Timeless Gingham

Hello there, and happy Saturday! Bob and I aren't doing much this weekend, but we're glad about that, because we had such a whirlwind trip over part of last week/weekend. I'm cleaning, doing laundry, and working out today; all the fun stuff, ha!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Bernie dress, in a brand new Bernie style called the Nicole. It seems to be the same as her Kelly zip front shirt dress, but just with long sleeves instead of short sleeves. As with most of my Bernies, I sized up a size for my bust, so the bust fits well, but the waist is big on me. Just having longer sleeves definitely made me feel warmer, so I'm glad to have this as a cooler weather option, as most of my dresses are sleeveless or short sleeves. I can't resit the perfect trifecta of a shirt dress, gingham, & red!
I don't own cowboy boots, but I think they'd be a really cute pairing with this dress. I can see that as a great outfit to rock at the Nashville Boogie, which Bob and I are going to by the way(!!!), in May. This is my only complete red and white gingham dress; I used to have another Bernie one, but sold it, and I do own two Trashy Diva dresses that have some red and white gingham in them, but not all over. Gingham has to be one of my very favorite prints. I think it's so timeless and adorable. I think my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch pairs so well with red gingham, and I tend to always reach for it when I'm wearing any of my dresses with red gingham.

Sugar Doll

Hello there! Tonight I met up with three friends from a former job, and it was great to catch up; I hadn't seen one of them since I quit the job seven months ago. I don't have much going on yet for this upcoming weekend, but I'm quite excited for its arrival. It's definitely cooled down now here, so much so that some mornings this week I wore a coat. But, by the time lunch break rolls around, it's been very comfortable out, warm; but not hot.
I'm almost done re-reading "Water For Elephants". If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it! Reading it again just made me remember how wonderful it is. The movie wasn't nearly as good as the book, which is unfortunately usually the case. The book is so well written and interesting, and I love the fact that so much of it is based on actual circus events, and mixed with circus folklore.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter Sugar Doll dress that I recently scored from a Bernie Facebook group. It's been a unicorn of mine for years! I had it in the light blue verison awhile back, but ended up selling it because it was big on me (it was a size larger than this one), and I wanted the yellow verison more. It's hard to find cute dresses with a yellow background, and I always love a good cherry print. This dress is very tight on my bust, but at least it does fit! I felt like I had to pair my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch with this dress.
I couldn't ignore that perfect pairing.

Country Life

Hello there! Well, my husband and I are back safe and sound from my very short getaway to NOLA for my 30th birthday. I had a great time there, and got to go to all my favorite spots, even though we were only there for two full days. The trip was so quick, it almost feels like it wasn't real! We got home Saturday night around 8:00 p.m., after a long day of traveling. We won't be traveling again until April at the earliest, so this trip will have to tide me over until then!
The weather was beautiful there; we really lucked out! We heard from locals that just days before we got there it was very humid and hot. It was the first time I've been there when it hasn't been extremly hot and humid, so that was a nice treat. I'll post details and outfits from the trip later this week. I of course hit up both Trashy Diva locations, and purchased two dresses and two Erstwilder brooches at the stores.
It's kind of weird to think of myself as being 30 now; guess I'll have to get used to that! Other than that, it feels the same, and anticlimatic, ha. I didn't have any sad feelings about turning 30, but that may be another story when I turn 40, ha.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Retrospec'd country life print Connie dress. I have another print in the Connie style, and may also be adding another one in the near future. It's my favorite Retrospec'd style, and is quite comfortable. I really love a good landscape print, and this one is no exception!

Hawaiian Hideaway

Hello there! Ah, how nice that it's the weekend. Last night I just went to Target, and watched "Veep" and some TV. I ordered "Veep" season 4 on Amazon, and it arrived yesterday, so of course I had to start watching immediately, ha. Tonight Bob and I are going to my parent's, and my grandparents and aunt & uncle will be over, too. Tomorrow Bob and I will be looking at some houses.
In the pictures below I'm wearing an out of production Hawaiian Hideaway PUG dress that I found online, and scored on sale. It originally came in three colorways. This dress is a unicorn for some, and I never really looked for it, but when I came across it, I decided I needed it. I have a very similar Retrospec'd dress, but with pinks, oranges & reds in it. I hardly have any purple in my wardrobe, so it's nice to add this dress, plus it's a tikiiiii dress, and I'm clearly crazy for tiki. I was glad my pineapple necklace matches this dress so well, and after taking pictures, I realized my Erstwilder tiki drink brooch would also so great with it! Oh, and this dress also came with a little bolero, which is cute, but I opted not to wear it in these pictures, sot hat you could see the full dress. A big perk to this dress (that I didn't know before receiving it) is that there's stretch to it, and I can easily zip it on my own! I love that. There's also pockets.

