Beach Weekend

Hello there!
Two weeks ago Bob and I went to Wildwood and Cape May for a long weekend, to celebrate our fifth(!!) wedding anniversary. We stayed at the 1950's Caribbean Motel in Wildwood for two nights. We stayed there once before, the only other time we went to Wildwood and Cape May, almost two years ago. This time we paid a little more, and got a better room, with an amazing 50's style bathroom. The shower tile was my favorite part of the room! the shower was HUGE, with one wall having white, red, yellow, blue, and green tile, and the other having green and blue tile.
Wildwood is a mecca of 50's motels. There are so many fabulous neon motel signs around that I love to check out and take pictures of.
The ride down was fine; there was no traffic, just on and off rain to contend with. Luckily it stopped raining by the time we arrived in Cape May, and didn't rain the whole time we were there. It was sunny and 80 degrees the whole weekend.
When we arrived in Cape May we went to lunch, and then went to a few shops. I bought some Christmas ornaments, and an antique Christmas Scotch tape container. We stopped for ice cream in Wildwood, and then went to our motel to check in.
We went out to eat at a Welsh pub that evening, and walked to a couple of outdoor bars afterwards for drinks. The next morning I took an early dip in the heated outdoor pool, and then walked over to the beach, which was just across the street. I layed out and read, and went in the ocean, too, but the water was cold, and I didn't stay in too long each time. Bob went in too, and even put his head under water.
Saturday afternoon after the beach we went to an Irish pub for a late lunch. They make orange crushes there, which are my favorite summertime drink, so I had a couple of those.
We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner that night, where we both had ravioli. We were both tired, so we had an early night, and left early the next morning, but made sure to stop at a bakery in Wildwood on our way out. We had never been there before, but I had read reviews online. They're known for their apple fritters. I had one, which was warm, and SO delicious!

Showgirl Royalty

Hello there! I didn't realize I hadn't blogged in three weeks; that just slipped by. This past weekend I had a three day weekend; I had off on Friday. I didn't do a lot either, so I had a lot of relaxation time, which was nice. Saturday afternoon my mom and I went antiquing locally, and I just got a piece of turquoise Pyrex. In the evening Bob and I went out to dinner, and then ran errands.
I'm happy this week is another short week at work, for the 4th of July. I do work on Friday, though; I know some people don't, since the 4th is on a Thursday. Bob and I are going to my parent's house on the 4th. My sister will be home, and my grandparents, and a few others are coming, too. I'll be making blondies; if you've never had them, they're amazing. They're brownies that taste like chocolate chip cookies!
The roof is on our house now, and next is the plumbing work, which I believe will begin this week.
We've been having quite the heat wave, with it being about 90 almost all of last week, and going to be for most of this week, although today and yesterday weren't as bad. I wish the ocean were right next door, instead of an hour and a half away!
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore to go out to eat on Saturday night. This is truly one of my favorite dresses, and I also find it to be quite flattering on me. The skirt isn't full, since the style is a 1940's style, and not my usual 50's style, but I still love it. I have worn this dress a lot since I got it a few months ago. I think the print and the colors in it are so beautiful. I have a few Bakelite bangles that match the colors in the feathers so well, so I always wear those bangles with it.

