Hello there! I am SO happy it's a three day weekend! It's been two months since I've had a long weekend, and it's seemed like even longer. Yesterday I went to a flea market about half an hour from me. I haven't really been to one since I was a kid. I didn't know what to expect, but was hoping I'd find some goodies, and good deals.
I got a vintage cookie jar I'd been after for awhile, two 50's spaghetti poodle figurine sets (only $10 each), a Blendo glass (for ten cents), and a 60's vintage enamel flower brooch. Admission to get in was only $2, too. I'm really glad I went! It wasn't as big as I thought it'd be, and there weren't really any vintage holiday items or 50's items. I pretty much snagged all the 50's items, ha.
Today Bob and I are going to his cousin's house for a Labor Day bbq. We got there every year. His cousin's wife is pregnant with their first child (due in two months), and I haven't seen her in a few months.
We leave for our big trip in just twelve(!!) days now. When I think about it, my stomach gets butterflies! I'm so looking forward to it, and just imagining what it will be like is exciting.
I hope we find the right balance of hitting most of the things we want to see, but not rushing around too much.
In
the pictures below I'm wearing my newest Retrospec'd dres that I
snagged in their latest sale a couple of weeks or so ago. I loved this
print since I first saw it about a year ago. The colors of the roses are
so beautiful. The Vivian is one of my favorite styles they make; it's
comfortable and fits me well. Some of their other styles are super tight
on my bust, while they fit my waist.

Hello there! This weekened hasn't been too eventful; yesterday I went antiquing to a couple of local spots. I got a small ceramic Christmas tree, a mid century glass churner (not sure what it would churn?) with pink accents, and two small glasses with roosters on them, one has pink rooster, and one has blue. Two of my favorite things to collect is colorful, mid century glasswear, and 50's Christmas decor. Ceramic trees are very popular now, both vintage and new tree, and can be quite pricey. I got my little one for $12.
After I got back from antiquing, my mom stopped by for a bit. Later on I cleaned and did laundry, and Bob and I finished "Stranger Things"! I didn't want it to end, ugh. I hate how you have to wait a year for the next season of these shows! I forget most of what happened by then, ha.
This week I'll be meeting a friend for dinner after work one night, and also meeting my family for dinner one night. I don't have much planned yet for this upcoming weekend.
I don't want the rest of July or August to fly by, but I am super excited for September! Not only are Bob and I going to the U.K., but I also just found out my friend who lives in Vegas is coming home to Pennsylvania the first weekend in September, so I'll get to meet up with her while she's home!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva Carnival Annette dress, that I've had for two and a half years. I've worn it many, many times. The print is so beautiful, and the colors are stunning. This is one of my all time favorite vintage reprodution novelty prints. Trashy Diva hasn't been releasing many novelty prints in awhile now; I really wish they'd go back to doing that more often. My new sage green Splendette bangles match the dress so well.
When I wore this dress to dinner on Friday night, the bartender asked if I was going to a party....nope, lady, this is just the way I dress!

Hello there! I didn't realize I hadn't blogged in three weeks; that just slipped by. This past weekend I had a three day weekend; I had off on Friday. I didn't do a lot either, so I had a lot of relaxation time, which was nice. Saturday afternoon my mom and I went antiquing locally, and I just got a piece of turquoise Pyrex. In the evening Bob and I went out to dinner, and then ran errands.
I'm happy this week is another short week at work, for the 4th of July. I do work on Friday, though; I know some people don't, since the 4th is on a Thursday. Bob and I are going to my parent's house on the 4th. My sister will be home, and my grandparents, and a few others are coming, too. I'll be making blondies; if you've never had them, they're amazing. They're brownies that taste like chocolate chip cookies!
The roof is on our house now, and next is the plumbing work, which I believe will begin this week.
We've been having quite the heat wave, with it being about 90 almost all of last week, and going to be for most of this week, although today and yesterday weren't as bad. I wish the ocean were right next door, instead of an hour and a half away!
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore to go out to eat on Saturday night. This is truly one of my favorite dresses, and I also find it to be quite flattering on me. The skirt isn't full, since the style is a 1940's style, and not my usual 50's style, but I still love it. I have worn this dress a lot since I got it a few months ago. I think the print and the colors in it are so beautiful. I have a few Bakelite bangles that match the colors in the feathers so well, so I always wear those bangles with it.

