm extremly excited to go back to my favorite city. We'll only be there three full days and part of a night. But, it's better than nothing obviously. One good thing is, we know all the spots we want to hit, since we were there for ten days last time. We got to see a lot last time. There is at least one new place we'll be going to though; there's a new tiki bar/resturant that's opened up earlier this year.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my very favorite prints. I also have this print in a skirt. I wear them both frequently, and this color scheme is my favorite of all my harlequin prints. I didn't discover it until it was sold out on the Heart of Haute site, and they were pretty hard to track down, but I'm so glad I eventually found both in my size. It's such a bright, fun print, and it just makes me feel good when I'm wearing it! My Shoe Bakery ice cream flats match this dress really well, since there's a cream color and tan color in the dress.

Seahorses & A Milkshake

Hello there! Well, we are making progress, the work week is more than halfway over. Monday night I went out for a drink in town with my good friend, and it was nice to catch up with her. I usally see her about once a week. It's great having her live so close to me. We both moved out of our parent's house at the same time, to the same town (over three years ago now.) Tonight I'm going to relax with Bob at home. We are going to watch more  "3o Rock". We're re-watching the whole series now, on Netflix. We've see the whole series at least two other times before, but it never gets old! I still crack up all the time from it. It's seriously one of my favorite comedies ever! All of the main characters are hilarious, and so are a lot of the guest stars.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Hell Bunny sea horse dress. I just adore this print! It's so cute. It probably looks "childish" to a lot of people, but that's fine. I think it's a great print, and don't mind looking "childish". Some people might think a lot of my wardrobe and jewelry look "childish" actually, but I don't think about that.
