Hello there! Well, it's a really rotten day out: windy, cool, rainy, and dreary. There's a Nor'easter going on right now, and that's why we're having this weather today. Bob and I are going to my parents' house for dinner tonight, and there'll be some other family members there that we have never met before!
Now that Christmas is two months away, I have Kitschmas even more on my brain, ha. I'm excited for the upcoming Black Friday sales, and to watch Christmas movies, and bake cookies. I already bought a couple of presents and some wrapping paper, oh, and I have watched a couple of Christmas movies as of late. But, I'm most excited to go to the antique shows!
Next Saturday is the first show "of the season", and they'll be plenty of antique holiday items there. My parents and my cousins are also going. It's actually the day after my ten year(!!!) anniversary (since we started dating) with Bob, so Bob and I are going out to eat after the antique show. We normally do that every year, but this time we'll be celebrating ten years!
I know it's a long time, but it also went pretty fast, and it feels like we were just always together.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my lovely oranges Nicole Bernie Dexter that I got a couple of years ago. I only wear it in the cooler weather, since it is long sleeved. I just think this print is so beautiful. I have these BAIT Footwear heeled Oxfords in four different colors, and I'm thinking of adding another one or two to my closet. They are super comfortable, and don't get as easily damaged as my BAIT low heeled Spectators (Idas and Iones). But, I'm going to wait until the BAIT Black Friday sale to snag them.

Jaclyn
Hello there! Well, it finally feels like fall here. It has really cooled down the past couple of days. We definitely had had an Indian summer, until Friday. Unfortunately, the heat doesn't work in our apartment yet, so I am not happy about that. Last night it got down to 38 degrees, so I slept with a very thick, heavy blanket on top of our quilt. Every year we have the same problem in our apartment, and it's very annoying. I really hope it gets fixed today.
Last night Bob and I went out for drinks (and food for him) to a local restaurant/bar. During the day I went to a Pyrex event called Pyrex Palooza. This event was about forty minutes from me, so that was great! The event was smaller than the last Pyrex event I went to two weeks ago, but there were still plenty of good vendors there, and a few of the same ones from two weeks go. I still had birthday money to spend, which was nice. I picked up three pieces of Pyrex (for only $26 total!), a couple of framed Pyrex prints, and a Pyrex printed dish towel. I also talked to a few of the vendors for awhile, three of them being vendors I have seen/talked to before. Pyrex isn't my biggest antiquing passion, but I do love it, and there's definitely a nice little community of Pyrex vendors/collectors.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my much worn Trashy Diva Big Band Bows Jaclyn dress. I have blogged about this dress at least two other times. I adore the neckline on the dress, and the fact that the top part is red, and the bottom has a great 1940's fruit print on it. The dress colors definitely aren't bright, but I still love the print and the style. I obviously wear mostly 1950's vintage and repro looks, but I also love my 1940's vintage and reproduction dresses, too. The skirts weren't as full in the 40's dresses, which is one downside for me. I've worn this dress to work, to family functions, to go out for drinks, etc. It's appropriate for many different settings. I also think it's quite flattering on me, and I like wearing it with fishnet stockings. I refuse to wear any other stockings than fishnets, as I don't find them comfortable.

Happy October
Hello there! This weekend's been a fairly quiet one; I haven't done much outside of the apartment, except that I went to an antique mall yesterday and ran an errand. I only spent $6 at the antique mall, which was great! I got a vintage bottle of McCall's maple syrup, still in the original box.
We've been inundated with rain and gloom here for weeks now, off and on, but mostly on, although today it's not supposed to rain. But, unfortunately, this Tuesday-Thursday rain is predicted, and we REALLY don't need anymore. I think our local rivers are very high now.
Next weekend will be busier; I'm going to Pyrex Palooza on Saturday (another antique show/event where the focus is on Pyrex, but they'll also have other kitchenware and housewares). I just found out about the event this past week (it's their first year), and was so excited to see how close to my town it is! It's only about 35 minutes away, which is much closer than many shows/events I go to. I'm really looking forward to going, and I still have birthday money to spend! On Friday night I'm meeting a friend for a drink, too.
Antique show season really starts up in the beginning of November. There's a toy and holiday show the first weekend of November, and then the weekend of Thanksgiving there's a holiday show, as well as the first weekend of December. I can't wait!
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my Pinup Girl Clothing Halloween skirts (I have two), that I picked up during the huge sale this summer. I think I paid $35 or $40 for it. I loved this print as soon as it was released last fall, but resisted buying it, since I already had another PUG Halloween skirt. But, when I saw how marked down it was this summer, I couldn't pass it up! I really don't have much purple in my wardrobe, but it's not that I don't like the color. I think this print is absolutely adorable! My Luxulite Halloween necklace goes pretty perfectly with the skirt, too.