Psychedelic

Hello there! Yesterday Bob and I went to New Hope, PA. We hadn't been in a year, and I was itching to go back. The weather was perfect; warm and sunny. We sat at an outdoor bar, and I had a delicious after-Thanksgiving sandwich; turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. We went to the same outdoor bar last time we were there, and ordered the same meals as last time, too. I'm definitely a creature of habit, ha.
We also went in a couple of vintage shops, and Bob found a button down shirt. We stopped at an antique mall/flea market on our way back, which was supposed to be open until four p.m., but when we got there around 3:15, there were only a couple of vendors at the flea market left, and only a few vendors open inside. How annoying is that?! It wasn't 3:55. We didn't buy anything, which wasn't surprising!
Today I've been doing A LOT of research on Ireland, which is the first stop of our UK trip in three(!!) months. I can't believe how much research it takes, and I'm still not done looking.
I haven't even started in on England or Scotladn, either. As far as Ireland goes, I'm most excited about going to Galway, it seems right up my alley. It's a city, with tons of pubs, restaurants, live Irish music, shops, and is on the water. Right now, we're thinking of going for three nights. It would be nice to stay in one place for three nights, as we'll be doing a lot of moving around throghout our trip. I think we'll also be in London for three nights.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Psychedelic Dragons Trashy Diva dress I got a year ago. With all of the color on it, it's as "me" as a dress could be! It's definitely more of a 70's print, which is my only 70's item in my wardrobe. With all of the color, I thought it was a great choice to wear in New Hope too, because it's a very gay friendly town. The sandals I'm wearing only match a few of my dresses, but I just adore them, and will be wearing them as often as I can this summer!

Buzz, Buzz

Hello there! I had another three day weekend this weekend, as I took Friday off. I've been using up my extra vacation and personal days by taking off on some Fridays. I haven't done a whole lot this weekend, but last night Bob and I went out for dinner to a place we hadn't been to before. The batender was really nice, which is obviously a plus. We like to sit at the bar when we go out to eat, particularly because we find the service can be better/quicker at the bar than a table.
I also went over to our property yesterday, as Bob wanted me to take a look at the progress on our house consturction. The construction started on Wednesday, and it's already almost all framed. He's very excited about it, and I am too, I just wish we could move in NOW! I told him as soon as he builds the deck, which will be this summer, I want to go over there on weekends and hang out on the deck, even though the house won't be ready yet to move into. I was able to walk around on the first floor, and he wanted me to go upstairs to check out the second floor, but I don't like using ladders, and the ladder that was there seemed old, too.
I'm so happy it's JUNE! I'm just such a summer girl, and look forward to it all year. Our anniversary is in 19 days, and I can't wait to go away for a long weekend with Bob.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter bee dress. This print is so darn cute, and I just love wearing turquoise. This Enid Collins purse pairs really well the dress, too.
I got this purse back in September, and while the colors aren't super bright, I still love it.
I bought these white Remix sandals at Viva this year, and I've already worn them countless times. They obviously go well with a lot of my wardrobe, plus they're super comfortable!

Vintage Dream Of A Dress

Hello there! I'm loving this long weekend; I actually have a four day weekend, which is even better! So far it's been a good one. Friday I cleaned and did laundry, took a walk, and just stayed in at night and watched a movie. Saturday I went to Adamstown by myself (my mom was going to come, but ended up going out to Ohio with my dad instead), and last night Bob and I went out to dinner, and then stopped at a bar for a drink. Tomorrow we're going to his family's bbq.
I usually go to Adamstown twice a year, and I don't always find much, but it's still fun to go and look. It's about an hour & 45 minutes from me, but it's worth it. It's know as the antique  capital of the U.S., because of how many antique malls and shops there are there. My parents have been going there for about thirty years now. I didn't spend too much money yesterday, but still got a few items I really like, which is the perfect combination! I got a Lustroware cookie cansister (plastic) that  had wanted for awhile, and will look great in our red and turquoise kitchen in our house, an ice cream carton with Bing Crosby on it, a drinking glass with atomic stars on it, and some vintage postcards.
By the way, we closed on our construction loan for our house on Friday, FINALLY!!!! It's taken such an unbelievably long time, and the process has been fraught with frustration for us, but especially for Bob, who has been the one dealing with the bank and contractors. He works in the construction industry, which is the main reason why he is dealing with the contractors himself.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my new to me vintage dress that I got from Etsy. I haven't been buying many dresses lately, but this one really spoke to me. It has a zip front!!! I LOVE zip fronts; they're so much easier than a back or side zip, and buttons usually mean gaping, which I hate. Front zips on vintage dresses seem to be rare, too. When I saw the measurement sfor the dress, I crossed my fingers it'd fit me, since my measurements are an inch or two bigger than the dress, but it fits like a glove. I just adore that beautiful floral print, and I really love pink and turquoise together.
