Hello there! Well, after having a nice little reprieve of somewhat cooler weather, it's gotten hot again, and will be 90 degrees the next two days. I don't have too much going on this week, but Saturday Bob and I will be looking at a couple of houses, with a realtor. It'll be the first time we're doing this. We have driven by houses before to look at them, but never gone inside. So, this should be exciting.
The kids came back to the school I work at on Tuesday, but it hasn't been too loud or anything, or too different (yet) from working over the summer. It's just different hearing the bells ring, though! I haven't heard school bells ring in quite a few years.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Lena picnic dress that I got a year ago. It's the perfect summertime dress. There's stretchy side panels that make for a comfy fit.
I wore this outfit to the bbq I went to on Sunday, and got a couple of compliments on it.
The Erstwilder cake brooch and the Splendette bangles are all new. The bracelets came with a matching Luxulite brooch; it was a collaboration between the two brands, and not very many sets were made, so I'm glad I got to snag one! The brooch is from Erstwilder's most recent release, and I got another brooch from that release (an adorable tiki drink), as well as one from the previous release. I posted a picture of them in my last blog post. This cake brooch is my favorite of the three.

Shopping In PA
Hello there! I had a great day yesterday. My mom and I, and my mom's Sheltie, Heidi went out to Lewisburg and Mifflinburg, PA to do some shopping. I met my mom at 7:50, and we got to our first stop two hours later. We usually go out there together twice a year, but that was our third time this year, and we also are probably going in November. Our first stop is my favorite stop: Stamm House. We wanted to get there by 10:00, which is when it opened, and it was opening day "for the season". We knew that another woman who we've seen there before a few times would be there by 10:00 to shop, too, and didn't want to be late, because the artist, Kay, sometimes only has one of an item or two, and you have to snatch them up!
I have sooo many pieces from there! Kay sells holiday decorations that she makes from old German paper mache molds, and then hand paints. They are so gorgeous. I was able to get some cute Christmas items there this time, but when I talked to Kay, she told me that she'd have a lot more by early November, so that's why I want to go back in November. Afer Stamm House, we went to a couple of other stores and an antique mall. At the antique mall I got the two items in the first picture below. I got a great deal on both; I got them for $13 total! I already had one similar cocktail shaker (the brand is Hazel Atlas), but I'm happy to add this shaker to my antique bar cart, too.
When I got home from our trip, there were a couple of packages that had arrived. I posted a picture below of my new Erstwilder brooches and a hair flower from Etsy. I got the brooches from DNJ Retro, a US retailer for Erstwilder. I love all the brooches and hair flower! I was so happy Erstwilder released a tiki brooch! It's the first one I've ever seen from them.
Today I'm going to Bob's cousin's bbq. It's supposed to be a really nice day out, too, inspite of the tropical storm that is supposed to effect New Jersey very soon.

"I've Been Everywhere, Man"
Hello there! I'm excited that new episodes of "Shameless" debuted on Netflix today! I can't wait to start watching them; "Shameless" is one of my favorite shows. I haven't had much going on this week, but Saturday I'm going shopping in PA with my mom (can't wait!), and Sunday I'm going to a picnic at Bob's cousin's house.
The teachers came back to work today, and the students will be there on Tuesday. It'll be interesting to see what it's like there with school in session! I know it'll be a lot louder, that's for sure.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Bernie acquisition; the Kelly in the On The Road print. It's a brand new dress that just hit her website, and I ordered it as soon as I saw it! I actually first spotted this fabric on vacation in July, at a fabric store, and I pointed it out to my husband, because I REALLY loved it. I was soooo excited to see Bernie release it in the Paris version, and since the Paris is not my favorite cut, I emailed her, and asked if it'd be released in any other styles, and luckily she told me a Kelly was coming! I very impatiently waited for the Kelly to arrive, ha. I've been to thirty five states and three countries, so this dress is quite apropos for me. I LOVE to travel; it's one of my very favorite things. My parents also love to travel (and my mother's parents do), so that *may* be where I got it from! Not that I'm counting, but it's twenty seven days until our next getaway!
Oh, and if you didn't know, the blog title is from a Johnny Cash song!