The Stars At Night

Hello there! Wow, I can't believe fall starts tomorrow. I put out a few Halloween decorations last night, but I have a lot more to put out. It still definitely feels like summer here though, which for me is great! April-October are definitely my favorite months, and November-March I could do without that weather. The GREAT thing is though, that for the first time in my life, I work at a place I actually won't have to risk my life to get to in ice/snow, because I won't have to go in (I work at a school, in case anyone didn't know)!
This weekend I'll be seeing my family, but other than that, don't have much going on yet.  We don't have plans yet to look at any houses this weekend, but that may change if something pops up.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my trusty Heart of Haute dress. I got it about a year ago, and wear it a lot to work. It's a simple cotton dress, but I think it's flattering, and it's certainly comfortable. I like the pop of the neon pink bandeau agains the dress. I'm wearing my favorite hair flower piece in the first picture. It's so bright & fun! There's fruit pieces on it, too.

Venice Nights

Hello there! Last night Bob and I went out to eat to the same outdoor bar we went to last Saturday. I had never eaten at this place before, and he hadn't in a very long time. We had a good time, and their outdoor bar area is really nice. Bob wanted to get their pretzels and beer cheese dip as an appetizer, but I'm always hesistant to try it anywhere other than Brew Works. Every time I've tried it elsewhere, it doesn't hold a candle to Brew Works, and it unforunately was the same way again. The problem is that these other places just use salted pretzels sticks, as opposed to Brew Works, which uses some sort of delicious seasoning on their pretzels, and they don't taste salty.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva dress. This collection launched on Tuesday, and is the first release from what will now be their annaul Tourist Collection. This print is called "Venice Nights", and the dress style I got is the circle day dress. The material is soooo silky smooth, like butter. I ordered two sizes, and kept the smaller of the two (am returning the other one), and this is still a little big on me; I probably could down another size. But, I ordered according to the size chart, so keep in mind that there's stretch in this, beyond what the size chart says. I definitely need to wear a belt with it, as my waist isn't defined enough without one. At least I can zip this dress on my own, which is a huge plus! I have one other day dress, but it's not a circle skirt, it's a less full skirt. I like the fuller skirt better. I don't have shoes other than black ones that match this dress perfectly, and you may have noticed how much I like to match. I paired my yellow Iones with this dress for now, even though the yellow in the dress is closer to gold, but BAIT is releasing a dark pink Ione soon that I'm going to get, and I hope it'll matcht the dark pinkish color in this dress!

Buzz, Buzz!

Hello there! Today I didn't go into work at all, but my boss and I did go to a workshop for work, about half an hour from where I live. My boss picked me up and we carpooled there. The workshop ended around 11:45, and then we had lunch there, and I didn't go back to work after, because I had a dentist appointment. It was my first time going to this dentist's office. I am always nervous about and dread going to the dentist's. But, I can say this is the best office I have ever been to. Everybody I interacted there was so nice, patient, and sweet, and I LOVED the dentist! She was excellent, and even though I came there for a cleaning and x-rays, she spotted two things I needed fixing, and was able to fix one of them in this same appointment. I've never had that happen; I've always had to make a future appointment for any work I needed done. I do need to go back in a month to take care of the other issue, but now I won't be dreading it! It was also nice to find out that I have really good dental insurance, ha. This was my first time using it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a new Bernie Dexter dress. The bumblebee print is so cute, and I really love the beautiful shade of blue that the background color is. Bernie had released a bumblebee print years ago with a green background, but in the Paris style. I'm glad I never ordered it, because I like this blue background better, and like this dress style better.