Hello there! I had another three day weekend this weekend, as I took Friday off. I've been using up my extra vacation and personal days by taking off on some Fridays. I haven't done a whole lot this weekend, but last night Bob and I went out for dinner to a place we hadn't been to before. The batender was really nice, which is obviously a plus. We like to sit at the bar when we go out to eat, particularly because we find the service can be better/quicker at the bar than a table.
I also went over to our property yesterday, as Bob wanted me to take a look at the progress on our house consturction. The construction started on Wednesday, and it's already almost all framed. He's very excited about it, and I am too, I just wish we could move in NOW! I told him as soon as he builds the deck, which will be this summer, I want to go over there on weekends and hang out on the deck, even though the house won't be ready yet to move into. I was able to walk around on the first floor, and he wanted me to go upstairs to check out the second floor, but I don't like using ladders, and the ladder that was there seemed old, too.
I'm so happy it's JUNE! I'm just such a summer girl, and look forward to it all year. Our anniversary is in 19 days, and I can't wait to go away for a long weekend with Bob.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter bee dress. This print is so darn cute, and I just love wearing turquoise. This Enid Collins purse pairs really well the dress, too.
I got this purse back in September, and while the colors aren't super bright, I still love it.
I bought these white Remix sandals at Viva this year, and I've already worn them countless times. They obviously go well with a lot of my wardrobe, plus they're super comfortable!

Hello there! I'm back! I took an unintended month long break from blogging. We got back from our San Diego vacation almost two weeks ago, and time has been just flying this whole month. Our trip was so much fun! I'll blog about it sometime soon. I've been doing a lot of Saturday day trips this summer, which has been great! Yesterday I went out to Mifflinburg & Lewisburg, PA with my mom, to go antiquing. We also picked up and loaded into my dad's truck a very heavy Heywood Wakefield dresser from an antique dealer that refinishes and sells Heywood pieces. My parents are giving Bob and me the dresser for our new house, along with a few other Heywood pieces.
Last Saturday Bob and I went to Asbury Park to the Surf Music Festival. When we first got to Asbury Park we went to a couple of antique shops there (one is quite big and a really good one, with many dealers), and also had lunch at an excellent sub shop we always hit when we're down there, and then I got a donut from a donut shop called Purple Glaze, which we had never been to before. I got a few things from the antique shops: a set of four Blendo glasses, two cheap plastic bangles, and a vintage Neiman Marcus coin purse with a 60's print on it.
Once we were done hitting those few stops, we headed over to the fesitval. We had never been to this festival before. The first thing we did there was hit the vendors, of course.
There were about twenty vedors, and I bought one vintage floral dress. We watched three bands play, and most of the music was instrumental, which we were expecting, because that's mostly what surf music is. We also grabbed dinner at our restaurant inside the convention hall (which is where the festival was held), and headed home around 7:00.
We like surf music, but it's not our favorite genre; I still had a good day, and am glad we got to go.
Asbury Park is pretty artsy and eclectic, and is also gay friendly; there's rainbow flags all over the place. I really enjoy visiting towns like that; New Hope, PA also has a similar vibe.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new Trashy Diva L'amour dress. The print is called psychadellic dragons, and if you look closely, you will see dragons in the print. I, along with some other girls in the Trashy Diva group call it the Lisa Frank print, and I'm sure you can see why! I believe this is the brightest dress I own, and that's saying something! The L'amour isn't my favorite style on myelf, but there weren't any options in this print that I liked better. The L'amour is a great summery style, though. I've already worn this dress a few times, and I plan on wearng it as much as I can until it gets too cold to; the fabric is very light.