Mahjong
Hello there!I haven't been doing much today, but I did go through a lot of things in the apartment, and threw away a lot, which always makes me feel good! I love purging, ha.
I'm meeting my friend in a little bit for a drink, and then coming home for a relaxing, quiet night in.
I got this Trashy Diva mahjong print dress a couple of months ago, and did feature it in a blog post back then. I won't be wearing it as much in other seasons, because of the white background. But, I can add a cropped cardi to wear it in early fall/late spring. I ordered a mahjong bracelet from the Etsy shop Luxulite yesterday, and can't wait to wear it with this dress. Trashy Diva comes out with a lot of Asian prints, and I love most of them. This dress is the Annette style, and I have 5 Annettes and 1 Anne (the Anne is almost identical to the Annette). The Annette/Anne is my favorite TD style. I hope more come out soon!

Glass Half Full
Hello there! Well, my work week is done with, and it's so lovely that the weekend has rolled around again. I think my weeks go faster working at this job, than they did at any other jobs; maybe because I actually like my job, ha! My boss was off Tuesday-today, and luckily nothing happened where I needed to reach out to him to get a response. I didn't want to have to bug him while he was on vacation.
I don't have much planned for this weekend, other than meeting up with a friend Saturday night. Otherwise, I'll just be doing my normal weekend tasks, like cleaning, laundry, and working out. Next weekend will be busier: on Saturday I'm going shopping in PA with my mom for holiday decorations, and Sunday Bob and I will be going to his cousin's for a bbq.
Oh, we booked my birthday trip! We found a GREAT deal for a short getaway to New Orleans, my favorite place I've ever been to! I didn't even really think it'd be an option to go there for my birthday, but I'm very excited. We'll be leaving on a Wednesday night, and leaving NOLA on Saturday morning, so it's a quick trip. Luckily, since we've been there twice before, we know exactly where to go during the limited time we have, to make the most of it.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a Bettie Page (now Tatyana) dress that I found for sale about a month ago on a Facebookswap & sell group. I originally bought this dress from Modcloth about three years ago, and ended up returning it; I just wasn't that into it at the time. Afterwards, I would occassionally see it crop up for sale on eBay or Facebook, and ended up seeing one a size bigger than I wanted, but figured it'd better than nothing. I think the print is really cute and retro-y looking. I have this same dress style in a nesting dolls print, too. The style runs big in general, and I wish I had a size smaller in both.

New Hope
Hello there! Yesterday Bob and I went to New Hope for the day, and got back around 5:00 p.m. It was hot out, but not unbearable for walking around outside. When we got there, we first went to the restaurant we usually go to, and sat outside at the bar to get lunch and have drinks. We were there a couple of hours, and then we went to a couple of stores. I picked up two pairs of earrings at Thirteen Vintage, which is run by two really nice guys. The one guy recognized me from Instagram a year or so ago, and now we always talk about "pin up" clothing/the community when I come in. We walked over by the river, which we always do when we're in New Hope, and got some nice pictures. It's really beautiful at the Delaware River, and it separates New Jersey from PA. Bob likes New Hope, and he introduced me to it, but, I like to go more often than he does, ha. If it were up to him we'd probably go once a year, or twice, max. But, in general, I just like to do day trips (and going away trips) more than he does.
Speaking of trips, I've been doing a lot of research this weekend about going away for a long weekend over my birthday next month. We are deciding between three cities to go to, ha. When it's a city you've never been to before, it's hard to figure out the logistics, and it stresses me out a bit. It's very tempting to just go back to New Orleans, since I do miss it a lot, and we also know exactly where to go there, and how to get around, which makes a difference since we are only going away for a short time. New Orleans basically has a siren call to me, ha. It's my favorite city I've ever been to. It's VERY hard to pass up any opportunity to go there, no matter how short the time there would be. But, my mind isn't made up yet.
Another thing complicating this even more, is that I've never used Airbnb before, but am looking at it now. After this mini trip, we probably won't be going on any trips until March at the earliest.

Rainbow Pennants
Hello there! This work week went really quickly for me. It's still been hot here, just sligtly less hot and humid than it was during our terrible heat wave. We get a little rain here and there, but not an all day kind of thing, and it doesn't take away the humidity, it usually just makes it worse. Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny, and less hot than last Saturday, so we will be going to New Hope, and I'm excited. We're going to get lunch and have drinks at an outside bar on the main street. It's great for people watching, since it's in a busy area.
The whole drive to New Hope is really pretty; the roads we take go through lots of farmland, small, historic, quaint towns, and there's mountains nearby that we can see from the car.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Modcloth Bea & Dot rainbow pennant dress that I got from them two and a half years ago. This dress is another great work dress, because of the high neckline and width at the shoulders. It's especially good in the summertime, since it's work appropriate without a cardi. I also think it's a perfect length on me. I used to wear it with a belt, but I don't really think it's necessary, since it nips in on its own at the waist.
