Fallin' For This Skirt

Hello there! So, I had a great time in Bethlehem last night with Bob. We got there later than we normally do; we normally get there around 3:00 or 4:00 p.m., to avoid the dinner rush, but we got there around 5:00, and then drove arond trying to find parking. Of course when we got in the restaurant it was packed, and there was a wait. Luckily we only waited for twenty minutes, and we were able to leave and walk around, because they texted us when our table was ready. I loved my meal, which is the same food I also order there ha, pretzels & beer cheese soup dip. It's so savory, flavorful, and delicious, and every time I've ordered it somewhere else, it is nowhere near as good. After dinner we walked down Main Street, and went to the Moravian Book Store, a stop we make every time we go to Bethlehem. It's the oldest book store in the U.S.; it's a really big store, and they have really cute gifts there, and lots of holiday decorations. I picked  up three Christmas ornaments that I loved. They're all sweets, which is (I'm sure it's not a shocker) the theme of my Christmas decorating, and my ornament collection has gotten pretty big! 
Speaking of ornaments, I'm so excited for my mom to go to Germany next month because I can't wait to see what ornaments and other goodies she picks up for me there! But, I'll have to wait until Christmas to find out. If you didn't know, Christmas is HUGE in Germany, and my mom has always had an obsession with Christmas and all things German, so she's gone over there a few times in November or December to do Christmas market tours and shopping, and I went with her once. Bob and I are actually going to a big antique toy show in the beginning of November in PA; we are meeting my parents and aunt and uncle there, and my mom has been there many times before, and told me there's a lot of antique Christmas decorations there, too, so I'm excited! 
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Pin Up Girl Clothing Halloween skirt, designed by artist Steph Buschema. As soon as I saw PUG first post about it was a month or so ago, I couldn't wait for it to become available, and as soon as it did, I snatched it up. A lot of their Halloween items have been selling out SUPER fast. I was hoping my orange Harley top would match it, and they do match very well. The skirt is quite full, which I love. I don't wear petticoats, but if you do, you wouldn't need one for this skirt. The black Mary Jane heels I'm wearing are SO comfortable! They're BAIT, and I received them a couple of weeks or so ago. I've worn them to work too, and they never bother my feet at all, plus they're super cute!

Rockin' Robin

Hello there! Yay for the weekend returning. Last night I met a friend for a drink. I hadn't seen her in awhile, so it was really nice to catch up with her. Today I'm going to Bethlehem with Bob to out to eat and go to a couple of shops.
Now that Christmas is under 2.5 months away, I can't wait to see what Christmasy dresses will be released from my favorite brands! I HATE winter, but I do really love Christmas; it's my favorite holiday.  I haven't bought any gifts yet, but my mom keeps asking me what I want for Christmas, and this week I told her about some jewelry on Etsy, but I have to come up with more, ha. I'm going to spend some time going through my Etsy "favorites" to see what else I can come up with for her. My mom is always way ahead of the game. She wrote out all of her Christmas cards last week!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dress. This is the Connie style, and I have it in three prints now. I'd been eyeing this robin print for a long time, and finally made the plunge. A store owner in Florida that I know through some Facebook groups ordered it for me along with her own order, so I got a discount, and didn't pay shipping! Retrospec'd is one of my favorite dress brands, and I have eight of their dresses so far. They make such gorgeous prints! I'm not sure if all of them are, but I know at least some of their prints are exact copies of vintage prints.

Lindy Bop Cupcakes

hello there! Well, today wasn't the best day; it was kind of crazy at work, and then I had a 2.5 hour long dentist appointment for a crown; my first crown. I would've much rather been at work! But, I do really like everyone at my dentist's office, so that is a plus. My dentist did tell me I will  probably experience some gum pain, and I don't really feel pain yet, but hopefully it's not too bad. The numbness from the novocaine is all gone though finally! I did have a good mail day today though; I received two Lindy Bop dresses, although I'm returning one (way too small on my chest!), and a Retrospec'd Connie dress. I loveee the cupcake Lindy Bop dress and the Retrospec'd Connie dress, and I posted pictures below of the cupcake dress. The dress is only $37! Lindy Bop isn't the best quality, and their sizing is all over the place, but $37 is definitely worth it for this adorable, comfortable dress. I only own one other LB dress (I recently sold one), and most of the time LB dresses don't really appeal to me, but this season they've been coming out with some really cute prints! Believe it or not, I didn't have a cupcake dress in my wardrobe (I did have one cupcake dress, but sold it a few months ago). This print also comes in a skirt version, but I'm more of a dress girl, if ya hadn't noticed.  There's also a really cute fox print LB shirt dress that's brand new on their site, and I'm thinking about getting that one. Believe it or not, I don't have many dresses with pink backgrounds, and pink is one of my favorite colors!
I'm excited for the weekend! Bob and I are going to Brew Works on Saturday for dinner. 
We haven't been in a couple of months. It'll be nice to see what new Christmas items the Moravian Bookstore has, too. I'm also meeting my friend tomorrow night for a drink. It'll be nice to get out of the apartment a bit, since last weekend I just stayed home.