Hello there! I can't believe it's the end of July. I'm trying to savor every day, as summer is my favorite season. Of course it's also the one that goes by the fastest! But, despite what others may say, we still have TWO more months of summer! It doesn't end until September 22. One of my pet peeves is when people rush the seasons, except for winter, ha! I'm all about rushing every winter, always. For example, I hear so many people who think summer ends September 1, or the first day of school...NOPE! Haha that's just one of my many pet peeves.
Things have been a little stressful as of late; Bob is having issues with our car insurance; they want to total his car, and only give him a fraction of what it's worth, and my car, which I just got fixed, is now acting up again (different problems). I may be looking into buying another (used) car soon, but it's not ideal, with us having more expenses as of late, and in the near future with building our house, and our vacation coming up very (!!!) soon.
Tomorrow Bob and I are heading to Lancaster for Retrofest; it'll be our second time going. There were such good vendors last year, so I'm really looking forward to it. It's a little over two hours each way.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Trashy Diva 1940's Cranes dress that I got two years ago, paired with my new Remix Vintage Shoes wedges. Believe it or not, before acquing these wedges, I did't own any orange or lime shoes. I love this color combination, and they match this dress pretty perfectly! They also match a couple of my other dresses, and they'll match the upcoming TD print, which is going to be released soon. I can't wait for it; it has ALL the colors in it!! It couldn't be more perfect for me. Someone called it the Lisa Frank print, so that's why I've been calling it, too. Does it surprise you that I was obsessed with Lisa Frank when I was in elementary school, and kind of still am?? I still have some of my items!

Hello there! So far it's been a scorching hot week here; yesterday it reached 90, and was humid. Our power even went out for forty-five minutes last night, but luckily it came back on before we went to bed, or else I don't know how we would've been able to sleep without a/c/! A couple minutes after the power went out, I was already uncomfortably hot.
I'm excited to go to the rockabilly show on Thursday with Bob, only two days away now (it's also the first day of summer, and our fourth wedding anniversary)! Tomorrow night I'll be going to Panera for dinner with Bob, my dad, and grandmother.
Fingers crossed that Bob and I are going to Asbury Park for the day on Saturday. He knows I really want go, but he hasn't let me know yet if that's what we'll be doing.
In the pictures below I'm wearing a beautiful Retrospec'd Gigi dress that I got on sale recently, and on top of it, I used a 20% off discount code, so I got it for a really great price!
I had liked this print for a long time, too. I love beautiful Asian inspired prints, and Asian lanterns are no exception.
I ordered the dress in my size, but after I placed the order, Retrospec'd contacted me to let m know they actually were sold out in my size. They offered me the next size up, and I took it, knowing the dress would definitely be big on me, and it is really big in the waist. So, I have to wear it belted, and that does help a lot. Since I love red dresses, it's a plus that this dress has a nice red background.
If you order directly from the Retrospec'd website, which I don't do much, the shipping is expensive; it's $19, but it does come insanely fast. It comes to me within three days of it being shipped, all the way from Australia! When I order from PUG or Unique Vintage, which are located in California, it takes 7-8 days. What a difference!
I've been wearing this Remix Vintage Shoes purple sandals A LOT, since I received them.
They are VERY comfortable, and that shade of purple just can't be beat.

Hello there! Now that I'm back home after our Nashville Boogie trip, life just isn't as exciting, ha. It likes being in an alternate reality when we attend these rockabilly weekenders; getting to be surrounded by many other people who are dressed similiarly to us and listening to music that we all love is a neat experience. I'll post pictures from the trip in another blog post.
The trip of course went super fast. We were only there for four full days though; we got in Tuesday night and left for the airport late Sunday morning. We had a lot of fun, and I got to meet a lot of new people, people I recognized from Instagram, and also others I didn't.
We also got to meet up with my sister and her husband a couple of times; they had just gotten back from a ten day honeymoon in Greece.
This trip just makes me even more excited for Tiki Oasis! I talked to a couple of people this trip about Tiki O, and they said how fun it is, and that people are so relaxed and friendly there, which I'm very happy to hear!
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage skirt that I got at the Boogie. I love the southwestern/Mexican print on it, and the colors. I'm wearing a petticoat under it, as without one it doesn't flare out much. I of course paired primary colored fruit accessories and shoes with the skirt. My favorite part of the print is the basket of fruit. The price tag hanging off the skirt called this a "Carmen Miranda skirt", and I can see why, with the woman on it with the fruit on her head. I rarely buy skirts, as I much prefer wearing dresses, but I just couldn't pass this special one up.
I actually didn't buy anything the Boogie other than the skirt and a piece of artwork (a tiki print to hang on the wall), oh, and also Charles Phoenix's newest book "Addicted to Americana". I got to meet him, get a picture with him, and he signed the book! He was super nice and easy to talk to. I was a little nervous to talk to him. He puts on such a great slideshow! We've seen two now. I did get some items outside of the Boogie; two super cute dish towels, and a Nashville magnet that looks like a vintage postcard.