Happy Valley
Hello there! I have off of work today; I used "comp time", which is time off I earned, because of working extra hours. Work has calmed down now, which is great. Today I've been cleaning and doing laundry, and watching trashy reality TV, ha. I also grabbed pizza for lunch from my favorite local pizza place; it's my favorite food.
Last night i went to Panera for dinner with a friend, and tonight Bob and I are going to my parents' house for cake for my birthday (which is today), along with my grandmother. Tomorrow my mom and I are heading to Maryland to go to a vintage antique show, called Pyrex Fest. We haven't been to it before, and I'm really looking forward to it. I do have to get up early though, but I'll suck it up for this. I think it'll mostly be vintge kitchenware and housewares. The shop that's hosting the event has 20% off storewide, which is great. There's about fifty vendors who will be set up outside, too. Tomorrow night Bob and I are going out to dinner and then for drinks.
In the pictures below I'm wearing one of my two new Bernie Dexter Kelly dresses, this print is called Happy Valley. I got them a couple of weeks ago, and love them both, and have already worn them both twice. They fit really well, too. Both prints are just gorgeous! The other one has a large floral print, in shades of pink and blue. I haven't bought hardly any Bernie Dexter dresses in a long time now. I picked up one in July, but that was the first time in months.

Celebration
Hello there! It's a gorgeous, sunny day out today, which is much needed. It's been doom and gloom here the whole past week, besides a few minutes of sun yesterday. This summer has been so disgustingly humid out that many buildings in the area have rampant mold now, including the school my mom works at. They had to have major mold cleanup, and delayed the opening of school by a week because of it.
Bob and I are just staying home today. Yesterday I took my new, used car to inspection, and wonder of all wonders, there as NO line at inspection! I have never been the first car there, or even one of the first. My car passed inspection, which I had been assuming it would. I ran an errand, and did cleaning and laundry, and took a walk, and in the early evening we headed to a restaurant half an hour away to go out to eat for my Nana's 77th birthday. My parents, aunt and uncle, and cousin and cousin's finance came, too. I had never been to the restaurant before; it was nice inside and the food was pretty good. They also brew their own beer there, and Bob had a couple of their beers.
In the pictures below I'm wearing the outfit I wore to go out to eat for my Nana's birthday. I just love this celebration border print! It's obviously a perfect New Year's dress, but I want to wear it more than that. I think it fits well for most celebrations, including birthdays! The dress does have more black in than I would like, but that print makes up for it.

French Quarter
Hello there! It's been such a dreary, rainy, cool weekend. It cooled WAY down...it was in the 90's and VERY humid Monday-Thursday, and then Thursday on my commute home I got stuck in an awful thunderstorm, with on and off torrential rain. The storm brought in a cold front, and it cooled way down. The high is 60 today! I really wanted to take walks today & yesterday, but was unable to, due to the rain.
Yesterday I did cleaning and laundry, Bob and I found a new used car for me(!), and we also went out for a couple of drinks. I had such a long, busy, stressful week at work, and it was such a relief when the work week ended. It's also a HUGE relief that we found a car for me!!
Mine broke down twice on interstates in the past couple of months, so I had had it with that car. Now that I have such a long commute, I can't have that big risk of breaking down again. Breaking down on a highway is really scary, too. I even had to borrow my grandmother's car all weeke to get to work. I got a used Honda Acura, which is supposed to be an outstanding car.
This week upcoming week Bob and I will be going to Panera with my parents and grandmother for dinner, and then on Saturday night we're going out to dinner with my extended family for my other grandmother's birthday. I also have to take my new car for inspection, which is oh, so much fun.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my beloved Trashy Diva French Quarter Annette dress that I bought a couple of years ago on Poshmark. I adore this French Quarter print. I'm a sucker for beautiful landscape/city prints, and have a few of them. I also love pairing this big, chunky fruit necklace with this dress. The necklace is reproduction, and I also got it a couple of years back.

Go Retro
Hello there! This week has been insanely busy at work, and I was very happy to learn we would get today off, in addition to Monday! So, this is going to be a wonderful four day weekend. I'm excited for a lot of relaxation time. I know the next couple of weeks are also going to be very busy at work, and it'll be so nice once things get a little less busy.
Today I've been doing my weekly cleaning and laundry, and also ran a couple of errands. We were going to go to the beach tomorrow, since we haven't gone in the water at the Jersey shore in a long time, but now it's supposed to rain. So, we'll have to play it by ear, but I'm really hoping we get to go! Sunday I'm meeting a friend for lunch, and then Bob and I are going to a bbq at his cousin's and cousin's wife's house.
This week we met with a loan officer from the bank, regarding our construction loan to build our house. We are getting close to officially get the loan, and I can't wait, because thus far, we've paid everything out of pocket for our house, and it's been very expensive, more so than Bob had estimated it would be, which is what I knew would happen. Our well is dug, but they had to go down 900 FEET and then do fracking, so that was very pricey, and definitely didn't make me happy.
In the pictures below I'm wearing my Bernie Dexter Go Retro Drive In dress, that I got over a year ago. I wear this dress to work a lot. I'm just crazy over this MCM print. There's a lot of black, olive, and brown/tan in the print, which obviously isn't my favorite color palette, but there's enough of the blue and orange in it, that I still love it!