New Orleans, Part I

Hello there! So, here's my first post about our recent short and lovely trip to New Orleans. I'll posted about the rest of it in another post soon.
So, I went to New Orleans last Wednesday night with Bob, and left last Saturday morning. We were only there two full days, so the trip was a real whirlwind. Since we've been there together twice before, we knew where to go with our limited time. We left our hotel room around 10:45 pm on Wednesday, and went to Erin Rose, an Irish bar that we love. It has a dive bar feel, which we also love. We had a couple of drinks there, and split a grilled cheese sandwich. After that, we went to a bar called Boondock Saint on Bourbon Street. We try to stay off Bourbon for the most part, but that bar is decent. It's always interesting to talk to bartenders or servers in New Orleans. Most of the ones we've talked to are not from New Orleans. At Erin Rose, a guy came in with some dollar bills safety pined to his chest. It was his birthday, too (it was mine on Wednesday). We ended up finding out that in New Orleans, that's a thing; people will give you money to pin to your chest on your birthday, ha. So, someone told me I should do the same thing... and I made a whole $3. We got back to our room around 2:30 am, and so we didn't get up as early as I wanted to the next morning. 
On Thursday we started out by going to Johnny's Poboys, and then going shopping, naturally. Johnny's is my favorite spot for Poboys; they've been open since the 50's I believe, and are reasonably priced, and really good. We of course went to Trashy Diva as soon as the opened at noon, and I got two dresses I had been wanting for awhile but was waiting for my trip, and I also picked up an Erstwilder brooch I had been wanting. We went to some other stores in the Quarter, and I picked up a Hello Kitty cupcake Christmas ornament a the Christmas shop. We also walked over to where a store called Wicked used to be, but I was very disappointed it was gone. They sold Retrolicious and Folter brand there, among others, and last time I was there I bought two dresses.
We took an Uber over to Magazine Street in the Garden District in the afternoon. Magazine is one of my favorite streets in New Orleans. There's a lot of little shops and restaurants one after the other there. We went to Trashy Diva's other clothing shop location there, where I picked up another Erstwilder brooch. We ate at Juan's Flying Burrito there, which we hadn't been to before, and later we walked down to District Donuts, and I got a glazed donut there, which was SO good, and huge. We went in a few other shops, but I didn't get anything else. We also stopped by this outdoor area where an artist named Simon works on his art, and he also employs other artists who paint for him. I've bought magnets from him before, and I really love his paintings. He uses New Orleans phrases in his paintings like "Ain't nothin' a poboy can't fix" and "Laissez Les Bons Temp Roules" (English= let the good time roll).

Timeless Gingham

Hello there, and happy Saturday! Bob and I aren't doing much this weekend, but we're glad about that, because we had such a whirlwind trip over part of last week/weekend. I'm cleaning, doing laundry, and working out today; all the fun stuff, ha!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Bernie dress, in a brand new Bernie style called the Nicole. It seems to be the same as her Kelly zip front shirt dress, but just with long sleeves instead of short sleeves. As with most of my Bernies, I sized up a size for my bust, so the bust fits well, but the waist is big on me. Just having longer sleeves definitely made me feel warmer, so I'm glad to have this as a cooler weather option, as most of my dresses are sleeveless or short sleeves. I can't resit the perfect trifecta of a shirt dress, gingham, & red! 
I don't own cowboy boots, but I think they'd be a really cute pairing with this dress. I can see that as a great outfit to rock at the Nashville Boogie, which Bob and I are going to by the way(!!!), in May. This is my only complete red and white gingham dress; I used to have another Bernie one, but sold it, and I do own two Trashy Diva dresses that have some red and white gingham in them, but not all over. Gingham has to be one of my very favorite prints. I think it's so timeless and adorable. I think my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch pairs so well with red gingham, and I tend to always reach for it when I'm wearing any of my dresses with red gingham.

Sugar Doll

Hello there! Tonight I met up with three friends from a former job, and it was great to catch up; I hadn't seen one of them since I quit the job seven months ago. I don't have much going on yet for this upcoming weekend, but I'm quite excited for its arrival. It's definitely cooled down now here, so much so that some mornings this week I wore a coat. But, by the time lunch break rolls around, it's been very comfortable out, warm; but not hot.
I'm almost done re-reading "Water For Elephants". If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it! Reading it again just made me remember how wonderful it is. The movie wasn't nearly as good as the book, which is unfortunately usually the case. The book is so well written and interesting, and I love the fact that so much of it is based on actual circus events, and mixed with circus folklore.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter Sugar Doll dress that I recently scored from a Bernie Facebook group. It's been a unicorn of mine for years! I had it in the light blue verison awhile back, but ended up selling it because it was big on me (it was a size larger than this one), and I wanted the yellow verison more. It's hard to find cute dresses with a yellow background, and I always love a good cherry print. This dress is very tight on my bust, but at least it does fit! I felt like I had to pair my Erstwilder cherry pie brooch with this dress. 
I couldn't ignore that perfect pairing.

Country Life

Hello there! Well, my husband and I are back safe and sound from my very short getaway to NOLA for my 30th birthday. I had a great time there, and got to go to all my favorite spots, even though we were only there for two full days. The trip was so quick, it almost feels like it wasn't real! We got home Saturday night around 8:00 p.m., after a long day of traveling. We won't be traveling again until April at the earliest, so this trip will have to tide me over until then!
The weather was beautiful there; we really lucked out! We heard from locals that just days before we got there it was very humid and hot. It was the first time I've been there when it hasn't been extremly hot and humid, so that was a nice treat. I'll post details and outfits from the trip later this week. I of course hit up both Trashy Diva locations, and purchased two dresses and two Erstwilder brooches at the stores.
It's kind of weird to think of myself as being 30 now; guess I'll have to get used to that! Other than that, it feels the same, and anticlimatic, ha. I didn't have any sad feelings about turning 30, but that may be another story when I turn 40, ha.

It's my favorite Retrospec'd style, and is quite comfortable. I really love a good landscape print, and this one is no exception!
